Not curing the genophage and killing Mordin are literally Renegade options though. When you shoot him that's a renegade interrupt. Whether you find that option more ethical is up to you but it is renegade.

It is sorta dumb that with Wrex alive, you HAVE to betray him if you don't want to cure the Genophage.

For Wrex alive or dead, there should have been an option to tell the Krogan the Shep would not cure the Genophage, and try to get them to help later (or have them side with the Reapers?). Lucky for me, I wanted the cure the Genophage.
