Jesper Kyd is a lot better at ambient music, something that doesn't quite fit the DA series that well. I'd say get someone who can make really epic scores like Lorne Balfe personally.

Considering how bards are used quite frequently is Orlais and Orlais is most likely a location in DA:I I would really like at some point the option to hear a Orlesian bard sing.

That guy made the music for Assassins Creed 3....and oh how I missed Jesper Kyd who did the previus games. I don't believe in a single person doing all the soundtracks for one game, no matter who it is. That said, I believe Jesper Kyd could make some really epic music for DA 3, depending on which way they are going with the franchise. Welcoming the PC to Val Royeaux to the tunes of a Jesper Kyd track, just like he did with Rome, Constantinople, Venice etc. That would be a moment to remember, just like the first time you see the citadel.

I thought AC3's score was overall incredibly superior to the precious games. Jesper Kyd had very few notable tracks, in fact. Venice Rooftops and Ezio's Family come to mine from AC2. Nothing in Revelations from him stood out, however many of Balfe's tracks did during those epic moments of the game. AC1 I'll give Jesper his credit for, the ambient music was incredible- and that's because that's what his strength is.

Dragon Age has thus far been a more epic and loud orchestral feeling, something Jesper Kyd doesn't really a good job of.

I think we simply disagree due to different taste. I believe Jesper Kyd has done some brilliant orchestral tracks as well if you look back trough his history. He did a lot of good orchestral tracks for the hitman series.

Listening to AC3's score, they just feel wrong. The composition of the AC 2 tracks felt right for the time and place. Some of AC3's tracks feel misplaced somehow, too much electronic influence in some of them.

Don't get me wrong I think Jesper Kyd is great and enjoy his scores tremendously as well, I just don't think they fit this particular series of game. I do find his epic scores lacking (as I'd mentioned,) and find that Hans Zimmer, Inon Zur, and Lorne Balfe all do superior jobs in that area of music.

Also AC3's tracks were influenced by the time period, just as AC2's were.

While we're covering good examples of music used in the fantasy genre,

Game of Thrones Season 1 Soundtrack

Game of Thrones Season 2 Soundtrack

If anyone finds those worthy, you might consider Ramin Djawadi.

One of the few TV Shows I've watched wiith a half decent soundtrack. Whoever did the score for Suits also did a decent job (barring the main theme.)

I have my favorites from the GoT soundtracks, most of which are the tracks that involve Daenerys Targaryan and The Dothraki(Love in the Eyes, When The Sun Rises in The West, Fire and Blood, Finale, etc etc) Good tracks, excellent instruments used, and would totally fit Dragon Age if used in the right places.

God those soundtracks are amazing.

If we're talking TV soundtracks and ancient instruments, it would be remiss of me not to mention Bear McCreary's work on Battlestar Galactica.

Tell me you couldn't picture this for a Qunari invasion.

More good stuff.

I will admit though, I am quite fond of Qunari on the Rise.

I know I am probably alone in this but I would love to see something with more of a classic rock influence, probably not the best choice for Dragon Age but I still weep for Dark Souls as it would have been a perfect fit and would have made the game so much more awesome.

Heh, I'd argue its a hell of a lot better than half decent, but thats subjective. ^_^
