I've always wanted this to happen.  :D  I have to admit I would never see it unless it was on youtube, but it would just be so perfect.

But since this is a BioWare game they will instead make you choose.

Why? Granted, I'm not the most experienced in these kinds of things, but is there some rule that says I can't love two people? Honest question.

Yes. It's called monogamy, and you'll find that an overwhelming majority of women are very fond of that rule. Unless the woman is polyamorous, in which case you are correct, there's no rule against it. But I don't see a whole lot of polyamoury in the future of BioWare's romances, right alongside asexuality or demisexuality. It's just not something on most people's radars.

But on topic, jealousy banter is always gold. It lets you see the more vicious, vindictive sides of your potential and current LIs. Not to mention most of the time it's just plain funny. :D

This is why I even romance Fenris at all. The voice actors are incredible with catty and snarky remarks.

Petty jealously in a computer game is fun to hear and giggle about. Petty jealously in real life is beyond grating.

Or they confront eachother and decide... it's not really a big deal, and both arcs progress happily, maybe merging together. :)

I prefered the way DAO handled shaving off multiple romances, where there's a really obvious 'choose' moment; in ME3 (and also in DA2? I never tried) decisions were made almost behind the scenes, and if you missed the trigger and made the "wrong" decision there's not really any going back.

That said, the more possible combinations there are per playthrough I guess the harder it becomes to make all the confrontations, which kind of re-enforces the idea that romances should be restriced by something, to logically rule out some confrontations as well as quell some of the player-sexual complaints.

It's easier to script the automatic (telepathic) friendzoning of ME3 than all the combinations of LIs possible. When every LI is capable of swinging in either direction, it's too complicated.

In ME, the final product had only two confict situations with one of the three people in both situations. DA:O and ME2 got a little hectic, but the gender-preference restrictions made it more manageable.

Now, we have the second Dragon Age and DA3:I. There are too many possible combinations now.

You can either have one LI at a time of anyone that you want regardless of gender or you can have conflicts of LIs with them having some limits on gender preferences. You should not realistically expect both. Make a choice. Sex with any one charcter or romance conflicts?

Being literal... as far as figurative speaking goes, anyway.

I want the two female romance-capable companions to actually get into a fight over the PC. But preferrably, they already didn't get a long before the protag. came between them.

I personally would be against it. A LI that would feel the need to fight for me would seem unattractive to me. Relationship should be a choice not an accomplishment.

Basically I want a LI that would stop all the flirting and romance progression with my PC, and was calm about it, if I tried to romance another.

I know that some people find the jealousy banter distressing, but I enjoyed it, especially if it occurs before one or the other of the relationships becomes committed.

Also, I kinda liked it best when, if you were romancing more than one companion, you had to actually choose. Having a relationship go to its committed phase by the simple expedient of one of them asking to move in was OK, but having it happen immediately following the first time they had sex made them seem unnecessarily needy.

I suspect that the reason it was done the way it was in DA2 was because four of the LIs were available to the protagonist and that 4-way conflicts got messy. They've got more time this pass, though, so maybe they'll have a chance to sort it out so we get some friction where it matters.

"Catfights" over a supposed claim on another person is the sort of thing I expect to see on school buses or MTV reality shows. I'm not real interested in having that happen in a game.

Talking with the involved parties about the fact that my character is flirting or having a relationship with more than one character is fine. Having them duel to the death over it is kind of ridiculous.

Pff, ME1 cat fights are equivalent to little girls arguing with each other.

I'd rather the companions confront each other over more meaningful differences of personality than "omgosh the PC is so awsum, mine!" I'm kind of disappointed there was never a major Fenris/Anders confrontation (not re: Hawke as LI), now that I think about it. They showed party members 'having a life' away from Hawke in the sense of little bits of smalltalk with each other as Hawke arrives, but never any kind of spat (unless I forgot).

Can this series not become a teenage melodrama? It's one thing to have a deep romance and possible resentment from other parties, it's another to have stupid childish spats and catfights while hunting down assassins. A lot of the snide comments by party members make me want to throw them off a cliff in the Sundermount. Like seriously, Fenris who has been tortured his whole life, Anders who gave up his own individuality for the betterment of the world...... do childish spats go with their personalities?

Yes, it's about time some Rock of Love and Bad Girls Club was added in to a BioWare game.

I'd rather they put resources into actual LI content (or any character-related content, really) than into silly squabbles in which people fight over you.

Yes. I did miss some of this RPing in DA2.

You know, I dumped Leliana at one point for Morrigan when she confronted me about it. That girl had issues. She tells me all about the Chantry and The Maker, yet the girl is an assassin. Say what? At least Morrigan embraced what she is. No conflicts with identity there! She had a certain level of mystery behind her I liked too.

I did like how I could harden Leliana. I thought that was a great choice by Bioware. Leliana is a much better character when she's hardened because she isn't a hypocrite at that point. Or maybe she wasn't a hypocrite but just trying to discover who she is. I felt Leliana was more dangerous than Morrigan for some reason.

At least neither of them had daddy issues. That would've raised a red flag with me immediately. A man has to decide if the LI is worth it. You know, like in a rl relationship. Sometimes things don't go like you thought...and you start discovering some things about her...and you just want to start seeing other people...

Anyways, yes, I do miss the confrontations like that. Just the general recognition of your choices in the world in general. It was really great when Leliana would confront me after the Sacred Ashes quest and ask me about them when I didn't take her along...little things like that I miss from DAO.
