Returning characters turned companions

I for one, would like to see Cullen made into a companion. He really suprised me in DA2 considering his menial role in the first Dragon Age. Also with war breaking out and the chantry crumbling I don't think it would be too hard to make an excuse to have him as a potential companion.
Another one I'd like to see (although this would be much harder) is Jowan from the Mage Origin. Granted, a good portion of the players killed him so i don't know a workaround there (warden stabs him, leaves him for dead, and forgot to lock his cell door? IDFK). Still I was really disapointed when I learned that Bioware had planned for him to be a companion in Origins but cut him. I really think the game could benefit from a blood mage who is motivated by emotion and inferiority, rather that Merrill who was motevated by curiosity and naivety.
Third is another Mabari Dog. And no, I don't mean like in DA2 where dog was only there for lols. I mean like in Origins, where Dog would fricken MAUL people to death.
I would have also said Ser Gilmoore, but that guy is most definently, 100%, dead.
Anyone else have some good ideas?

I definitely 100% would love Cullen to come back as a companion/LI, the poor guys been stuck in an NPC role for two games now lol. Other than that, I wouldn't mind that Tal Vashoth merc that we randomly encounter on the Wounded Coast as a companion, he'd be pretty awesome. Oh and Cassandra!
For some reason I get a gut feeling that Cassandra and Cullen will both be companions

Hopefully, there are more "new" people to flesh-out even more of the setting. I like the old companions, but I want more of the setting.

Cullen would be cool but would he really join up with someone who is against the templars?
You make a good point. But there are ways around that. Something happens to him that makes him question his faith perhaps? Additionally I think it would be good to have characters with viewpoints that may conflict with the player. It wouldn't be much different from Fenris sticking by you even when you give blood mages a free pass.

True there is always a way around an NPC's beliefs and he does start to question the templars role though I thought that was more about how crazy Merideth was becoming and what that was doing to the circle in Kirkwell. Still based on his own personal experience I just find it hard to believe he would go pro mage. Also I don't mind some conflict between me and a companion but I do get tired of it rather quickly so I wouldn't mind having the option of kicking him to the road if I wanted.

I think it would be cool for him to return (possibly with the Family Sword and Shield of Highever) and sort of see where his mind is at. He's lost the majority of his family including his wife and son (possibly his little brother and sister as well) and if they didn't perish his younger sibling disappeared off the face of the earth.
He would also give us the perspective of a man who basically had everything important ripped away from him yet was given basically the second largest amount of power in his country. In Awakening we also heard that he was busy and at least had some contact with the Wardens like Oghren.
Anyway I think he would be cool.
As for the Mabari I think that would be great if we got a new one, but I'd like if the fur was a different color or the overall appearance was different like it was in DA 2

Anders, Merril and Isabella is the reason why old characters should not return in any way.RamenAwesome wrote...
In Dragon Age II, Isabella, Anders, and Merril were all characters from Origins who were turned into full fledged companions. I imagine Bioware will be doing this again in DA3. I don't expect Bioware to take any suggestions, but I'm curious who the community would like to see become part of the Inquisitors new crew.

Cullen who? You mean the irrational templar who get trapped in the Circle of Magi?
No. Not interested. I only interested with seductive sexy females excluding Isabela.
No. I'm anti bloodmage. Illegal practise and illegal mages infuriate me. I'd rather killed them than having them in my team. People with no morality principle has no place in my squad.RamenAwesome wrote...

Sure. Start a new game with new characters. It'll be more interesting to discover new characters with new background, growth and new personality.RamenAwesome wrote...

If you prefer only new characters then thats your preference and I won't disrespect that (this is only a thread afterall, and most of us are just posting wishful thinking). Still, from a designers perspective, it would be foolish to design companions who were 100% moral and conformed to your belifes in almost every way. Half of the "hard choices" the game is known and loved for usually involve conflicts of interest within your party. Of course, this wouldn't have to be a blood mage character, but it wouldn't suprise me if Bioware played that card again. Additionally, you could always simply not take the hated companion in question.

Half of such "hard choices" are not explored because such companions never get the chance to be active. Therfore, they're only wasting place for other potential companions who do conformed to your belief.RamenAwesome wrote...

1) Cullen
I'm interested to see how his mindset's developed since the whole Kirkwall mess.
2) Bethany/Carver
I think there's a potential there. I wanna know he/she's been up to.
3) Nathaniel Howe
Just cuz he's hot. Makes him LI this time pleaseeee. Seriously, though, he's interesting as an individual as he seems to know his own mind better than most characters do with theirs.
4) There's no number 4 actually
But, just saying, I want new characters (preferably a tall, dark, handsome LI who can hold his own against pc for female pc).

And Charade Amell. Because it's not a DA game unless you can have an Amell in the party.
