i sense another me3 moment via dragon age 3

ME2 is considered the high point of the series isn't it? I hope DA2 was the DA version of ME3, and that worse isn't in store with DA3.

When I heard about ME3, I almost wanted to be like:

"SEE, IT SUCKS, DOESN'T IT??!!"

Because I had played DA2 already, I wasn't even remotely surprised.

The Warden appears possessed by a powerful fade creature, so that way he/she can have a voice, and you must save him or her in a side quest. After you do, the Warden is unable to speak temporarily because magic and then a dialog pops up where the player gets to choose how the Warden should mime back to the DA3 player character, like 1. Nod 2. Salute 3. Fist Bump. Anyway, this goes back and forth for a while until finally the player character and the Warden decided start a medieval fight club (all dialog options inevitably lead to this) and then Anders shows up and blows up more buildings and then the credits roll.

that is a really good idea but i hope it was more then just coincidence that pulled the warden and hawke away to the unknown.

i have a perfect idea for a future dragon age game if they ever bring back the warden they could me3 him i.e. if shepherd dies in me2 you play with someone else in me3 it'll work out perfectly.

I don't want to revisit my Warden like that, no. Sorry.

For one thing, I would like to think my Warden went more than 10 years before going to her calling. I mean, Alistair said they had about 30 years. And since DA3 I'm guessing will take place between 10-15 years after my Warden became a Warden...yea.

For another thing, that assumes an awful lot about my Warden's personality. My cannon Warden became a Warden against her will, and viewed everything she had to do as chore. My next two Wardens were both selfish, power hungry jerks. So, it would be completely against all their characters to have a moment like that. The only Warden I had who actually would do something like that was the one who gave his life to kill the archdemon...and he's already dead.

all really good points but it's still a viable option for those who's wardens are dead

p.s imo i don't think bioware would ever do that but you never know

That's not an option in ME3, is it? I was under the impression that saves where Shepard died at the end of ME2 were just not transferable. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think I am.

I've said this before, but I still think an entire game can be built around searching for both the Warden, Hawke (and hell, let's through the Inquisitor who will probably disappear at the end of DA3).   This would give you, as new character, an excuse to meet old companions and characters (who might want to come along, or who you might have to track down to see if they know anything), revisit old quests (and locations -- finaly an excuse to reuse maps) and see their resolutions, and also be taken in new directions.  Not only that, but this would be a good game where you don't actually need to find the Warden or Hawke but just find out their fate.  Is it cliched?  Yes.  Does that matter?  No, not if it is done right.  Could you tie into Silent Grove and other canonical non-canon resources?  Absolutely.  Bioware needs to make this game.

That would invite WAY too much criticism. Our Warden can't be voiced. People, like me, would flip a **** if the Warden started speaking with a voice other than the one we heard in our heads when we played Origins. Then there's the actions the Warden and Hawke would take. I thought answering the Calling would be a sufficient conclusion for the Warden, and obviously I was wrong. Imagine if there was an entire game and even just a significant portion of a game where the Warden, Hawke and the Inquisitor all took on new personalities dictated by Bioware and not the player. 95% of the players would be up in arms.

I can't see that ever working. And I honestly think the Warden and Hawke disappeared into the sunset because Bioware can't write endings any more. David Gaider and other writers for the games post here all the time that they prefer "open ended" stories with more "mystery" than closure. To me that sounds like code for not being able to think of a satisfying ending.

When did I say you would actually find the Warden or Hawke or The Inquisitor? In fact, I think this is a way to have closure without ever having them appear. You don't need to find them, just need to find what happened to them. The end of the quest could be like ME2, and the heroes could be goo that makes a Reaper, for what it matters. All I said was a game where you are on a quest to find the heroes of Thedas, not where you'd have a beer with them.

