What type of answers are you expecting that are any different from the ones we've been receiving?

-They'll either answer an irrelevant point in the question

Example Question: Why did you photoshop a stock image and ship it as Tali's face?

Answer: Because Samara, Shepard, and Miranda's facial models were based off of real people and we felt that Tali deserved a similar treatment.

-They'll avoid the answer because they're not allowed to answer it.

-They'll say it's above their pay grade.

-They'll answer the question without actually answering it at all

-And the questions they will answer aren't very important...

The cycle continues. Speculation for all!

Have you heard of Reddit? It's a little website a couple people visit.  You should google the IAMA they already did.

OP said he/she would like a discussion with the writers, not community managers. As far as I know, IAMA didn't include that.

Correct. Community Managers, although lovely people, have no idea what the writers intentions were - at least compared to the writers themselves. :)

You are assuming this will be with the community managers or producers.

I am asking for a Q&A with the writers.

Well, it would help to not ask irrelevant questions. Is the real issue where the pic came from, or is it that quarians look too much like humans?

Good idea OP. Hope this is seeing the light of day one day...

The vision of the writers is already there in the goddamned game.

You're not going to be able to pin down a writer and force him to listen to you and to get an admission of guilt or an acknowledgment of failure, which is what you and many others really want - to get a "yes, we screwed up, you are right and we are wrong" out of them.

We already had something like that.

Those are some of the writers and that's the caliber of questions they're at liberty to answer.

A friend of mine who went to SDCC said that they screen questions, making sure that no controversial story-related ones get through.

It's not a democratic process. Most of the big questions you have most likely won't be answered. I would try Twitter if you really want to talk to the writers.

Despite the childish way you started this thread, it is a good idea.

However, the writers time is hard to squeek a window into. Those who are still working on Mass Effect 3 (some have move to the Dragon Age 3 product now) are busy writing DLC. I think it also well worth echoing that the vision of the writers is actually in the game. If what you want is a session to complain and argue, that likely wouldn't happen (not that anyone here would despite the posting history of some of you), but a "this is why we did what we did" like we have done at conventions has great merit.

It is a good idea and we'll see what we can do.

Thanks Chris. We really don't want you guys to be silent. We get that everything in ME3 (like the endings) is sort of set in stone at the moment, but for me personally I just want to know the motivation behind it. You should probably expect more hard hitting questions than complaining though.

Well, sometimes it's better not to know the motivation behind certain things. (Such as the endings.) :) Still, it might be interesting to hear what the writers have to say about some other topics.

Hey Chris,

a) I don't appreciate being called childish, given that Ninja Stan ( a moderator) locked two previous threads with this topic of discussion without any reasoning.

So sorry if you feel offended by my opening statements but go talk to Stan, don't have a go at me, okay dude?

B) The Q&A idea has nothing to do with complaining, some of us don't understand a few things and would like the writers take on it - sorry but community managers simply don't write the game so we can't rely on your earnest attempts to fill us in :)
Anyway, good to hear your on board :)

If this is gonna happen you/we should compile a list of questions from bsn, arrange them into a poll, then  have bsn vote on the questions they want to hear the most. That will give us our Top 10. The rest can be ad-hoc.

At least that is my thought...

I have added a spoilery Q&A thread in the campaign forum for your campaign questions, which will be compiled in that threads IP, so this thread is not spoilerfied - I will link the two!

I dont know what we would get out of this, but finally a Q@A about the endings from the writers mouth would be apreciated. I would definitely.

I've started to update the questions thread http://social.biowar.../index/14238839

I have taken it upon myself to NOT include any inflammatory or disingenuous questions.

I would LOVE to see the writers, designers, etc. take some specific points in the game and just break it down.

Explaining the thought process, taking us from pre-production into the end product, show us the concept art, watch the direction of the voice actors...all that good stuff.

They'd make some neat videos you guys to post to your YouTube channel, like "Behind Tuchanka" or "Behind the ending," "Behind Geth Dreadnought" etc...
