So what did he do? Why is he so sexy? What's the big deal? To me, he's a very blank, emotionless, zero-dimensional character. HOW IS HE SO CHARMING?

1) Good hair.

2) Lots of imagination.

I sometimes wonder if these fans have developed Cullen into a character separate from the one actually in the game, but either way it's nice to see he has such ardent supporters. People like stuff, sometimes for reasons. Go figure.

This has probably got to be one of the best dev responses I have seen so far, "Why do people like your character so much?" "how the hell should I know?"

Personally I liked the crazy hermit from the forest but unfortunately he doesnt seem to have the cult following, any chance we can see him as a potential LI and party member?

LOL

One word: hygiene. I didn't see a bathtub in that clearing, if you know what I mean.

It's so nice to see that writers have some time to read. Really. Thank you so much for staying with us during this hard, long (and cold) waiting times! 8)

In case you'll have some more time to visit this thread again - I'll ask a question. How do you think, how good and proper is it to leave some character for "headcanon" and then - to "ruin" him, taking him back into writer's hands? I do not mean to insult you (as a writer and creator - which I respect). And I do not think that any possible role for Cullen is so awful and "wrong", still - it will be different. And a lot of "headcanons" are to be ruined.

And from what you said here - looks like you admit, that Cullen-loving, as it happened, was kind of surprise to you (same as to many other players...who never rolled mage female Warden). How are you going to handle this?

I understand, that neither of past and future charactes "belong" to players (exept for, may be Warden and Hawke...to some degree...) Same I understand that you can not tell any details about possible Cullen's role in DA3 or any future content, you may even have no rights to confirm he will be there. I'm just very curious about how author feels seeing that his creation...well, walks around and does things without author's permission?

ps: I'm a non-native speaker, I hope I could put my thoughts clear and did not offend anyone.

Even having played the mage origin I've never been interested in Cullen, until I read this:

David Gaider wrote...

If I wrote a Cullen "romance" it'd have to be creepy as hell.

Cullen: I just want you to know... I love you.
PC: I love you, too.
Cullen: No, no... I REALLY love you!
PC: Er... and I love you, too.
Cullen: You don't understand! I think about you all the time, every waking moment! I look at you and I... I want to touch your skin! I want to brush your hair!
PC: I don't...
Cullen: Ever since I saw you in the mage tower I wanted to protect you. Keep you somewhere safe. FOREVER.
PC: ...
PC: ...awkward.

In this thread: http://social.biowar.../index/468638/3 if anyone's interested.

The sheer weirdness of it convinced me. Now I want to love Cullen and then have the greatest adventure of all, flee from Cullen! :wizard:

Crap, now I imagined Cullen brushing the PC's hair and this huge smile all void of signs of intelligence formed on my face.

I can't say I liked Cullen in DAO but I did warm up to his character in DA2. He's pretty handsome and seems to have grown a backbone between DAO and DA2. I think an interesting Cullen story could be made for DA3.

Cullen as a LI for the females have been done and done in this thread so I won't repeat anything there, but I kind of liked him as a character - not the least because of one of the better voice actings in especially DA2. He had his head screwed on straight, and I could well see him take over after Meredith. Good guy.

I wouldn't mind to see him in DA3 (as a LI or not isn't interesting), not the least because he is a recurring character - he has been around for two games, and to let him go would just be crazy. He has too much to offer, and it would be nice to have a thread that binds all the games together.

Regarding that issue someone brought up about him being boring (like Jacob and others): well, he isn't. I think this type of character offers something that is sorely missing, which is stability. Morrigan was a b*tch, Merill a dengerous cloudcuckoolander, Zevran a ****... whilst people like Alistair gives the player some pause from all the crazy, which is very good. And I think Cullen might be this as well.

And a final note: Cullen shouldn't change much from his DAO/DA2 behaviour. Anders had an excuse since he joined with the spirit (and apparently, he liked having a guy inside him), and from that, I guess his fundamental change could be explained. Cullen doesn't have that, and so should remain unchanged. IF he appears in DA3.

Sebastian is a hypocrite and that's why I don't like his character.

Sebastian *is* a hypocrite. Funnily enough, that's why I like his character.

I don't know why some women are in love with some men, but they are, simple as that. Women are the most complex things behind neurosurgery of the brain.

I'd like to know why this thread- which is essentially full of people making fun of fangirls- is allowed to prosper, when an actual Cullen thread- created to discuss things about his character- was shut down?

I'm offended by a thread that says I can't string two words together without squeeing over emo men who don't know how to treat women.

I have no idea. He DOES kill a bunch of innocent mage apprentices when he goes batsh!t during one of DAO ends, or he becomes a real brutal Templar commander at the circle.

In DA2 he still thinks mages are nothing more then wild animals that need to be controlled and got knight captain because Meredith approves of his violent methods.

People just like to blind themselves to the tool he really is. I wanted to kill him after I killed Meredith.

EDIT: Hopefully I'll be able to murder knife him in DA3

They're not complex, just backwards. If a woman says, "I'm fine" after an argument, she really means, "I'm so upset with him & I'm not going to talk about it even when he asked me 'what's wrong?'" Just an observation. ^_^

Indeed, especially since this is also a repeated thread that seems to pop up every few days. Threads  have been shut down for less than this.

It's one thing to discuss the character, quite another to generalize, speculate and ridicule a particular group of fans. But then, fangirl bashing seems to be fun these days...

People can be such hypocrites. They can bash a character all they want and when someone bashes a character they like they go ape****. Everyone has the right to like a character if they want. Going all "oh my god why do people even like him hes such a tool" blah blah. If you don't like the character stay away from the thread. No one is forcing you to come here so you can spread your hatred.

Intriguing. It's true, I don't like Cullen personally, but I've never found anything actually objectionable in his fanbase. None of the character fanbases in DA2 actually seem to be that bad; the worst ones are based around policy rather than character.

Not funny and unrelated to gender. Yes, some men do the same thing when they're fed up, just like some women do.
