Your Quest Ideas.

The Quest: the very thing you spend 90% of your time doing in any RPG. There's the main quest, side quests, companion quests, and things I'd reduce to simple errands (thanks mage collective and blackstone irregulars...) 

Now I'd like to give Bioware a big thank you for not boring their players with endless fetch quests as most games tend to do.  They really do think outside the box for quests. (As much as I love Bethesda, they tend to be, "Go fetch this and come back. Go get this and come back. Go do this and come back." and that's all.)

And I wonder just what kinds of quests there will be in DA3. Also, what ideas do any of you have for a good quest, whether it's main, side, companion or what have you? I assume the main DA3 quest is probably already established. Side quest suggestions/companion quest suggestions are probably going to be taken into account since they most likely still have room for these. 

I don't have any suggestions that are too specific, and perhaps that's stupid to map out a quest suggestion in detail. But I really love quests in which I have to solve a mystery or a puzzle. Something that requires a bit of a gumshoe approach. I also love (this sounds weird) being decieved in quests. Like someone says: "Go to the lake and you can find blah blah there" and then I go to the lake and there's a trap (poison) or an ambush of enemies. Then that branches off into further dialogue, leading into a more complicated quest. And so on and so forth.

Another thing, I'd love to see a quest for special/cool looking/very strong weaponry or armor - based on whatever class you picked. In DAO I was miffed that the cool/strong armor was just staring me in the face at most vendor sites, and there was no quest to get it - you just had to have a lot of coin.  yawn. (Except for Wade's emporium, but I dunno, they could have done more with that other than "Hey uh go find some drake scales somewhere." They could have given me a location, totally separate from the other stuff I was doing.)  I know I'd run across equipment on random quests, but I'd like a quest to center around this prized armor or weaponry. That has a bit of a King Arthur feel to it, you know?

Things I like:
- mysteries/puzzles
- deception
- find the sword in the stone 
- also hunting quests are fun, as well as sneak-thief quests (e.g. mark of the assassin)
- I love party-crashing quests too. Crash the wedding, assassinate the bride, etc. In Oblivion, my favorite quest was the Daedric quest that sent me to a fancy party, demanding that I cast a spell that made everyone walk around in their underwear. That was like a party-crashing-prank quest. 
- Fade quests are ok, but I get tired of going into the Fade and coming back empty handed. When you're a mage in DA:O you can talk the desire demon (in Connor's Fade) into teaching you blood mage abilities. That's cool. I'd love to come out of the Fade with - I dunno - some ability that lets me summon a demon to fight at my side (despite my class). Kind of like how in Skyrim you go to the Soul Cairn and come back with the ability to summon a demonic horse, as well as a demonic dragon. And it doesn't matter what class you are. (Too freaking cool for words.)

As for companion quests, I think DA does a good job with these. Everything from damage control with companion's family/friends/coworkers, to "find my crap because I lost it", to "I like this guy/girl but does he/she like me back?", to covertly snapping Isabella's brastrap on a dare (jk). 

Alright... suggestions, ideas, make them fun (and make them doable)

 I think each specialization should have a quest chain, and you only get one specialization per game. So when you do the quest, it's a serious decision to make. 

A few quick examples:

Blood Mage: First, you would need to research the name of an appropriate demon to teach you blood magic. Then, you would need to gather the components for the deadly ritual. Once that's complete, you need to actually summon the demon, and convince it (via coercion, questing, or "favors") to teach you the Blood Magic.

Spirit Healer: You seek out tomes detailing the most powerful of healing magics. While doing so, you discover a Spirit that could teach you these skills. In order to prove your worth, however, you must first show your willingness to sacrifice and strive, healing the villagers of a town caught in the crossfire of the civil war.

Force Mage: A mysterious group of mages who have mastered Force Magic would be willing to teach you in exchange for some minor favors. There's a catch, though: They are located in the heart of the Tevinter Empirium, whose borders are closed due to the wars ravashing all sides of the Empire. You'll have to fight, bribe, and sneak your way into Tevinter to even begin your search for their hidden citadel.

That's just a few ideas I had. I'm sure the other two classes (and other specializations for each class) could be easily worked up.

spirit warrior spec quest idea:

the way to acquire the spec could even be something of an easter egg towards origins, how about if we go into the fade in DA3 we find the spirit of valor (the one from mage's origin story) and he challenges us to a duel in exchange for information for a quest, if you're a warrior the spirit could then be intrigued by your skill in martial combat and then asks the players if there are mortals with as much skill as you, if you pique his interest by saying yes he then would make the offer that yours and his spirit merge to give valor the opportunity to do honorable battle with skilled mortals and in exchange endows the player with powers.


...or something like that.
