Wasn't there JUST a thread on how awful it was for our choice of a character death to be retconned? And now we have *this?*

How the devs don't give themselves concussions by slamming their faces on desks is beyond me.

I'd like reference to him, and to have him as a character in stuff taking place before Origins, like The Calling. He was too badass for that little screentime.

But I'd rather they don't cheapen the scene in DAO by bringing him back.

Yeah Mass Effect just had characters that fulfilled exactly the same purpose but with ****tier results. =]

Duncan might be the only character killed that I would except surviving. But Gaider pretty much said no on this one.

True. the only character you can`t kill yourself, is the one that stays dead.

I loved Duncan as a character but can't imagine how it would be possible to bring him back.

I generally hate when fiction revives characters that have died.

But I have never considered Duncan as having died. It was immediately obvious to me that he survived the battle. (The absence of a death scene, for one thing). So I have always known that he is alive. Or at least that the option is kept open.

The question here is more about where and when it makes sense for Bioware to bring him back into a story in the series.

I'd hate to just see him make a cameo. It would also make more sense to have him in a story that regards Grey Wardens. And even in a context that touches or brings back The Warden. It would seem they have some words to exchange. That would be a nice touch. (players of the DA:O  can import a Warden, others could choose between pre-made.)  (I'm not saying the Warden should play any central role. She/he can be a cameo, but Duncan shouldn't be.)

So bringing Duncan back, is not something that I really want to see in DA:I aka DA3. It doesn't seem as fitting the story.
It would be a waste of "Duncan's Return", if you get my meaning. Make more of it than that, like a party member.
Save it for a later installment, in the (hopefully) restored DA franchise. (Ideally, Duncan's return should have been handled already in 'Awakening'.)

But the other side of that is that Bioware probably have other stories they would rather tell. It certainly seems so from Gaider. And I guess that is fine too.

I think the reasons our thoughts still return to the Warden and Duncan, is mainly that Hawke meant so little to us. DA was always deviced as a series that would tell different stories about different persons. Not a trilogy like BG or ME.

Gaider said Duncan died. That there are no plans to bring him back and he doesn't know why people keep bringing it up.

I get it. The scene was made the way it was made to add dramatic effect. Plus, Alistair said that Duncan was getting around to the time he would need to leave to go to his Calling. Its been 12 years since then.

Yeah, Duncan's gone. Gonna miss him, it SUCKS that such an awesome character we heard a ton before DAO's release was used for such a little portion of the game, but he left a lasting effect on us otherwise we wouldn't be bringing him up, so lets enjoy what we had.

Nah, he will be a Warden that has been kept alive by the taint
