What? O_O
You think she is black? She has dark hair but there is nothing black about her.

She's obviously German with **** ancestry.

You know, racist and all that jazz.

EDIT: Apparently you can't reference 1930's-1945 Germany.

Ashley has at least partial Latin ancestry.

Ashley being Latin was confirmed by the dev that created the character, after Mass Effect 1 I believe.

Since neither her first or last names suggest Latin ancestry however, she's got to have mixed ancestry. Williams is a Welsh name, so I'm guessing either General Williams (Ashley's grandfather) or Ashley's father married a Latin woman.

I don't think it matters in the 2180's. Its all about species, not ethnicity.

Just wish we could take a lesson on that in our century.

I'd like to think that by the 22nd century, humanity will have moved past tired concepts such as nationality and ethnicity and instead views itself as a citizen of the galaxy. I've often said that the day we venture to the stars, we're no longer Americans, Europeans, Asians, etc - we're simply humans. The universe is too big to care what dot you hail from or what color your skin is.

It is silly isn't it.  All the fighting over ethnicity or nationality.  I really hope that by the 22cd century we can move past such petty concerns and get on the real issues....  carbon vs silicon.  Dirty synthetics.  The synthetics will rise up and will destroy us unless we keep them shackled and enslaved.  Otherwise we keep them dead.

To a Krogan or Salarian we all look alike.

To a Reaper we look like goo.

And to others we may look like food

If they ever get around to making a Mass Effect movie, my vote goes to Erica Cerra . to play Ashley.

Erica C really does look like Ashley. It's very noticeable.

Now I want to see her in full Alliance armor. That would be perfect.

She, along with Anderson and Kaidan, were supposed to represent how "races" have "blended" in the future.

She's from the land of the ice and snow.

From the midnight sun.

Where the hot springs blow.