First off, the idea of a whole game being about finding all of our previous PCs and never actually finding them sounds atrocious and surely warrant another ME3 ending-style sh**-fit.
Second, however the PCs ended up in whatever situation they ended up would still be construed as them doing something out of character. If a Grey Warden going on their Calling is too OOC for some people, then all of the PCs gallivanting around on some quest that leads to their deaths would be wildly OOC.

bioware has painted themselves into a corner when it comes to the warden and hawke but sooner later they are going to have to take a leap of faith and try to resolve the issue not just ignore it.

Nah, not really. They can just jump forward in time. 40 years or so into the future, everyone dies of old age (well, except maybe the Inquisitor). Or they just stay disappeared.

Or they give you a small... mini game like thingy that lets you decide the most IC course of actions for your characters and there are small changes in whatever game includes that thing to accommodate for your choices. Of course, they'd have to provide a reasonable amount of potential fates... Hmm.

Does anyone not remember that Grey Wardens live up to 30 years give or take. Our warden had to be in their early to mid 20's at the time of their recruitment. Taking one year off because of fighting Darkspawn and defeating the Archdemon. Then 7 years for the events of DA 2 to take. Our Warden has 28 years left until their calling. Also depending on how long DA III takes place after DA 2.

I honestly think the only satisfying way for the previous protagonists to appear is to make them playable in brief segments (I've posted my lyrium flashback idea before, but I'll say it again)

So say as part of one of the Inquisitor's missions he/she does retrace Hawke and the Warden's footsteps, while doing so he/she encounters lyrium pool and, upon touching it, lives through the memories of Hawke and/or the Warden. Thus, a playable segment and some justification for xp carrying over back to the Inquisitor. Appearance and leveling the character would still be a headache though.

Because she's the defacto leader of the mage rebellion.

The leaks suggest that the mage/Templar war doesn't play much of a role in DA3's story though. Just saiyan.

The fact is that she will play some role in DA3 and she'll be a 60 year old warden.

Those aren't facts at all. We don't know that she'll play any role at all in DA3 or when DA3 will take place.

The fact is that there is a mage/templar conflict and another fact is that Fiona has taken the lead of the mage rebellion.  The fact is that these things have already been stated as part of the DAIII plot.

That is just sad that they won't give any closure.  This series just blows.  What's the point of importing anything?  I actually like the idea of allowing the Warden to go on a calling, but not in the new game of DAIII.  To me, the Warden is too important and has too big of a fan base to be treated like a npc or, even worse, a codex!

The Warden's Calling needs to be at least a twenty hour expansion of you going into the Deep Roads for you calling.  But it's not going to be any calling, because this isn't any grey warden.  This is THEE Grey Warden and its going to shake the darkspawn up like it never been shaken before.  And you take Ogrhen and Sigurn with you!  You and your small party will be your own Blight against the dark spawn!  Because killing darkspawn is warden's business, and business is booming!!

I'd seriously buy this game before I bought DA3. It would be a great way for you to say goodbye to the Warden your own way instead of just reading about his death in a DA3 codex.

lord aesir not a bad idea but it'll probably never happen because when bioware were doing the questions of the month about DA3 they never asked any questions about story elements only about in game mechanics i.e would you like to change the appearance of your weapons if you had choice which to me means the story is done for better or worse.

What they can't all been captured?  Like by Flemeth as many have suggested?  There are all sort of contrivances for how the three of them end up together.  As to your first point, Bioware opened this Pandora's box when they insinuated that the Warden and Hawke both disappeared.  So how do you include both characters, both imports and still respect all of the choices made... it's not worth the effort.  I think they should have killed off the Warden in Witch Hunt... but that's just me...

While I'm at it, can we please have this conversation in a game:
PC:  You knew the Warden?
Old Companion:  Yes.  We fought together.
PC:  What was he/she like?
OC:  Quiet.  He/She didn't talk very much.

C'mon Bioware... you know it'd be fun.

Not everyone roleplays their wardens as bad 90s action heroes.

Doesn't make for a satisfactory story though :/

And no, that's not really funny. I really, really dislike it if I play a "silent" protagonist stuff like that happens. Especially in a game where the protagonist actually talks, but is simply not voiced. My Wardens can be very chatty :|
