assertive = manly

Got it.

Seriously, we haven't seen enough of Cassandra to make assumptions about her femininity. When we meet her, she is conducting an interrogation. Did you expect her to bake Varric cookies until he talked?

In all truthfulness, I will probably never run a protagonist that would romance Cassandra, even if she were included as a companion and LI. I prefer male LIs for PCs of both genders. That said, I find the idea of a competent, assertive female companion agreeable. Aveline rubbed me the wrong way at times, but that was mostly during the Demands of the Qun, over the elves who turned vigilante, not because I found her mannish.

So yeah, not sure I'll like Cassandra, but I'd be willing to give her a chance.

I support the return of killable companions early in the game.

Putting aside the rather bizarre notion that competence is apparently a "manly" trait - though really, what the hell is that supposed to mean - eh. So what. I'm tired of the 'you're the only one' hero mentality anyway. The protaganist doesn't need to be some special snowflake hero of the ages for me to have a good time. In fact, I'd rather they weren't.

Plus, I'm lazy. Having Cassandra do all the work would suit me fine.

Cassandra didn't felt manly at all to me. Don't really understand why the OP thinks she is.

She reminds me of Caska from Beserk (in appearance).

Whether or not that's a good thing for her future is up to the writers(Please God no).

At the risk of interrupting the conversation I sort of the thought this thread might be about how Awesome Cassandra was at any rate:

Cassandra is so Manly that they won't let her  wrestle men professionally.

Cassendra is so Manly that they won't let her into the Expendables.

Cassandra is so Manly that she eats Dragons for Lunch.

Too manly? How? She looks pretty hot if you ask me.

I think the OP is using it in the anime sense where manliness is an objective positive trait equated to being a badass.

Cassandra is a man. Just like Miranda in ME2.

Or it could be that Cassandra is rightfully pissed off because a war has just broken out between the Templars and the Mages, and here we have Varric sitting in front of her, whom she knows was complicit in its beginning, and he's sitting there smiling and cracking jokes while people are dying.

You should have probably used different word than "manly" then. Now it just seems as stereotyping :D
Just a guess :innocent:

I like Cassandra's design look from the animated movie better than her look in the game. She's slimer, prettier and cuter. Too bad it would confuse people if they used it in DA3 Inquisition.

Do you think they will change her look a little?

Its word malappropriation. Think of it like how the word epic is used to describe things nowadays. Simply replace manly with epic in all of the OP's statements and try reading it.

I do not understand how Cassandra is manly. She doesn't even show off her chest hair like Varric (the paragon of manliness) does.
