Makes 3 months I intentionally do not promote my characters. Probably would be today with a N7 rank around 6000. I stopped promoting them, simply because there is no practical advantage in the game. You get nothing when you do that. Many players have left to do it for the same reason.
What I want to show is that the N7 not rank shows how experienced a player is, how good he is, because that rank is not calculated based on wins and losses the player within various difficulties, enemies and scenarios.
It does not indicate the quality of the player, but the amount of "hours of gameplay".
The minimum reference use, are the weapons that others carry and if the guy is smart time to combine the equips. And even if this means little as it can have good weapons and good equips, but not perform well in game, or a good internet connection, or whatever.
That is, if the rank N7 is totally fake, then it is totally useless! : P

Many of you need to learn how to disagree with someone and get your point across without being beligerent, nasty and insulting (SavageEpic - all you did was repeat yourself over and over again with increasing venom without really making a valid point). If I see a logical fallacy or an invalid point I'm going to call you on it, period. I didn't realize how full of caustic, venomous and angry people there were on the BioWare forums; no wonder they had to crack down on their user policy.

but i still say, the idea is about as stupid as they come. N7 means nothing, gues logic means nothing to OP.

The proposition I proposed is based off the correlations I've have observed for the past two months. Tell me with a straight face that out of the last 100 matches you've played that the majority of those with high N7 ranks sucked and the majority with low N7 ranks rocked and you will have actually countered my argument intelligently as opposed with just logical fallicies and ad hominem attacks. Your arguments from anomoly and citation of exceptions aren't compelling, sorry. Even if what I suggest is only 50% effective, it would be worth it not to have to wade through the concourses of noobs and trolls and cheaters by that much. I am sorry if this offends a niche playing style group who is anal retentive and refuses to promote their characters, so what; you comprise probably 0.01% of the total skilled player volume on ME3 MP. Someone mentioned in an earlier post they hate getting kicked because of a low N7 rank even though they're good; my advice is to do what most other players figured out the first week: if you want clout raise you N7 rank. Is the N7 rank an absolute indicator of skill or experience... no, but I think, and probably most others on MP, that it is a good prima facie case of that likelihood. I think just looking at someone's equipment is an even worse indicator than their N7 rank... I've seen people with fantastic equipment and guns equiped just utterly fail on platinum; (in fact, a challenge I play with my friends is only begining and common weapons on platinum - we do quite well actually - ultra rares are a bit overrated imho (I have them all unlock and between 5 and 8)). This all being said, I think the poster I quoted last hit the nail on the head for the most part, and that there's a snowball's chance in hell that BioWare would ever implement my idea. So calm down, and don't get your knickers in knot; and don't accuse me of being an elitist or trying to get a self-serving edge (how did you come up with that btw?!?!?)

MY EYES!

Your correlations mean jack****, alot of people level up only 1-2 characters and dont bother with others for long time, hell one of my buddies who has playd since start, still has an N7 of 270 something, still i bet he would whoop the floor with same enemies that rape you. and for the record, he does not promot unless the mission requires it. Also alot of the more skilled people, simply dont promote, hell i have seen an n7 ranked at 180 topping the scoreboard in our random games 3 times in row, because N7 means about as much as the air coming out of your ass, after an hour later you have eaten a bowl of peasoup.
In platinum it means less, what matters in platinum is that you got some decent gear, your willing to communicate, and use consumables if need be.
also it is a shame the user policy doesnt prevent stupid suggestions like this being created.

WRONG. Here's what I think the requirements should be:
To play Bronze, you require: N7 50 or higher.
To play Silver, you require: N7 6000 or higher.
To play Gold, you require: N7 80,000 or higher.
To play Platinum, you require: N7 1,257,000 or higher.

No.
Seriously am I the only one who thinks the N7 should be removed from public view and reserved for the leaderboards only.
