There should be another mode in DA3 difficulty
Easy
Normal
Hard
Nightmare
and
Hardcore
Hardcore is like NM, except when you die, it's permanent (ie no reloading your last save) and you have to start over from level 1. There should be a separate set of achievements for beating hardcore difficulty and perhaps better loot.
Thoughts?
Hardcore mode for DA3 please

Can't you just play on Nightmare and delete your save file when you die? No need to have the game itself do it for you.

I don't see why a 2-week old thread had to be bumped, but I agree with Leiha. There's no reason to code a whole new gameplay mode that's just a duplicate of another mode, only with auto-deleting saves. Indeed, I find the idea of the game deleting my saves because I failed abhorrant in any game that plays for longer than an hour or two. If players want to have "no-reload" challenges and such, it's really not that hard to delete your own saves after you die. And making things like achievements, game resources, or story require players to play such a punishing mode is just cruel. I'm all for allowing people to challenge themselves, but making me decide between playing your game or watching YouTube videos of the "hardcore" content is a bad idea, because I'm not fond of beating my head against a mode that punishes me so harshly when I can get the same reward by modding the game or watching a video.

I whole heartedly agree with the OP, though, it should be unlocked by playing through it at least once first...
Also @ the other people. The reason why its necessary is because its fun. They could also add things that aren't in the regular game to make it worthwhile. Like armor sets that, upon completion you can bring into a non hardcore playthrough that make you a badass

I understand it can be fun to have things like no-reload challenges and such, but why ask for developers to spend time coding a mode that does something that takes a player less than two minutes to do themselves?

This is part of what I fear about such a mode. I don't want to be forced into playing a "hardcore" mode just because I want to get the full story or something of similar importance.

While non-essential (but powerful) items are one of the few things I'd be willing to accept a hardcore mode having, this example sort of confuses me. If someone is skilled enough to survive a hardcore mode with the game's standard gear, what would be the point of giving godlike gear in normal mode? It's like giving someone who won a war with a peashooter a machine gun to retire on.

Why should the developer spend resources creating a hardcore mode? They already have four modes. Maybe they should also create a story mode and an action mode.
One poster wants to add content to the hardcore mode that is not available in the standard game and have achievements to match the content. What is the point so that someone can have bragging rights?
I would rather see the resources use to add more content to the entire game for all gamers.

I think a Hardcore mode could be interesting, not in the vein of just "a really hard game that punishes you for dying" but that could add interesting gameplay elements.
For instance, Fallout: New Vegas had a Hardcore mode which made you required to drink water, eat food and sleep in order to avoid some pretty devastating bonuses (and eventually death). It made ammo more rare, as well, and also made it heavier to carry.
While I wouldn't want this carried over into DA, a mode that adds another gameplay element would be interesting. Given the desperate nature of a post-Apocalyptic world, this Hardcore mode made FO:NV seem even more barren and unforgiving. I'm not sure what a DA equivalent would be, but I would be open to talking about options on it.
