So because the Catalyst caused trillions of deaths, you'll..... let him kill another trillion?

You're so opposed to his methods that you'll refuse to stop him?

Getting everyone killed is better than Control?

I never chose anything but destroy, but I rather get my hands dirty and betray my morals than letting all those who put faith in me die in vain. IMO, refusal is the ending for most evil renegade Shepards, like "Get lost. I rather let everyone die than play by any rules that or not my own." This is arrogance with fatal consequences IMO.

Edit: Another reason for Shepard to refuse is not being ready to die for the cause. As far as he/she knows, all three choices result in his/her death.

I know what you mean but the catalyst speaks positivlly about control and synthesis but not destroy, theres just no way I can side with him.  Why would anyone?

Also control has only ever been the goal of indoctrinated people, TiM and the rogue prothean group mentioned on Thessia. And synthesis is just unheard of, again no way I can change my mind after a minute explantion from the AI who controls the reapers.

ALSO, Id prefer shooting a tube over electrocuting myself or jumping down a hole

He's not happy with Control, since it means overwriting his personality with Shepard's.

im not letting him to anything, id rather fight to the death than act on his advice.

theres no way of knowing what refuse would do without metagaming anyway, so again i didn't "let" him do anything

Destroy is the belief that the Catalyst is incorrect, that the conflict isn't inevitable.

Control is the belief that the galaxy will need a guiding hand to prevent the conflict.

Synthesis is having faith that the problem (because you believe it exists) can be solved, and that the two opposing sides can be made to meet in the middle and resolve their differences.

No, thats called making peace, and it can happen on rannoch, you dont need to catalyst to rape everyones DNA for it to happen

Except there's no indication how the peace would play out.  Nor is it evidence that the conflict can be resolved normally.  The Catalyst has a HUGE advantage over you in that he's experienced countless cycles and had immeasure amounts of data pointing in his favor.

You have one shakily established peace that hasn't even existed for a full year yet.  While it's certainly an accomplishment, it doesn't prove anything.

I agree with you on that one. Catalyst ranking is quite strongly Synthesis ("It is the ideal solution") > Control ("You will lose everything you have" + your quote) > Destroy ("The peace won´t last").

That argument only works if you consider Synthesis to be "rape", and honestly, to equate what Synthesis does (which is shown to be a painful and instantaneous process) to rape is frankly downright insulting.

HA my mistake, maybe hes not happy, but he still accepts and reccomends that as a solution to find peace, which in itself is a good enough reason not to pick it

No, it's not.  No more than Synthesis is eugenics either.  I'm not sure exactly where people are pulling these arguments from but this is getting ridiculous.

They don't have any good reasons to denounce Synthesis, so they make outlandlish proclamations.

What would you think of a secret and effective global brainwashing program that makes sure every human on earth becomes a follower of one disigned standard religion and philosophy so there is no religious conflict anymore?

Well the overwhelming reasons are:

1) "You can't decide for the galaxy!"

and

2) "It's what the Catalyst wanted, therefore it's bad!"

We already know the second is incorrect based on Leviathan, and the former can be debated because any of the three choices and Refuse require Shepard to make a decision for all involved parties.

Nice try, but it's not comparable.  Synthesis isn't anything close to religion in the first place.  And once again, you're equating Synthesis to brainwashing when there's no evidence of such.

So now your taking advice off giant squids who once enslaved every other organic in the galaxy, who were responsible for causing the synthetic/organic conflict in the first place, and  also built the catalyst, which in turn started the reaper cycle.
