Good.... too bad BO2 will outsell both of them eventually. Though seeing as how BO2 will have RPG elements and might even be good RPG elements, I wouldn't mind it for once.

I like how in one side quest in BL2 committing suicide is a legit choice with a tangible benefit unlike in ME3 where one's "choices" merely amount to disposable dialogue and other fluff.

Are we talking about the sidequest from Handsome Jack where you jump off a cliff, die, and get paid for it when you respawn?

Because that was fun as hell.

I'm not so sure about Borderlands 2, just based on the trailers I've seen.

Recently tried the co-op for first game, and it was fun, but the game world and the story doesn't appeal to me in the same way that ME3 did. The focus seems to be on collecting loot more than the quests.

I plan to buy it at some point, perhaps when it goes on sale, but if there is ever an ME4 I'd probably pre-order.

MP games are a lot easier to sell than SP games, especially when it's the first major MP game of the year.

BL2 on PC for me and takes advantage of far superior graphics over the console versions.

Yep, because Skyrim is totally an example of an average single player game, right?

I'm not defending Mass Effect 3 or bashing Borderlands 2, I'm just saying that multiplayer games sell more than single player games ON AVERAGE and Borderlands 2 was the first major MP release of the year, that I can think of. So, it's not surprising that BL2 sold more than ME3, especially when Mass Effect had a small fan base to begin with.
