DA's cover is the very definition of generic. If you did not have the DA logo would you even know what game it was ? The imagery on Shadows of Mordor works really well.

Wait... how is the cover of some dude doing the bad ass walk at the camera not generic? No explosion going off behind him maybe?
If there was no Mordor or middle-earth on the cover would you even know what game it was? Would you even think of Lord of the Rings?

It's the exact same cover as a thousand first-person shooters, except the guy has a sword instead of a gun. It's as generic as you can get.

Broken sword in the hand. Mordor orcs lying on the ground and in the back ground. Otherworldly glow of eyes. Yep that's a Middle Earth game. Same with the Unity cover I don't need to see the words to know that is an Assassins Creed game.
What exactly is on the DA cover that makes it a DA game?
Anyway don't want to derail the meme thread anymore.

The dragon motif, which has been on DAO and DA2's covers. The flood of demons from the Dragon Age universe. What exactly is on the DA cover makes it a DA game?
The orcs I'll give you - though orcs are hardly unique to LOTR anymore - but the glowing eyes and broken sword could be from any fantasy game. And in terms of composition, Shadows of Mordor is just a remix of Battlefield and Call of Duty's covers but without the modern trappings. Seriously, look:

Nope. Shadows of Mordor's cover has been done, like, a million times. Inquisition's is a bit more unique (though it probably has been done before as welll)

What so different with Inquisition's art?

He's just facing the other direction, wields a sword, and has his hand up.
All of them happen to have the protagonist in the middle with something at the top. The designs are similar.

There's only so much staple art for badass poses people can use for covers.
I wouldn't mind the Inquisitor sitting on some stairs licking a lollipop though. And the novelty factor might even garner some sells, though most likely coming in hand with a reclamation wave because apparently the game isn't about lollipopping if you catch my drift.

You're kidding, right? ... You're not kidding. Why didn't you point out that all those pictures are rectangular, then? What a striking resemblance, that. If you don't count the background, posture and what exactly is at the top, I mean.

Naw, I know firsthand how whack the Japanese can be (I'm doing asian studies with focus on Japan and Korea after all), they won't deliver.
