Desire Demon Companion

"None of the events after you meet the desire demon actually happened. You're still standing in the room where you met her, drooling on yourself while she fills your head with what you want to see. At the end, you die of dehydration and she moves on to another victim. It's a demon induced Total Recall!"

Can't they shapeshift for all those NO MORE POSSESSED COMPANIONS peoples? Isn't Herren a Desire Demon?
No, that's not canon.
From David Gaider:
"Herren is not a Desire Demon, either.
Possibly a Desire Demon came along and possessed him in the Darkspawn Chronicles timeline, or some other shenanigan. It wasn't really explored. But outside of that timeline, it didn't happen-- period. "

This would be more interesting than just straight up "hey, look! We have a desire demon companion."

I'd be all for it, although we've certainly had our fair share of party members being possessed/manifestations of something else: Wynne has a spirit inside her, Morrigan was in danger of being possessed by Flemeth, Shale is a dwarf in a golem's body, Justice was a corpse with a spirit inside him, Anders then had Justice meld/possess him. Not only that, we had to deal with plenty of demon possession issues in DA2.
It's getting kind of stale, even though I still think Desire Demons are the most interesting of the lot since they seem, generally, to be the least overtly evil and by far the most cunning.
So you want the demons to go away because they're getting boring?... "hey demons, time to leave because some guy is bored with you... huh? yeah sorry mate no more possessing mages too"
This is just the nature of the world of Dragon Age.

Can we have ONE FREAKING GAME without a spirit-possessed companion? I guess a demon would be a change of pace... But really? Wynne in DAO, Justice in DAA, Anders in DA2, and (very likely) Evangeline in DA3. I thought that sort of thing was supposed to be rare?
Mate, rare **** happening to the PC is the bread and butter of RPG games.... you're going to complain about that?

And I actually would kinda like this too. I think it'd be an interesting possibilty for a new companion.

That's a fair point. But, it seems like perhaps more variety is in order? Beardless dwarves are rare, too, but we've only had one of those.

Considering that's not what I said at all, no.
There's a difference between "No more possessed party members" and "No more demons." Kind of along the same lines as "No more romanceable female rogues" vs. "No more rogues." You can attempt to twist my words but if you would, you know, read them, you'd see there's a significant difference between what I said and what you're suggesting.
There's so much other good lore and good possible characters out there to play with instead of falling back on the typical possession crutch. Not saying that it's not a real and significant threat in the greater world, but we've had so many similar instances of if already in one form or another that I'd, you know, like something NEW.
Or you can just fall back on the possession matchmaker game. Match 2:
Companion is a (mage, templar recruit, golem, corpse, Warden, regular person) with a (demon, dwarven soul, spirit, Old God, Corypheus) inside them.
A surefire winner!

We can have a desire demon companion.
And why would a desire demon's form be dictated by the 'male demographic?'mousestalker wrote...

We've had companions who've been possessed by spirits before, a real demon for a companion might be an interesting angle to take. It doesn't have to be a desire demon.
Of course I have no idea how feasible that is. As a concept it is interesting and that's as far as it goes.

Having a sort of good, kind of bad mushy mushy desire demon is boring as hell.
