Gibeau just said that the game will be considered a failure unless it's easy enough for your grandmother and sells 10 million copies. That Gibeau guy should really hire someone to speak on his behalf. That guy is amazing. In any given context, If there's an actual thing that is the dumbest thing a person in his position can say, he'll say it.

Which old school are we talking about, here? DAO? Knights of the Old Republic? Baldur's Gate? The BG games were actually streamlined and simplified compared to older CRPGs. (I started with Blade of Destiny. In my day, we had to walk to our adventures up hill in the snow. And if we didn't bring snowshoes, winter coats and at least two blankets our characters would catch the flu and die.)

Mass Effect 3?

ME is an action-rpg hybrid, not a pureblood rpg like DA is.

ME1 is basically DAO (which is also no "pure" RPG) with guns.

ME2 and 3 are more or less interactive movies. Not really rpgs at all.the only rpg about them is that you can level up your character and increase on of (4?) skills.

You're wasting your breath, the game already IS dumbed down and "streamlined", and they're sticking more with all the BS stuff that DA2 introduced than going back to their roots. They're too damn committed to their new pandering mentality and too concerned about mainstreamlining everything so that braindead chimps can get through the game without getting confused.

If it isn't obvious enough, BioWare don't WANT to make RPGs any more, and so-called "Dragon Age 3" will be no exception. Just another watered-down, story-driven action game with light RPG elements that relies too much on cinematics and uses them as a crutch that dictates the gameplay instead of as a tool to enhance it.

It saddens (and even sickens) me that there are so many people supporting BioWare and Dragon Age 3 in these forums considering how they've treated the fanbase over the last few years and the way they pretty much murdered the Dragon Age IP with the second "game" in the series. They'll never learn so long as people keep throwing money at them and don't have enough integrity to walk away when they should.

Really? That seems like an incredibly high bar. How could they expect it to sell more than DA:O and DA2 combined?

Is this sarcasm or truth? I totally believe you BTW. That dude is a massive tool and he said something similar about Dead Space 3. If he really did say that, sounds like they're trying to kill the DA brand off...

Yes BioWare, please make this game as cluttered and unintuitive as you can. If I don't have to use a calculator to figure out what piece of gear is best for me and then have to go through 10 sub menus to equip that piece of gear I'm going to be really mad.

Dragon Age already is dead. They killed it with DA2. All Inquisition is is BioWare reanimating a dead corpse and acting like it was never killed.

"Streamline" is an over used word these days, i dont think they really did that at any point for DA2 bar the potions and alchemy system (for the better, i should add) The leveling system was more complex, the combat was the same only not as well designed - the encounters suffered from feeling cut and paste and random waves appearing out of nowhere.

The main problem i had with DA2 was the lackluster story.. sorry, it just felt like it was all bio of a boring character in hawke and a lead up to a more interesting story to come in a later installment, a few writing decisions like your end choice resulting in still fighting both sides felt very contrived. Also the environments all being the same and it all taking place in one city (An idea i liked the sound of before hand)

All of this seemed pretty much fixed in the 2 add ons, so i have alot of hope they can do better for the 3rd game.
Streamling was never really a problem for DA2...a myth i think.

All RPG games should be bundled with calculus books and the autobiography of Srinivasa Ramanujan.

Which old school form of rpg? Are you talking about Temple of Apshai, Telengard, Legends of the Lost, Wizardry, Bard's tale, Alternate Reality, temple of Elemental Evil?

Shall we go back to turn-based combat? Shall we have weight requirements? Food and Water Requirements? Weather conditions that can cause freezing death or heatstroke because the character is wearing heavy armor.
What do you mean by old school?.

Now you stop this logical crap this instant and let them get back to vague generalizations!
