Why do fangirls love Cullen so much?

THEN, he does absolutely nothing in DA2 (basically just there as a fan service)
So what did he do? Why is he so sexy? What's the big deal? To me, he's a very blank, emotionless, zero-dimensional character. HOW IS HE SO CHARMING?

Why does anyone like anyone? It's personal taste. It doesn't matter what reasons people have for liking Cullen because obviously you just don't see those reasons.

In DA2 he still thinks mages are nothing more then wild animals that need to be controlled and got knight captain because Meredith approves of his violent methods.
People just like to blind themselves to the tool he really is. I wanted to kill him after I killed Meredith.
EDIT: Hopefully I'll be able to murder knife him in DA3

We don't know if it's true or not since the epilogues at the end are mostly rumors and heresays. Who knows if he actually did it. Whatever he does, it can't be worse than Anders' blowing up the chantry or Morrigan's eagerness to kill every mage in the circle, yet, they still have tons of fans.KiwiQuiche wrote...
I have no idea. He DOES kill a bunch of innocent mage apprentices when he goes batsh!t during one of DAO ends, or he becomes a real brutal Templar commander at the circle.

No one has confirmed Cullen's inclusion in DA3, but one way or another, OP is going to have to face the possibility that the game will include characters that interest others more than him.

I'm not completely opposed to having him as a companion though, it is possible that character development could change my vision of him. And even if that's not the case, I still might get the option to murder-knife him.

To be fair, Meredith had stepped out of line by calling for the annulment in the first place, but he didn't stand up to her then. She'd been stepping out of line for three years prior, by assuming de facto control of Kirkwall, and again, he didn't stand up to her.sandellniklas wrote...
I really like him. I'm a guy and I'm straight so i can't really speak for the fangirls... but I can totally see the appeal. In DA2 he got one of the most handsome faces of all NPCs, he has a great voice, and most importantly, he seems to be the only templar that actually has a good head on his shoulders. Yes, he went a little crazy in DA:O, but consider the situation he was in, I can totally get his point of view. And besides, he stands up to his commander when she steps out of line in the Finale of DA2. You can't tell me that he wasn't badass in that scene or the one where he confronts the templar recruit that turned into an abomination.

In his defense, it'skinda hard to stand up against the whole templar corp and the chantry when you're being addicted to lyrium that they're providing.Plaintiff wrote...

I have no idea what's so "hot" about both him and Nathaniel. But, hey, some people romanced Jacob in ME2...

Nah, that'd be Thrask. Sure he made some questionable choices in terms of allies, but that doesn't make him any less sane.

Everybody has a breaking point. I'm probably one of the most rabidly pro-mage players out there, but I don't begrudge his devotion to what he perceived as his duty. In Act 3, he is openly questioning his stance and wonders aloud if he is really serving the will of the Maker or if he is merely obeying Meredith. Considering that eight years before, he was driven to literal insanity by blood mages, I'd say that he's come a long way.Plaintiff wrote...

Yeah, but unfortunately Thrask was struck by a bad case of Death-By-Crazy-Blood-Mage/Abomination that renders him unable to compete, which leaves Cullen as the default victor.

I don't disagree, per say. Cullen has potential, but it's going to take a bit more than a last-minute change of heart to endear him to me.berelinde wrote...

I'd imagine for the same reason us hetero guys like him too.
He hated the Mages for what the did in DA:O, but afterwards recognised that they weren't all like that.
And in DA2, amidst all the insanity, he managed to keep a level head on his shoulders. While the other Templars blindly followed Meredith's murderous rampage, Cullen actually stood up to her.

Being tormented by guilt wouldn't make him any less appealling to the fan girls, I'd guess.

While I personally don't like his current character development and personality - He has the ability to grow and that isn't something that should be denied.
(Same reason I love/hate Sebastian Vael)
