So I read several threads about tactics not working correctly, characters just standing there etc etc.....

I figured out something that was not obvious to me and may not be obvious to a lot of you.....

You know how people have been saying to hit the 'H' button?  I've been doing that to no avail, and then I figured out that I was reading the screen wrong!  I thought that when there was a hand icon below your characters and it says "Hold Position", then at that moment, your characters were free to use their tactics.  Conversely, I figured that when there is a little running character icon and it says "Move Freely", then at that moment, your characters were frozen.....

.....The reason I thought this was because I thought that you needed to click that little icon to put into action the status that it currently signifies.

And now I realize that it is EXACTLY THE OPPOSITE!!

It might be that the tactics werent set correctly. I had Leliana standing there a couple of time. Checked and tweaked her tactics then she went ballistic in the next fight.
