Hmm after seeing Isabela's clothing...does this mean this mean that Hawke never romanced her... or just the fact that drawing the armor she wears when romanced would take too much time?

Likely the former.

What is happening to that poor man's beard? It looks like it's forming some sort of arch over his mouth and making unholy communion with his mustache.
Is this some form of magical punishment in Tevinter? Truly, they are a cruel and unusual people.

Ok I just read it ...

So spoilers ....

The good news is No very cliché daddy sacrifice.I guess Maric was more or less dead for some time.
It was a bit of a let down for me , all this just to unplug an old man from his life support machine ...
Marric said something about Alistair mom being dead , so I guess no Fiona .That sucks too.

I'm not even sure I understood much about the main evil plan...
It seems like Tevinter wants to take control of something "divine " ( old dragon blood , golden city) to have enough power to reshape the fade and Thedas.

All of this sort of remind me of the Hindu god , Vishnu who's dreaming the whole universe.
But I think the fade from DA is really well not enough crazy , I don't know how to explain this .
I think it feels too much like characters are going to the shrink...That dream like quality is missing from the writing and the art direction .
And it may be done on purpose , but it just annoys me .

Anyway ,overall I'm pretty happy about the comics , it kept me entertained during the loooong wait for DA3 news^^.

I liked it, wrapped up things nicely. This issue was noticably much gorier than usual, but I thought the final battle was well done.

Also, it really couldn't have ended up any other way, surely :P

SPOILERS

Not bad. Sure, nothing really earth shattering as comics go; maybe it will feel better once I read the whole thing from "The Silent Grove" to "Until We Sleep".
Still, in the middle of all these mage-templar arguments, it's good to know the DA writers can show a comic where a mage is, unabashedly, the villain while still showing a mage like Mae who, despite being a magister, opposed Titus.

However, I do wish they had fought Titus outside of the Fade so we could have an actual fight.
Finally, I wished they had approached the subject of what this alliance between the Arishok and Ferelden's King means to the politics of Thedas.

Yeah, I felt the same. It seemed fairly straight foward to me; mages ruling over the entire world, unnoposed; with enough power to command dragons, souls, to even wipe out the memory of the Qun and Chant of Light.
But Mae seemed to know something that neither we nor Titus are aware of.

I don't think it's conclusive. Maric wouldn't know what happened given he was imprisioned for a long time and Alistair would assume he was speaking of Goldanna's mother.
I was less pleased with the suggestion Loghain is dead.

Read the final issue. My reaction: Well... hell. I thought it was an appropriate ending for the series, and true DG style ;D.

I really enjoyed ALL of these. I liked the format of telling each arc from a different person's POV, it gave some insight into all of the characters. I'm curious to see how any of this will be represented or carry over into the game, if at all.

I'm slightly confused about the "eight years"? Can we assume 8 years since Alistair was crowned? or since the blight? Certainly, Maric has been missing longer than that...this comic does take place after DA2 right?

Yeah that really puzzled me, it almost seemed like a typo.

Maric went missing in 9:25, and Until We Sleep seems to take place some time from 9:37-9:40.

All I can think of is that Maric was held at the Crows' prison for a fair time before being freed by Yavana. He then helped her with her work prior to his capture by Titus.

It's possible the eight years refers to his time in the Fade as a prisoner of Titus, not the time since he went 'missing'.

I think I just found two plotholes in the comic.
First, why would Titus try to kill Maric. If the mind of someone awake in the Fade is killed, the body dies as well. It just so happens Maric's blood is powering the Magrallen which is powering Titus. Meaning, if Maric had died, wouldn't Titus be severely depowered, allowing Alistair&Co to easily kill him?
If the Magrallen works despite its host being dead, why not kill Maric years ago? And if Titus was counting on Alistair being there, wouldn't two scions of Calenhad still be better than one?

I suppose there are ways of justifying this but it still should have been adressed.

Second; in the first issue, Varric shot the Magrallen but Mae explained it regenerated itself in the second issue. Why didn't it regenerate itself after Alistair destroyed it? Was the damage that much more extensive and the Magrallen has a limit to how much it can regenerate?

Very sad. :(

I thought it was a good "use" of the Fade, conceptually. I always think, like from Origins - and also DA2, that the most compelling thing about the Fade is, why would you ever try to challenge it?

I find the idea of laying down your burdens so easily very seductive. It's like a kind of heaven. (And also, not, obviously. But still ...)

PS. I also thought it was good that Varric was telling it  - because it lent it some distance.

This was my assumption as well, especially since his next line is, "It all seems like... days, maybe. Months," referring to the blurring of time that happens in the fade.

So Maric is very much not dead? Does that mean he's gonna take over the throne again? Could it be that Maric is just presuming that Fiona is dead, since in his mind she would've gone through the Calling years ago?

Also, none of the companions in it died did they?

Yeah, I agree that it's inconclusive. Maric doesn't only see dead people in the Fade. He sees whoever his dream warrants. So I don't think it's even conclusive about Loghain.  Of course, Alistair didn't correct him about "only" seeing those people in the Fade, so maybe that does mean "mother" and Loghain are dead in this particular canon.

I actually thought the most interesting thing was that we know Maric loved the mother, whoever she was. That at least says something, that if it was Goldanna's mom it wasn't just a random sewing of seeds at least. Also, I was honestly surprised that among the people he listed, he didn't mention Rowan.

I was also confused. As for the timing the comic, the first one explicitly says it takes place in 9:38. We don't know how long it took to go from first issue to last, but probably not long. So... eight years ago was when the Blight started... so maybe the point of that date was that Maric was at least aware of the Blight, even if he was imprisoned at the time...? Then Alistair's in-Fade comment about the Blight would make sense to Maric.

Lol, hell no! The bloody games worry me enough as it is with the possibility of them killing off companions, let alone the comics. If I don't read them then I can pretend it didn't happen.

The thing is, though, they *didn't* happen. Not for you, since you don't make Alistair King.

He's a Warden in mine, so it still happened... but slightly differently.
