Alright so I'm getting ready to playthrough ME2 again after getting Arrival and I have a question or two about the DLC. From what I've read the suggested order is Overlord, Arrival before suicide mission, and LotSB after for some changes in dialogue with Liara. I romanced Liara in ME and have already beaten LotSB prior to the suicide mission before, so how different is the dialogue? Is it really worth saving until I already beat the game? Any different suggestions on the DLC order?

Also, how far can you progress into the Kelly romance before it's considered cheating and impacts the romance with Liara in ME2/ME3?

Any help given would be appreciated.

Overlord, LotSB and Arrival can all be done before or after the suicide mission.

However, plot-wise I think Arrival feels best done last. It very much feels like the final bridging step between ME 2 and 3.

Overlord pretty much stands up on its own. I don't think it matters in the slightest whether it's done before or after. Feels fine either way.

LotSB I would actually recommend doing before, simply because it unlocks the ability to respec your companions - which can come in handy in getting rid of those useless talent points which just get in the way **cough couch Jacob's Barrier, cough, Thane's Shredder Ammo, cough cough** The dialogue doesn't vary too much - there are a few extra lines throughout the DLC if you romanced her in ME1, and there is also an optional scene at the end where Liara can discuss your ME2 love interest, but of course, if you do LotSB early enough, you might not have an ME2 love interest established yet.

As for Kelly, I really don't think a romance with her counts as a real romance in game terms. It doesn't unlock your Paramour achievement and won't interfere with you having a relationship with any other crewmember. Possibly this is because you can only have dinner with her and get her to feed your fish prior to the suicide mission. You can do more... romantic things with her only after the suicide mission. If you follow this order: suicide mission - romance Kelly - LotSB, then I don't actually know whether Liara will acknowledge Kelly as your Love Interest, but judging by the fact that the Kelly romance isn't acknowledged in any other way, I would assume not.

Romancing Kelly in ME2 is, however, crucial to having her as a love interest in ME3.

The weird thing with Arrival in terms of when to play it is that you get given it really quite early on. Feels a bit odd being given another urgent task and then sticking it on the back burner, but it also seems odd that it wouldn't be the "another way" that Harbinger says they'll find as the Collector Base goes foom. Probably after the Suicide Mission makes more sense and you'll just have to ignore how early Hackett calls you to give you the mission. One minor difference between Arrival pre-SM and Arrival post-SM is whether you have a short conversation with Harbinger as himself or the Collector General. Far as I can recall it's the same conversation either way so a very minor difference.

Lair of the Shadow Broker is definitely worth doing before the SM for all the reasons Ferretinabun suggests. I saw somewhere round here someone say you can consider it Shepard's own loyalty mission, and I suppose doubly so if Liara is your current love interest. It's also got all that loot in it.

As far as DLCs go, I'd suggest:

Overlord - early in the game
LotSB - somewhere in the middle, before SM
Arrival - do it last, after everything else. In fact, don't install it until you've done the SM, sorts out the "important assignment pending that we do nothing about" problem.

And as far as DLCs go don't forget Kasumi! It's great DLC, a bit short maybe, but the content is fantastic.

Btw, just checked on the wiki. Apparently in ME3, as long as you strike up the Kelly romance first, it doesn't register as the 'locked in' romance at all and you can quite happily persue a romance with her, and another character as well without ever getting the "It's them or me" confrontation you would get if you persued any other two romances. You can quite happily be a complete two-timer with Kelly. Interesting...
