Again, since apparently some of you don't read the entire thread before posting, he hasn't "trolled." Rather, many of your responses seem closer to "trolling" than the original poster. He's only guilty of having an opinion contrary to your own. He's entitled to his opinion about the game, just the same as you are. However, what you're expressing isn't an opinion of the game so much as an opinion of the poster, himself. Leave him be. Address the points, not his person.



I like action RPGs, myself. However, I also read books by people like Sartre, Camus, Tolstoy, Garcia Marquez, Nabakov, etc. I watch films like The Tin Drum, Come and See, The Enigma of Kaspar Hauser, Amorres Perros, I Stand Alone, Man Bites Dog, The Seventh Seal, Rashomon, Ghost Dog, etc. I listen to The Stooges, The Birthday Party, Rachmaninoff, Chopin, Craft, Leviathan, Deathspell Omega, R.L. Burnside, etc. I have an interest in philosophy, history, politics, astronomy, zoology, the arts, etc. My point with all this is I'm not someone with dumbed down, mainstream tastes who cannot form a simple sentence, let alone a coherent argument or criticism. And yet, I'm guilty of the great, sacrilegious crime of liking action RPGs. For shame. And Diablo 2. By Blizzard! Oh. My. God. I must be an idiot. Every one of us must be! Give over, already. It's just a genre of idle entertainment, one which says nothing of the person aside from his or her personal taste. That's it.



Self-aggrandizing aside, I agree with someone else's assessment that this game lacks a bit in atmosphere. Oh, it's got plenty of CONVERSATIONS (if not really all that much actual story), but I don't get much in the way of atmosphere. That poster was right about Diablo. What someone who responded to that didn't realize was the post wasn't saying both games should have the same atmosphere, only a similar AMOUNT of it. And? I agree.



Please, people. Be, at the very least, tolerant of opposing opinions. This forum isn't just for pure praise and nothing but. Also, remember that the title of this thread reflects the perspective of the original poster. For him, it's a bad game. For some of you, it's not. Neither is more true than the other. They're just opinions.

the op did not research the game well before buying it. i think that's obvious from his opinions. do we really all need to hold hands and be pc to the point that we express no opinions whatsoever to avoid hurting anyone's feelings? i agree that just flat out insulting is dumb, but if someone can say the game stinks, someone else can say that person has a bad opinion. 20 minutes in and he has an opinion on everything. probably a troll thread since the op is at level 11 as of his last upload. not sure of a way to be level eleven in 8 days and only play for 20 minutes.

As I said, nothing "wrong" has happened in this thread other than some minor flaming of folks against the OP.  Other than that, there's nothing wrong with this thread.  He's expressed some of his dissatisfaction with the game, and then moved on.  He has not entered into arguments with anyone, nor has he started flamewars...

I have to concur with the Moderator. The original poster didn't break any of the forum rules and if every moderator closed down a thread that criticizes DA that would make it look like that Bioware wants only praises when for the most part Biowarians are generally accepting of constructive criticism.

I have to thank the person who complemented my post, but maybe it's going over some people's heads. "Back to WoW with you?" "Person has a bad opinion?" Opinion is just opinion, just as taste is just taste.

Again, you're not superior in any way, so please stop trying. Not everyone likes everything you do, and neither side is the better for it. This thread is a discussion (or SHOULD be). It's not a matter of being "P.C." It's simply being civil and mature. And no, saying "I think this is a bad game" isn't immature. It's...drum roll again...an opinion. To make it personal is a juvenile response and doesn't belong in any discussion. One last time, the original poster has a differing opinion to your own, lest he be able to say that YOU have "a bad opinion." It's silly either way.

About the registration thing, there's a couple things to consider.  Obviously, anyone that wasn't wowwed with the game isn't necessarily going to go through all the effort of signing up for every aspect of this forum, nor is it even a requisite for posting (nor should it be).  I, myself, barely registered the game a couple days ago, despite having bought and played this game from day one.  Registration doesn't really mean anything when it comes to owning or buying the game.  Plus someone can gain an impression of the game with as little as ten minutes of gameplay.

And as far as "research" goes into making the decision to buy the game, I read up a lot on it before buying it and still was disappointed in the end.  You can never really know what a game is like til you start playing it (my opinion, of course).

You know that the game doesnt register itself? It took me about a week to find out how to register it - I assumed using the promo codes and creating the account would do it. Does that mean I was a pirat for a week?
Besides of that, even if he *had* downloaded it illegally would this not change his gameplay or his experience with the game, nor unjustify his opinion (though it would be rather stupid to post here, than). Posts like yours are plain stupid.
And you shouldnt believe the upload thing. Not everyone plays online all the time, and even if you do. upload is quite often bugged.

lol your so right, I had this problem with another game that I bought, people kept going on and on like I shouldn't have an opinion because I didn't register the game. Fact is I'm still fairly new to these sorts of forums and don't no how, or just don't remember to do certain things. To automatically assume someone steal something is pretty lame in my opinion. Also as I play I get a lot of interuptions telling me that the game is unable to connect to the server.

I think that's one of the biggest issues with several people on this forum: they make far too many assumptions about other people.



For one, I, personally, never said I hated the game. I said I wasn't impressed. I've logged about 50 hours trying to finish the game because I paid full price for it and would like to at least see it through. We don't know if the original poster feels the same way as he's not replied since the first post. There's no reason to assume what we don't know.



For another, well, to be honest, I've already mentioned how silly this whole "if you don't like the game, you're stupid or don't know how to play games" thing is. Then there's this faux "elitism" about not playing action RPGs or WoW. A game is just a game. I'm sure there are PLENTY of people who look down upon YOUR tastes and interests. Get over it. It's all just entertainment.



I'm glad people are chiming in about the registration thing. The fact of the matter is people don't know others' stories. So, stop acting like you do.



For finality, I think the game is okay, but it doesn't blow me away at all. I agree with many of its criticisms but don't find it intolerable to play (despite my current boredom with it).

I never said RPGs should have the same atmosphere as Diablo. I said they should strive to be as atmospheric as Diablo. There is a big difference.

A good deal of the people who post here are RPG junkies and dislike a story that is "loosely" put together.

Most of the classic hardcore computer RPGs, the best computer RPGs of all time, are pretty light on story. Why? Because it is hard to have a "tight" story with user-created characters and completely non-linear, open-ended game worlds, which are classic computer RPG staples. Might and Magic VI has even less of a story than Diablo, but it is still one of the most atmospheric and immersive RPGs ever. Even in Baldur's Gate, a lot of the game has nothing to do with the main plot. If you want extremely tight plotting, you should play console RPGs instead.

I've played almost all of Biowares games on consoles. To be honest DA:O isn't their best work to date. It honestly feels like Star wars Knights of the old republic with a new face. Even some of the same glitches are present. I like DA:O to a point. Some of the issues present make the game frustrating and even unenjoyable at times. The op expressed his opinion of the game.

Go play DAO will be the next thing thrown at any player that doesn't agree that the game I prefer isn't the best, beceause when you see the level of the reply we can say that the level of a DAO fanboy is probably the lowest of any game.

The OP made is point and even if he got a dumb name, most of what he says is unforntunatly true.
