Oh, I get it. Varric is recounting what happened and he's lying about what went down with Isabela.

I got that impression too when he says "Isabela wasn't tempted by the fade. Not even a little bit" (or something similar), whilst in actuality, Rivaini is completely taken into the lie that she's a devout follower of the Qun. It's quite nightmarish indeed.

But what I want to know is how they ended up in the fade. Does the big-glowing-red-orb-blast suddenly transport then there? How much goes on before the preview and what happens afterwards? I'd like to find out but for now let me introduce you to Jim the Qunari:

Posted Image

Jim was affectionately named as such by Varric, after a buddy he knew back in Kirkwall who gave that very same facial expression. Interestingly, Jim actually listened to Alistair's command to wait and didn't get killed by the Dragonfire. He instead managed to miraculously survive the attack on Ath Velanis but ended up leaving the Qun to become a prostitute. Rumour has it that most people hire him for this hilarious facial expression, rather than his skill in bed.

I read it , I'm a bit tired so I didn't understand everything...
Anyway ,Bianca I hate you !
Stupid crossbow .
There is this really sexy picture of Varric , and the crossbow is just there in a very annoying way.

Oh and the magical egg of doom has a name , it's a "magrallen."
Otherwise it's ...well , i guess it's sort of a filler episode .I'm looking forward to the end , I think it's next month.

Soooo, Alistair and Maric's appearance in the Fade is Maric's dream, not Alistair's? Did anybody else get that impression? Oh and I'm so glad we got to tread back through Isabela's Qunari/Mommy issues again so that the Maric scene could end as a cliffhanger.

I enjoyed the 2nd issue a lot. It's my favourite so far. Alistair is still the dumbest one in the party ^_^

This issue was filler. Nothing great happens. The orb Varric shot heals itself, so that was for nothing. Though we can assume it was by shooting the Magrallen, it wasn't explained how they wound up in the Fade. We meet King Maric but he doesn't get to say anything meaningful before the issue ends-- and he could just be apart of Alistair's dream and not be the real King Maric at all. Oh, and we meet Bianca-- though Varric rejects her because he knows he's in the Fade.

I'm wondering- is the last dream Alistair's, or Maric's, or somehow a combined dream for both of them? I always assumed Alistair's fade dream would involve being a Grey Warden with Duncan still alive. Thoughts?

That was actually the Warden's fade dream back in Ferelden. Alistair's was over Goldanna and the longing to have a family. I think that longing translated here as well but with the hunt for Maric, he's put his father to the forefront this time which makes sense if you think about it.

I get the feeling that this Alistair didn't romance the Warden, or maybe the Warden even died. I'm questioning if a romanced Alistair would flirt with Isabela even if taken in by the dream. Maybe if he was hardened (no dirty pun intended).

I was wondering all of this, too. I was starting to think perhaps it was Maric's dream instead of Alistair's because of Mae's comment about going in the wrong direction. If it's Maric's, maybe that's why Alistair is such a different person than in "real life," with the snobbiness about being called "your highness" and flirting with Isabela.  Perhaps it's a projection of what Maric would imagine Alistair would be like if he had been raised by Maric... i.e. a "brat!Alistair" could be part of Maric's self-flagellation about ditching his kid, since it's supposed to be a nightmare?

Othewise, if it's Alistair's dream. Hmm. I could see it focusing on being in a big happy family with Maric since he's pretty focused on finding his dad. But, the personality changes still seem... odd. Maybe he imagines that being raised by his dad as Prince means he never became a Warden himself and therefore never met the Hero of Ferelden. Then it sidesteps whether he was involved with him/her.

Alistair and Isabela have been pretty flirtatious throughout this whole series from the get-go, so I'm tempted to say this is an Alistair who never romanced the Warden. I sort of wonder if there'll be some post Alistair/Isabela hook-up after all is said and done.

I don't really see a mutual flirtation, myself, altho I know many do. I shudder to imagine the outcry if there's such a hook up, though! LOL

Yeah, I don't think it would really make a difference whether Alistair is in a romance with the warden or not. The dream seems to be an imagining of what Alistair's life would be like if he was raised by Maric and didn't become a warden, so in this dream world Alistair would never have met the warden in the first place (unless the warden's a Cousland, in which case I assume they would at least know who each other is).

And I also wonder if Mae's comment about going in the wrong direction means they're in Maric's dream, not Alistair's. WHY must you leave us with a cliffhanger, ye almighty David Gaider? WHY?!? My poor impatient soul can't take it Posted Image

What the hell is that brown thing Maric is riding?

Truly, the Fade is home to many strange and unnatural beasts. :P

This is going to be kinda out there, but could it be a wingless griffon? It's certainly no bronto, and the Grey Wardens of old used to ride griffons into battle. I can't think of any other mounts...

I sort of agree, it just seems to be them being themselves which is Isabela being flirty and Alistair being well....whatever Alistair is.

It's who they are.

I'm kinda hoping it's Maric's dream cuz otherwise Alistair is still awfully childish even though he would be... what? Almost 40 or something now? It'd be disappointing since it's been shown throughout the comics that he has changed drastically from the Alistair we used to know.

I am hoping it's Maric's dream too. I thought that Alistair was a bit of an a*se in the Fade.

Titus makes a great villain. And I still love Varric although it makes me sad that there will not be a romance for him based on DG's tweet :-(

C'mon, it's Ferelden. It's obviously some sort of overgrown mabari. They are probrably bred by royalty to be ridden into battle.

You know, I might be actually starting to like Mae Sure, she is a magister which means she own some slaves and performs blood maghic rituals but she shows respect to Alistair due to his kingly status and doesn't seem to be on board with the whole: "Mages are the master race" thing Titus has going on so, that's some points in her favor.

Also, I love the fact Maric's bodyguards are using the Ferelden armor introduced in DA2, such attention to detail is commendable.

I'm almost 100% sure it's Alistair's. It reflects his wish to have a family as well as his wish to have the burden of being king lifted from his shoulders. Meanwhile, Maric is acting the like the projections we've met in DAO. Subtly attempting to expell any intruders who might awake the Dreamer. "You're not welcome."

Plus, if it was Maric's dream, there would be some elven ladies around and I haven't seen any.

My inner Alistair/Anora shipper is all broody over the fact she is not featured in the dream.

Hmm well this is in line with the lore in World of theadas 1, basically confirm what Fenris say to Hawke.

Not every magister in Tevinter is a murderous, sociopathic, evil bastard. Tevinter is a bad place with a lot of bad things happening inside its border but you can find decent people inside it that act inside the limit of the culture which rised em.

Why Maevaris on the one picture woman but she becomes man on another?
