I agree that the blood of dragons thing was a little less complicated than I expected. I guess if it involves the Witches then I expected something less mundane and more... world-shaking. Although, I suppose in the end, it was world-shaking. I guess it makes me wonder even more now at Flemeth et al.'s endgame. If they manipulated the creation of Ferelden as a country... why? Hmm... still collating. I did very much appreciate, however, that Varric called out Alistair for being a "special snowflake." Bwahaha. Best. Line. Ever.

On Mae, I had to do a triple take as well to make sure I knew what I was seeing. I agree with the others that she must be transgender, and IIRC David Gaider made a comment recently about how we would be seeing another such character soon, one that definitely would not be used for comic effect like Serendipity. Does anyone else recall that?

I remember DG saying that too.

What's all this about Ferelden being manipulated?

Without special-snowflake!Calenhad, there would be no Ferelden. Presumably it was his new fangledy power that allowed him to unite the tribes.

Keep on spoiling....anyway there's so much spoilers by now ...

King Calenhad was the first king of Ferelden , he united the barbarian tribes (by being the strongest ) and more or less created Ferelden as we know now.

There are many tales about him , he had a special armor made by mages etc...

But it seems the truth is the guy strike a deal with a unknown witch , drank some dragon blood and kick everyone's ass pretty easily.
I think he also invited the Chantry in Fereldan , it's funny because what he did is very close to "forbidden magic."

The Warden could drink dragon blood in DA:O. I wonder if he/she would get silver tongued powers from it too?

LOL Yeah, an unknown witch with a predilection for bikini tops and feathers... But technically, they shadowed her face, right? So who knows!

Alright , an unknown witch who's probably Flemeth .
I guess the yellow eyes gave her away ...

Still why would she bother to make people reavers ...I don't know.
Maybe to keep some dragon blood flowing , should they all get killed by humans.
Oh and obviously in the tales....Calenhad VANISHED!

But you're not a hero in Thedas if you don't disapear somehow...

Oh man, he did!??!! /rushes to wiki... LOL Now I'm imagining some kind of Thedosian Elysian Fields™, a resort beyond the eluvian where all the heroes of Thedas are sitting by the pool drinking margaritas and waiting for the call to arms for the End of Days.

Yeah that and the fact she has her old hands in every major event in the dragon age :D .

But anyway discerning atm the reason behind Flemeth and her faction (aka the witches) actions is a pure guess work.
We have a lot of shadows of half clues about her goal so is quite hard having a valid point about this discussion.

Exactly. I mean, now she's nation building in addition to manipulating a return of the dragons? I want to know... and I sorta hope they never tell us. She's like Deus Ex Machina incarnate... in a cool outfit.

She's obviously got a plan. Whether it's for good or bad remains to be seen. Sounds like she's putting things into place for when something big happens.

... I'll ****** my pants if she turns out to be Andraste reincarnated or something!

Read it. Freaking awesome. Cannot wait to see what happens next. Dragon Age comics have never let me down so far.

And I had to laugh at the special snowflake comment. Nice lampshade you hung on that, Mr. Gaider.

All right can somebody just straight up spoil me on the whole thing since I probably won't read this until its all out?

What is the deal with Maric and the dragon blood exactly? That one image looked like Maric was just hooked up to some demonic dialysis machine or something. Does the comic give any explanation as to why Titus or whoever wants his blood? Is Flemeth in the comic?

Calenhad was given dragon blood by a Witch; presumably Flemeth; which passed to his descendants. Titus is using the dragon blood in Maric to power his spells because he wants to restore Tevinter to its formers glory. Varric destroys the device hooked to Maric which seems to have affected Titus. I assume it severely weakened him.

Or more specifically, the witch told Calenhad to go to an old, almost dead dragon and drink its blood, using his own run of the mill dagger. I would have expected there to be some kinda  witchy, blood magicky enchantment or enchanted dagger or something... but that didn't feature in the story Sten told Alistair. I was wondering if that meant any Joe Schmoe could have gained that same power. And, that dragon apparently just... sat there the whole time, according to the summary graphic of the encounter, like it was giving up its blood or something.

Thank you!

So is Flemeth physically present in the comic at all? Or is she just kind of hinted at in some kind of visualization of Calenhad's backstory?

I guess my question still remains though- why is the dragon blood so important? We've seen a ton of reavers and not many seemed terribly special. Is it the notion of King's blood + Dragon blood? Or is it some special Witch / Dragon blood combo?
