I didn't mean to resurrect Duncan. I'm all for "let dead stay dead".

I just mean that SOMETHING resonated strongly with the fans, and maybe the voice actor was a factor. So getting him to voice a different character or something?

We could always use Peter Renaday as a voice actor, provided he didn't sound like Duncan.

As for some other comments made in this thread, it's fine if you feel like you want to ask whether Duncan was really dead. I don't think it was ambiguous, but if you do that's fine. He's still going to remain dead. Bringing back a character in any fashion that only existed in the first couple of hours of DA2 two games and two protagonists later is not going to happen-- especially considering that part of what made Duncan an epic character was his tragic death. If he'd stuck around as the mentor who didn't give you vital information until later in the game, you'd probably hate him.

Either way, this conversation isn't going to go anywhere. Duncan's tragic death shall remain his tragic death. No Duncan ghosts, ghouls, or resurrections. I'd really rather not keep having to mention it.

Ducnan's was probably the most affecting death I've seen in the Dragon Age frachise, with the possible excetion of Leandra's death in DA2.  It would be intersting, however, to see what his legacy may be, especially when player actions are taken into consideration.

I think people might still be bringing it up just to hear you say that. :P

DA3 should have a painting of Duncan riding a griffin as a mashup of two dead things that people apparently really want but will never have. xp

Most people aren't going to sift through the forums to find out, especially when the forums also contain inaccurate information coupled with speculation and the like.

Is there a way to add an official blurb about the death, confirming it to be true, to Duncan's wiki? I realize the wiki isn't completely official, however I'm willing to bet it would save you a lot of headache since most players refer to the wiki for almost every bit of info.

Plus it gives the rest of us a solid reference to link in threads like this. (I'm seriously too lazy to go searching for all the times you've said Duncan's dead. I even started one of the threads in which you had to say it. Sorry... heh.)

Maybe it there was a solid reference point, you wouldn't even have to concern yourself anymore.

Edit: Dude, you could even make the wiki reference rhyme: "Duncan is dead from an axe to the head."

Edit again: Nevermind. It is in the wiki, but for some reason that section does not show up if you visit the page via mobile device.

It'd be pretty cool to see Duncan return as the Grey Warden party member. A mentor to the PC like Wynne was to the Warden, just less annoying.

Thoughts?

No thanks.

My impression is that the Warden and Alistair are such legacy as he's going to get.

The wiki already mentions it as confirmed.

Well that was acutally what I mean.  Though I believe that Fiona (Former Grey Warden and leader among the mages, for those who haven't read the books) was a collegue of Duncan.

Ok this is a technical issue. I'm not seeing the explanation of his death via mobile device (that entire section is missing), but I am seeing it via PC. I checked it with the former, which is why I didn't see it. I have no idea why it does that... :::annoyed:::

While it seems that Duncan himself was quite mortal, it also appears threads about his return are evergreen, much like kudzu.

In Return to Ostagar you see his weapons which he had already ditched before one darkspawn ran at him. I never believed he was dead. I'm sure we'll be in the Deep Roads in DA3 and find a post-calling warden with a great beard.

Duncan will come back. Some day. Not necessarily for DA3, but it is as inevitable as our Sun's death.

It should be pleasing that someone you wrote has resonated with so many. Prequels are great too, chance to get away from the timeline and carry over of choices and such...

Of the week only?

It´s obvious Duncan is alive, the Hurlock only shaved his beard with the axe Cursed Gilette. So good it shaves in one stroke and without foam.

No real grey wardens, if you go by the numbers apparently, suffer a slow miserable decline at a comparatively young age before heading off on a suicide run into the Roads that is 100% pointless. Duncan, that schmuck, managed to dodge the horrible fate he condemned so many, including my warden to. I want the option to toss his corpse to the wolves at RTO.

People thinking of this is completely justified by the total unexplained resurrection of Leliana. Just saying.

Okay, so Duncan is dead. So why not introduce his half-brother Hines?
