I support OP NO to annoying virtual version of France. Really if the accents are going to be too French i think i will not be able to tolerate it.

BW next time please put the story in TEVINTER and allow us to be a powerful magister there. Tevinter is inspired by the Byzantine Empire which much richer and ancient than France. We could explore ancient cripts and fortresses of the old Tevinter Imperium.

Tevinter FTW

And then we would have to put up with annoying Italian and/or Greek accents? Image IPB

Everyone from Tevinter we've met has had a British accent.

On that note anyone else notice that Britist people are always evil in US games? As a half-French person I couldn't be more pleased, but even the Empire in Star Wars The Old Republic is compoesd of British people(ok they're not really speaking with British vernacular, but they portray themselves as having a posh British accent).

Well... everyone from Ferelden and Kirkwall also has a British accent in DA, so I'm not sure if that counts.

Orlais is the most powerful and prosperous country in Thedas, as is belabored in the codex. It's also the epicenter of Thedosian culture, learning and politics; the seat of the most important social institution in Thedas, the Andrastian Chantry; and home to the Templar Knight-Vigilant and the White Spire's Circle of Magi, probably the most important outside of Tevinter.

For it to not enter into the DA series in a game the premise of which seems particularly promising for Orlesian involvement would make basically no sense, imo.

For God's sake... Can anyone actually read my posts? I am not questioning the idea of an Empire, living through Blights, etc. I am questioning of level of humor that is low. I am questioning the idea of the Empire of idiots, dancing around with their fancy clothes, and around are people who actually look like they are fighting Blight. Armour, language, real problems oppose to just the huge impression everything is funny.

Orleasians seems to be a bunch of idiots who are too stupid to be killed by darkspawn. Maybe they are darkspawn themselves, who knows. Orlais doesn't fit within DA universe. End of story.

According to a lot of the lore the Orlesian Chevaliers is the one of the deadliest and feared soldiers in the Dragon Age Universe.

I, for just one person, am looking forward to seeing a megalopolis and more of the Orlesian countryside with the new engine.

Kirkwall was supposed to be sprawling based on views from various locations around Kirkwall, but it felt far too confined despite their attempts to give it the impression of a large city. The same goes for Denerim.

I'm hoping that the new engine gives them the ability to create expansive areas that feel expansive (even if they're not really expansive -- a feeling I did not get from either previous Dragon Age games).

Orlais seems like a good place to put the new features to use.

Not a lot of people open to a different culture I take it. It totally makes sense to me why a different country would have a different accent and language and I find it interesting and intelligent that Bioware have reflected that into the game. I mean, you don't see a person raised in France speaking with a British accent, surrounded by the French language and culture o'plenty.

First I was joking. Hence the Image IPB

Second- I think that the same rules for accents that posters apply to the accents in Orlisian Empire should also apply to the accents of the Tevinter Imperium.

I can understand not wanting to have a game set in Orlais for reasons that Xilizhra mentioned, but it seems pretty weak not to like Orlais just because you don't like French accents, real or fake (which seems to be the primary problem people are having).

How is it weak not to want to constantly hear accents you find aggravating?

I really hope we get to go to Orlais. Also Antiva, Tevinter, Seheron, as well as more Ferelden. How could anyone not want to explore all of Thedas if you love the DA games? :? I really can't understand the complaint over various accents. Don't people here travel the world? Variety is the spice of life, embrace it!

Why not Orlais? Country with the most powerful political and social standing should be the center stage of DA3. Backstabbing politic makes it even more attractive choice for "choice does matter" theme in DA.

Who the **** is this?

XD

If that's what goes in Orlais then count me out.

If this is Orlais however:

Count me in as it would clearly be a fascinating place to be.

It just seems strange that people would want to avoid interesting parts of Thedas because they can't adapt to hearing a certain accent.

Besides, not every French accent sounds to same, so it seems unfair to write Orlais off as a lost cause because of that. Sometimes I feel like people really think that the Isolde's accent is legitimate or that Leliana's accent is representative of French women as a whole. I wasn't particularly keen on female Hawke's accent, but that doesn't mean that I think all British accents are grating.

I've heard that the Orlesians have hidden all the good cheese so obviously that's why the PC will be sent there. DA3 is a cheese-filled treasure hunt.
