I actually liked your post. I mostly play supportive but do experiment with "killers" lately. Gave me a good insight on the engineer and actually every class.

Agree completely on combat drone, especially on Gold. I think alot of teammates in higher levels don't understand the effectiveness of the drone for support....just from the perspective of distracting high level enemies to allow you to work down barriers and shields for 5-10 seconds...makes a huge difference. I can't tell you how many spots it has gotten the team out of on Drone Escorts for FWGG. Interesting suggested use of the drone for Phantoms, but I have to think about more than Phantom behavior, plus if I can just distract them for a few seconds I can take them down most times. But I definitely have the Human Engineer as one of my 3 favorite kits.
I fully understand the Drones capabilities. I just don't like how easily it dies. It's good against Reapers like Brutes and Banshees, but hardly anything else. Besides, Overload can drop a Banshees barriers faster than gun fire.
If you haven't tried the stalking, zapping bomb yet, I would recommend doing so. It's pretty funny to watch a few assault troopers die in one blast because they all killed it.
At any rate, thanks for the feedback. Just don't go making assumptions about what people understand and what they don't, because in this case, you're dead wrong.
Thanks again.

Hehe, Thank you.
On a side note, if you didn't know this already, the Male and Female Engineers have the same powers, so if you already have a preferred setup on one character you don't need to reset, you can just use the other Engineer.
I'm thinking of making a thread somewhere regarding setups for characters.

yeah, about last post..
Why would you take 30% damage on Overload instead of +1 target? 30% gives you only 66 damage on first target, that's incredibly low, especially on gold, but +1 target works great, especially on geth. And I doubt taking 5 upgrade "Neural Shock" - it's harder to aim to lying enemies..
Also I'd never take Fitness over Combat Drone, but what do i know ^^ But really - it can save your life in many, many ways, for example - distract banshees and brutes while you uploading or smth.
I can see why an extra +1 hit can be helpful, but I'd prefer damage. As any enemy I'm shooting at isn't standing for long. It's all down to reaction time, if you can stun and drop a target in under 2 seconds, the +1 is obsolete. Not to mention the 2 sec cooldown. As for the low damage, my gear bonus and the Alliance Training bonuses makes up for it. Not only that, but I use Overload only to take shields out or incapacitate an enemy.
As for Neural Shock, it's a support upgrade for me. If someone is about to executed, incapacitating that enemy is easier than trying to shoot him and risk a team mates death.
Combat Drone is good for distractions, I know this already. But it doesn't live long enough to be a decent distraction. A few Marauder shots on Gold and the drone is history. Utterly pointless unless used as a bomb that chases and zaps enemies. I prefer the extra health and shields over the Drone any day.
But overall, my class is built to tackle all factions, not just one. So while a drone may be helpful against Reapers, it's useless against Geth and Cerberus.
That's why my class is the way it is. I've experimented with it a lot, and this is the preferred setup. Everyone has their preferences I guess, mine just isn't liked by many.
Well, drone not exactly useless against Geth & Cerberus) the best use for it - Atlases, Phantoms, Guardians, Geth Primes & Geth Turrets and finally all infantry units (like Cannibals) affected by it pretty much. it gives you those 1-2 secs to get away if you pinned down, or make some damage.. especially if it's explodes with 600+ damage.
And about Overload - the point of +1 target is when you alone fight 3+ enemies, especially geth (whose just go forward all the time), it's critical to stagger them as often as possible.. and since Tech Bursts are too weak, to normally stagger Hunter or Pyro - well.. for me it seems, what Overload - controlling ability, not damaging.. for this you have Incinerate anyway..
But sure, I agree - everyone has their preferences, even for weapon - I doubt you'll ever see my eng with anything except Carnifex, which is not exactly the best gun in the world, but still.. )

The Engineer's great. The power recharge speed is insanely fast, not to mention the abilities make light work of any opposition. Glad to hear you'll be testing it sometime, if you have any feedback after using it, let me know.

Well, as I said before, I can see why the drone may be useful. I just tend to drop my targets before they get too close anyway, so a distraction is never needed, at least, not for me. But yeah, I can see your point. No hard feelings intended.
As for the Carnifex, it's a great pistol, I remember using it for ages. That was until I found I could get +192% recharge speed with the Phalanx and Indra equipped. You should play around with the weapon weights, you might find that you can use one of your preferred weapon setups. Unless, of course, the Carnifex is your favourite weapon.
Edit: If you're on Xbox 360, we should party up some time if you're up for it?

Eh??? Hoping you weren't thinking this was directed at you because as far as I know we have never played together. Frankly, I think I was responding to another poster's point, not yours. Simply making an observation about what I personally hear and see during my playtime. There is a general underappreciation for the role of the drone in distracting high level opponents of all sort (works on Primes, Banshees, Brutes, Mechs, Phantoms)...I have personally been snickered at in Gold PUGs for using it, watched folks burn CMs unnecessarily, etc...but it has bailed out the team too many times to count.
No assumptions, just personal observation which is all I have to go on.

@ FROI M, it is very annoying, isn't it? There are some classes I don't like. The drell adept being an example. I feel, for me, his health and barriers are too low. I don't mind at all if others play a match with me using him, I just don't like using him myself. But I would certainly never start calling someone names or saying bad things to them because they use him. I just wish that minority of people would have the same consideration.
