If you've cut all ties with ME then fair enough not buying the extra DLC.......

But if not, then The Citadel DLC is a gift that keeps on giving. Ok, it has those who say that taking a break from the war is immoral, but CitDLC give's players back alot of what was missing from the core game. Moment's with your favourite character's that isn't all, 'Oh the world is ending. What do we do now?!?' It allow's the character's personalities to come out...... and even better, the character's do it all in the same room. Bouncing off each other as opposed to just bouncing off the PC.

Ya I played it a bit and watched some of the youtube videos. Agree 100% and would probably enjoy Citadel if my LI content wasn't just a funeral and an eulogy :bandit: As it is, we Thanemancers are using some of the Citadel dialogs and videos to mod Thane's awful Huerta scenes on the vanilla game.

DA2 has a simillar problem to ME3's. The character's never get together. I mean, really get together. In DA:O we had the campsite where they all existed together, but in DA2, the character's were seperated and given home bases that meant they never had that illusion of togetherness. Some of the best cut scene's in DA2 are the one's where Aveline and Isabella have a cat fight with sharp tongued quips and Isabella teaches Merrill how to get by in life over a game of cards.

IKR ?

I would sooo love if we players could play a weekly poker game on the Hanged Man, with all the team together ! Think of the banter and catfights then!

In my opinion they should make a game without romances and concentrate on something else, like just forming friendship or rivalry. Most romances in games are really cheap and just feel forced. There are alternatives that allow really interesting and/or emotional dialogue but there doesn't have to be romance involved.

DA2 handled this way better though. In DA:O, they may have all been physically in the same place, but they didn't interact AT ALL. Would've been cute if Zevran would occasionally toss a little flirt Leliana's or Wynne's way or something like that.

But I agree that those particular scenes in DA2 were great! More of that :)

Except they're optional...and only constitute 8-13 minutes in total out of 40-60 hours of the entire game...

Romances are okay as long as they don't force it on you like in Dragon Age 2 when you just try and be friendly.

Merrill Romance: Cannot be started unless you flirt with her...constantly. She doesn't get it at first.

Isabella Romance: Uh....she's just being Isabella but not a lot people are complaining about her.

Fenris Romance: Again, like Merrill, you need to flirt with him first.

Anders Romance: The ONLY one who does flirt with you before you do.

Where are people getting the "forced" romance from? Most of this seems to come up because of the Anders flirt. In real life, if you notice someone flirting with you and you don't want to, you turn them down. Some will not like it while others will understand. So what if you gain 5+ rivalry. He seems the type of person who doesn't take rejection well. And even then, you can still gain friendship points throughout the game.

Oh, and avoid the heart icons if you don't want to satrt a romance. Simple as that.

The romances should definitely not be toned down, they're optional so if you don't like them then don't do them..

I just don't think there should be any characters which try and initiate romance on you like Anders. Its okay for Isabella because it fits her character.

I'd like to see more innovation same romance thing all over again is boring and so predictable. Just for once I'd like to see something totally different. I really hope that they don't make every character as romance candidates, that's not even remotely interesting.

Anders is his own character. He obviously has/had feelings for your Hawke and acted on it. Who are you to say how Anders or any other character should act? In real life, people flirt and they may be people you might not like the same way. It makes his character more "alive". Newsflash, no one has to act like Isabella to be a flirt.

Don't like a character flirting with you? Turn them down. It's not going to be the end of the world.

Not to start a big tangent on this, but I'm guessing the difference is that Anders is male. It's a skeevy thing for some people. Girls hitting on girls isn't usually held in the same light.

Yeah I didn't pick any dialogue options with a heart and I still had to go through the awkward breakup scene. Obviously it was a problem in Dragon Age 2 if a good amount of people complained about it.

Yes, when you turn someone down, it can be awkward. It's part of life. But you move on. And the only part people complained a lot about was the Anders romance because Anders started flirting with the PC and had apparently didn't take being turned down well. And I have to agree with nikkylee, a big reason had something to do with him being a male that dared to have feelings.

Shame on you, Anders! Shame on you!

It would be fun to watch how many people would still play Bioware games if you took out the dating sim aspect.

Just for that, I give positive vote.

EAware would then have to concentrate on making a good game rather than using romances to mask a subpar or mediocre plot.

The romances are fine, it's just that there are a multitude of LI threads where people want their respective waifus/husbandos to be romanceable in the next game. It could be seen from a devs perspective that gamers care more about romances than they do about the actual plot or gameplay. Then again, gameplay, plots, and romances don't really matter in the end since all these things suffer as EAware caters more and more to the casual gaming crowd.

Bioware ignore this thread the romances are something that doesn't need to be changed. They are optional and if someone doesn't want them they don't have to initiate them or could turn them down. I like them because I feel like it makes my character more involved in the enviroment rather than an observer. Also not gonna lie, I get attached to certain characters *cough* Alistair *cough* and like the fact that my character can romance them. Like I said before if a person doesn't want to participate in a romance they don't have to but don't try to deprive it from people who enjoy having the option. I for one was delighted I could become queen in Origins and it made Anders betrayal more hurtful in DA2 when my character was involved with him- the lying b******d. They are not the end all be all of the game for me but they do enhance the story for me and provide different scenarios and dialogues within the game, which provides more variety on replays.

I think the romances could certainly be changed for the better. They could be more integrated into the overall plot instead of feeling like minigames where you press the heart icon (or the upper right-hand choice in the case of Mass Effect 3,) to win, for instance.

That would be tricky since some people don't like the romances and wouldn't want to choose them. They might complain on missing out of some storyline options if they don't participate in romances.

Well I disagree, I actually hope they do more. Especially after the whole love scene thing is over. Is it just me, or do the romance feel weaker after the love scene? Before the love scene there's a lot of dialogue between your option and you but after you reach that love scene point there's like there's nothing after. I think BW should focus more on dialogue.

I think they don't necessarily have to "tone down" romances, more like adding more options. Love isn't all about kisses and sex though. Being able to hold hands, or hugging would be nice. For instance, back in ME 3, after winning back Rannoch and Tali was standing there watching the dawn, if Shepard (romance Tali) can hold her, let her rest her head on his shoulder, that would've made a perfectly fine romance scene, without any kiss, flirt, or sex involve.
Also, it would be better if player get to know the LIs more. More conversations, more relationship development, more time so we can feel the connection between protagonist and LIs, like in the previous games by BioWare (Bastila, or Carth in KOTOR, or Aribeth in NWN).
I think we need those more than censorship (seriously, undies? or full clothes on like in ME 2? It doesn't help anything =.=!)

Here's a message to people on BSN who start threads like this one: tone down the whining! You're making the rest of the fans look bad!
