Who was one of the most popular LI BioWare created? Viconia.
She appealed to fans on many levels. The idea of "Currupted Innocence" + the fact that major part of male population got various levels of "messiah complex" secured Viconia's success.
To a lesser margin it was repeated with Jack from ME2.

So, why can't we have a Desire Demon as a companion and LI? She can repeat Viconia's success.
Reasons:
1. Desire Demon can posess a woman body and walk like that among others. Example - Kitty.
2. it is known that not all Demons are ruthless killers, especially Desire Demons, who obtained a host. They are described as cunning and intelligent and prefer to avoid confrontation.
3. Yet Desire Demons could be clueless about the non-Fade world. So, "Corrupted Innocence".
4. Potentially interesting dialogues and insight into the Fade.
5. Debauchery? Jolly good!
6. Interesting and insightful reactions and interactions.

Desire Demons we could let go peacefully:
- Desire Demon controlling Connor,
- Posessed girl(Kitty, also she would be in her 20's during mage-templar war),
- Desire Demon with templar from the Circle.
If you remember, even Anders used his magic to test if there's a demon inside that guy who kidnapped elven girls. If a mage can't recognize demonic possession right away, templars should try even harder. And I doubt they will test everyone passing through towns.
And, hell, we already got geth walking freely on the most heavily-guarded station in ME. And the only explanation was - trophy-bot.and, finally:

Actually, I'd have nothing against having a Desire Demon as a party member. That could be quite cool. But they'd
either need to be a manifest demon or be possessing a host-- they couldn't be melded a la Wynne. That's what a spirit does, and the two are very different things.

Problem is alot may see it as unoriginality having a posessed human in the previous game (Anders and Justice). Sounds like an idea but I doubt I desire demon would be 'innocent; just not accustomed to the way the world of Thedas works, but then again alot of the world is projected and similar in the fade so they can't be completely clueless.

"Innocent" in terms of interacting with the world. But otherwise, she will not be much different from, let's say, Isabella.

As long as they call her "Femme" (as in femme fatale, which is French for dangerously seductive woman). Femme sounds like it could be a name, and there are a fair few companions with double letters in their names. Morrigan, Wynne, Velanna, Merrill and Varric (the only male name). What is a desire demon? It's a female demon (not too desimilar to a succubus), that plays on people's feelings of desire (a word not unlike 'seduce'), and as we know, demons are dangerous. If she isn't going to be called Femme, then I don't want a desire demon companion.

This suggestion for a desire demon companion, could go in the List Your Ridiculous DA3 Demands Here thread... Actually, I'm gonna go do that now.

Desire demon companion. Interesting topic but i fear your wish will bring no result because Bioware are going to put Cole as the demon character.

I support Cole!!!

It should be able to switch between male and female form depending on what the player wants

Nooo. Things should as far from ideal as possible. Otherwise, it's boring as hell. After all, it's a manipulative, cunning creature with little regard for fates and feelings of mortals...you included

I can't remember from the lore that Desire Demons are restricted to have only female hose - and Connor proves they can do as they wish.

If we get a demon companion, one thing I'm sure of is that I don't want it to be some unsure, torn, troubled spirit or anything of the like, and definitely not another Anders situation. I want a straight-up, malicious, evil, self-concerned demon. There are plenty of ways to justify it following the PC, such as personal gain.

I'm tired of troubled companions on some spiritual journey to find themselves. Give me a demon!

Agree with you mate, the PC should be a person on the path to power in RPGs so it would benifit a demon to follow that person.  Unless the player character is politically correct goody goody who lets everyone live even though they'll try and kill you again at some point.

Wait I am confused.

Are you guys saying you want a Desire Demon walking around freely as a companion, or you want a companion that is "controlled" by a Desire Demon? And if it is the later, then does that not kind a ruin the "visual effect" of the demon then?

Or am I just looking at this on the literal surface and you guys are thinking mainly "story" reason?

The former may be problematic, so I'd assume the second option is what's being suggested. The reason is definitely story; having a legitimate demon as a companion is something new and interesting.

Demon's true form is hardly an option. You can't walk with Demon beside you across main orlesian plaza. Easiest way is to make it like we know it - possessed form and manifestation in true form in some extraordinary conditions.

Can we have ONE FREAKING GAME without a spirit-possessed companion? I guess a demon would be a change of pace... But really? Wynne in DAO, Justice in DAA, Anders in DA2, and (very likely) Evangeline in DA3. I thought that sort of thing was supposed to be rare?

Ahh Ok.  So really you want to keep the iconic look of the Desire Demon, but cannot for the simply fact it would be "Hey Look a Desire Demon! RUNNN!"

So what you could do is have the main PC "see"  only the Desire Demon (model), while the NPCs or companions sees the Person who is controlled.  You keep the visual uniqueness of the demon and you have the "story" involved with the possession.

I'd be all for it, although we've certainly had our fair share of party members being possessed/manifestations of something else: Wynne has a spirit inside her, Morrigan was in danger of being possessed by Flemeth, Shale is a dwarf in a golem's body, Justice was a corpse with a spirit inside him, Anders then had Justice meld/possess him. Not only that, we had to deal with plenty of demon possession issues in DA2.

It's getting kind of stale, even though I still think Desire Demons are the most interesting of the lot since they seem, generally, to be the least overtly evil and by far the most cunning.
