OP I don't really get why your complaining. If you don't like romances they are just optional content, so you don't have to pursue them. Personally I love Bioware romances. Especially since most games nowadays can't have a decent romance in them to save their life.

It's just the amount of romance threads are ridiculous. Why not make an official romance thread or something?

I was wondering this too. I mean how many are there now? Couple hundred maybe?

I'm okay with turning down the romances, as long as they turn up over-all party banter and friendliness to compensate. I want to feel connected to my companions, as friends and comrades; that connection doesn't have to be romantic.

Well I am glad to hear that   it will be in the game   as  per   what you have been doing normally .  I am concerned by your statement means  that you are  not  going  to try to improve  on what you have been doing and add substantially more  content , options and resources  ,

I Personally I would like to  see  the romance  contented   minimum  of at least  doubled to what you  have done  in previous games,

Adding double the content would require it to be a much more important part of the game. We're not going to do that. If that's your estimation of what it would take to make the romances "better", then they're going to have to remain as good as they are now.

Which doesn't mean we won't make changes to how we go about them (as we always do, from game to game), but doubling the content certainly isn't on the table.

I'm happy to hear this. Romances are nice when they're a secondary part of the game. If they become the game, then we might as well go hunt down some Leisure Suit Larry games and play those instead.

If that's what you call a romance, then by all means go hunt some down.
Bioware doesn't do "Leisure Suit Larry" types of romances,(which in my estimation aren't "romances" at all, but mindless sex hunting.

I don't think you'll ever see romances as the primary part of any Bioware game, but it can enhance the relationships between the pc and his/her npcs, which is why so many people like the storyline and romance options in their games. It is handled better in Bioware games than in any other franchise I've ever played.

Thread starter, you're lucky you didn't see the thread that reached over 20 pages before it got locked filled with posters wanting to see full front nudity in the sex scenes. Sometimes I wonder whether half this forum is filled with horny teens and women in their 70's or not.

It's hard to talk about most other story topics when we don't really know anything yet.

i think da:o did a good job overall on the romances, having gift and special dialouge at times. if u just do -oh hi i like u blah blah blah- it would suck. besides bioware as always been about character interaction whether its a romance or a random npc

I actually like the place where Bioware romances are.  They're enjoyable extra content that adds to the main game without ever feeling like they get in the way.  So yeah, keep up the good work, Bioware!

Didn't Fox news say the same thing about Mass Effect?

The game has only just been announced, and so far, the only things revealed have been the name and the engine. There's not much for people to discuss apart from their wishlists. Once some actual features are announced, I'm sure you'll see dozens of threads disecting those instead.

Judging by the amount of love interest / romance banners that came into existence during and after ME2 and the threads asking for better sex scenes....they may have been right.

So i guess we are stuck in Limbo until then?

I think there are quite a few players between those two categories that can appreciate a good, well written romance without losing their heads completely.

What's funny is that posters who are well known advocates for increased romance despised the make "DA3 sex scenes likeTW2" premise. So i don't know about Fox News assessment yet.

Indeed. Until we do more than simply announce the game and actually start providing some info, 95% of the threads on this forum will be speculation.

You're welcome.

Bored housewives would be my guess.  But yes, a seperate forum for them would be appreciated.

Indeed. Were I the OP and had I just come back from a hiatus, I would swear looking at a lot of these threads that DA3 was going to be a Japanese Dating Game involving lots of cosplay gifts.

Indeed. I'm a regular on this board and it stil boggles my mind. One poster on here suggested BioWare create a digital soap opera game for all the folks who go crazy over these digital relationships.

Better sex scenes doesn't actually mean more nudity, it could be a wide variety of things. I don't think DA3 requires full frontal nudity but I think the idea of fully-clothed sex is equally as daft and weird. I mean ME3 had a woman showering in her underwear for christ sake, that just ruins any immersion in a game.

I think you'll find many people want a well-written romance that isnt pixelated porn. Not because we want visual titilation but because we feel it enhance the emotion connection between the player and the story. And I'm neither a teenager nor a 70 year old woman.

...sounds like it might make a home as a Facebook spam your friends game....

Now thats a scary but possibly accurate thought.

Threads like these kind of make me wish BW would go all out and turn the DA series into a fullblown dating sim. Just to see heads explode.

If you want to discuss combat/plot/whatever, you can always go make a thread or 10 for it. Just like the romancers make threads for themselves. Pretty easy.

eta- actually, i'd kind of love to see people making threads about the most esoteric combat minutiae they can think of, it'd be a much more amusing way of combating the LI threads than the standard de-rails.
