Only if he returns as Zombie Duncan and his personal story arc involves hooking up with Zombie Leandra.

How do you come back from getting split in half by a troll and rotting for a good twenty years?

I even think he knew that he would not survive Ostagar

But his death was a waste of a good char. Instead of the unknown Riordan we should have him at the end of DAO.

Only for him to be hurled off a dragon and die after a cozy 10,000 story fall. Yes, this idea has a lot of potential.

But his beard of epicness would have saved him. B)

As much as I liked Duncan, NO. I've had enough of characters suddenky returning from the dead in the sequals.

Duncan was an awful Warden boss man so he deserved getting his head turned to mush by that axe. Although I have nothing against him personality-wise he was just really awful at his job.

I have something against him personality-wise...but then again the Wardens in general seem to be jerks. Killing a man who backs on out a deal they didn't know the consequences of isn't even something a demon would do - they at least tell you the terms of the deal.

The only thing he's good at is being HR because he hires me.

I don't want him back alive. His character would be irrelevant to Inquisition's plot anyways.

To retcon Duncan's death, just say the Darkspawn's axe only cut Duncan's beard off, then Duncan lost all of his memory and skill and became a Chasind for ten years. In that time Duncan's beard grew back along with his memory and skill, and took up the Grey Warden mantle once again in time for the Mage-Templar war.

Has anyone pointed out that if Duncan came back, it'd be "In death, not really sacrifice?"

I mean, if Anders and Leliana can escape death... Image IPB

It'd be pretty cool to see Duncan return as the Grey Warden party member. A mentor to the PC like Wynne was to the Warden, just less annoying.

Thoughts?

Anders, Isabela and Leliana were special ocassions. Bioware has to include Anders otherwise the entire party woudl get raped. And you know, Anders is a badass mage.

But i hardly think Duncan woudl return. he's stabbed, crushes and turned into a zombie and ashes a little after. I would be surprised on how Bioware could overcome that.

It's rather silly that I have to keep repeating this, but:

Duncan is dead. He will not be coming back. Ever.

His spirit is at the fade. Unless he discoveres how to summon himself at Thedas like a demon, i really doubt he would come back.

How many of these threads have popped up in the last month alone?

Apparently, at the very least, you need to at least get the voice actor back or something. People love Duncan.

No, I really don't need to do that. Duncan shall not be returning in any capacity. If someone loves him so much, they'll let him rest. And that is the final word on the subject.

You'll probably end up having to say it again tomorrow.

Would be nice one day to have "The Calling" in game or video form. With a young Duncan and Marric & Fiona <3

@David Gaider, does this mean that Peter Renaday is not a voice actor for Inquisition?

He is obviously dead. Very dead, and not in a "we didn't see the final blow, he might have survived sort of way", in a "ripped apart by hoards of darkspawn" sort of way.

All that said, I would give my last sovereign to play some content in which Duncan was in some way involved, be it as a narrator, companion in a flashback story, or whatever. As much as anything, because i've always thought he came off as more than a little crazy during the joining ceremony while at the same time being super noble and a general bad ass dual wielding legend.

Pleeeeeeeeeese.

Not to mention an "Even if by some miracle he survived all that, by now he'd be consumed by the taint" sort of way...Image IPB

Why do you hate Duncan so much!?
