There was a nice discussion about stealth in the DA2 forums located here:
Stealth - from Origins, through DAII and to MotA. Where next?

I was curious to hear more opinions on stealth, how people want to use it or see it implemented. Are you hoping to see more stealth in DA3? It would seem that an inquisitor would have a good use for stealth, being able to sneak up and over-hear NPC conversations and be able to use that information during interrogations.

What do you think?

My opinion from the other thread:

I think it should be restricted to the rogue class (or as user Philippe Willaume mentioned, limited speed for mage/warrior class restricted by armor). If noticed or caught while using stealth, it should have a consequence - fight breaks out or warden/hawke/PC has ability to try to 'smooth talk' his/her way out of it using coercion/intimidate skills. The ability to assassinate while in stealth mode would be great! I did like being able to sneak up in DAO to disable traps and scout out enemy locations.

The 'distract' ability in MotA was brilliant!

I don't think sneaking works very well in a party based game, or indeed any game that isn't specifcally set up for it

Actually, I would love to see real stealth be useful in the game. Opening up options as to how to solve quests, etc. It would be cool if you could have a splintercell like stealth system, you have to be in darkness/cover for it to work. Kill someone from stealth and you have to hide the body, etc.

I think the stealth in MoTA was kind of lame though.

As much as I love stealth, and almost always take the stealth route in games, I would HATE this. Play Skyrim for that kind of stealth, it has no place in a party based RPG.

I love stealth.

I think most people that either hate or whine about it are just lazy and want to hack and slash their way through a game.

I hope we do get the option to be able to have stealth in the game.

I don't know, I found stealth to be incredibly useful in Origins... not so much in DA2, but like I've said before, I could have just been 'doing it wrong.' XD

A typical rogue run for me was to get some points in survival and then halt the party when nearby enemies were sensed. Super easy to enter stealth mode, disable all traps in a room/area (maybe lay a few of your own) before talking halt off and stabbing the nearest threat in the back.

*sighs* I don't even understand it. Looking at the subterfuge tree, you really do have the same options, although I don't recall being able to set traps? And there weren't really any missions that seemed to benefit more from sneaking passed enemies (as opposed to diving right into the action.)

Sometimes I even found attempts to sneak being foiled by cut scenes. XD I'm sure that must have happened in DAO as well, but then, the burglary quests kind of made up for it.

Hmm... maybe I'll try to do better when DA3 comes out. I think I just got a little stab happy in DA2.

And this was a useless ramble, I apologize.
