I've heard that the Orlesians have hidden all the good cheese so obviously that's why the PC will be sent there. DA3 is a cheese-filled treasure hunt.

Fun fact- Sheryl Chee loves cheese. She could write that in, I imagine.

Thats only if you put Alistair on the throne, of course. Anora sends you there for shoes instead.

Ohhhhhhhhhhh, so you hate the French.

Well, that makes everything better.

Hate is a very strong word and it's reserved to emotions that are ugly and very, very bad. I don't hate French, I am not even American:P All I am saying is - I find everything related to French and their culture (well, almost) irritating as hell and boring. And from my point of view, what BioWare made in the past, and regarding the Dragon Age lore, reflects that perfectly, which unfortunattely, isn't good for the game itself.

Well do tell me, which country are you from?
I'm interested in taking a dump on everything about your country.

I'd rather say no to the OP.

I'm over Ferelden.

A game set in Orlais sounds far more interesting.

I'm not over Fereldan, but I'd like to explore other parts of Thedas.

Orlais included.

I say YES to Orlais. I don't really understand how some people can dislike an accent so much; that type of mentality just seems incredibly intolerant.

Heh. This is what I hear:

Dear BioWare: I don't know what Orlais looks like, or how you'll use it, but there are French people there and they're stinky. I've decided I want something else, which in my mind will look way better.

To whick I can only responsd: Thanks for the feedback. I guess we'll see? :)

*Pssst..* Don't listen to them.

I say yay to Orlais,
You say nay but thats OK,
Because its not really down to you,
Its up to the devs, whatever they choose.

You may not like it,
But thats too bad
Because I think DA3
Is going to totally kick-ass.

As for accents,
Say what you want,
Intolerance is futile,
And also kinda dumb

I think it's great that so many people see the corruption that is rampant throughout Orlais. Thankfully, I see this as a good thing as it will really give the environment some political depth, which is frankly always interesting.

I think Bioware should go through and flag the accounts of everyone who is an Orlais/French hater. When people with a flagged account register their game, it activates a special version of the game, DA3: Isolde Edition. A game voiced entirely by Louiza Patikas.

Orlais'd be a cracking place to go. All the best elements of medieval culture can be mirrored - aristocratic scheming, war, religion, etc, with Thedas' own twists thrown in. Why wouldn't you want to see it?

well, i would want to see orlais, but i do not in any way want a game only playing there (!) even more as the title shows we are (or at least i think we will be) part of an organisation that runs a lot of things from either behind the scenes or directly (on a global scale!) we should not be "restricted" to orlais (also it would kind of fit...but well, i would love to see more of the DA-World without being confined to orlais)...i would not want to see everything though (because that would leave no content for further games and might make the happenings hurried and without details and such)

greetings LAX

Look on the bright side, if the game is set in Orlais, then it stands to reason that you'll mostly be killing Orlesians! Just play the game with aggressive speech to ****** off all the Orlesians while trying not to think of how you are being just as bad, if not worse than they are!

You must be American.

That's odd. The (unfair) stereotype here is that the British hate the French.

Must be popular media getting all the signals internationally mixed up making people who rely only on them get the wrong ideas.

This thread seems to show that Orlais is quite welcomed from a majority. That's good. While BWE doesn't require our individual approval, it helps to know when they have major support which, in turn, benefits us with the end product.

Oh la la! I stopped reading at "French culture" and "boring". Pascal, Marie Curie, Molière, Voltaire, Victor Hugo, Sartre, Monet, Gauguin, Renoir, Debussy, Ravel... and Luc Besson beg to differ.

That, and I trust BioWare with their voice acting. They haven't let me down yet.

From the PAX video I'd say we will be going to Ferelden, Orlais, the Free Marches and maybe even a bit of Nevarra. So just assimilate that fact and get ready for decadent luxury and strong accents (possibly).

Hawke: "Orlais this, Orlais that. is there anywhere people on this forum don't talk about this?"
Varric: "No, and I've looked, believe me, even the rats in the technical forum are following this mess.
Merril: "Really?which side are they on?"
Varric: "About a third support not going to Orlais, a third support going there, and the rest support more cheese for both sides."

I can understand not wanting to have a game set in Orlais for reasons that Xilizhra mentioned, but it seems pretty weak not to like Orlais just because you don't like French accents, real or fake (which seems to be the primary problem people are having).

How is it weak not to want to constantly hear accents you find aggravating?

It just seems strange that people would want to avoid interesting parts of Thedas because they can't adapt to hearing a certain accent.

Besides, not every French accent sounds to same, so it seems unfair to write Orlais off as a lost cause because of that. Sometimes I feel like people really think that the Isolde's accent is legitimate or that Leliana's accent is representative of French women as a whole. I wasn't particularly keen on female Hawke's accent, but that doesn't mean that I think all British accents are grating.

so you would sit and listen to a lecture if someone was running nails on a chalkboard (and mind the only way to listen to the lecture is to listen to the nails) or would you get up and find another class? Because if you can do that more power to you I'm not.

No they don't all sound the same. But the majority of the ones BW grated on my ears. I'm not paying for something that's going to annoy me. That's my right as a customer.

Agreed. They've already explained that it will be in Orlais, so... why the sudden attempt to argue it?
