White-ish? No. White.
I'm not going to buy a comic with her looking like that on the cover. It's very interesting to me that she's perfect on Those Who Speak but on the Silent Grove and this new thing she's unrecognizable?? What happened? And why hasn't this addressed or corrected?

~*~*~*~*~*~MARKETING ERROR~*~*~*~*~*~

That seems an oddly specific reason for not buying something. I mean it is one page and has nothing to do with the other 70 where she is drawn correctly, but whatever it is your perrogative.

Oddly specific? That is the only reason i'm not buying it...the only. And i'm not really interested in watching Alistair roam through the land being special or watching Isabela making porn face when she gets beat up all the time. But Isabela is in it so I would buy it. I would buy threaded panties if Isabela's face was sewn on it.

If it's just one page why can't they do it correctly? This seems to be a very stupid trend. Trailer (white) rendered artwork (white) ingame pic (white) silent grove (white twice) new fangled comic (white).
The first was explained as a marketing error. Do the rest not seem odd to you?

Yes, your reason for not buying it has little enough to do with the story, which is the point of the comic so her being white on 1 page out of all of them (not even a page that tells part of the story, but a compilation of all the covers) is an oddly specific reason for saying no, this isn't worth my money, because...trash. And  I can say her fighting/beat up face is nothing like a porn face at all. Unless you watch awful porn with awful O-Faces or confuse pain face with pleasure face, in which case I don't know what to tell you.

I've also never seen her white in game, unless you are talking about her in the Pearl in Origins, in which case that is lighting on dark skin and a fault in Origins and nothing to do with fandangling her appearace which is still obviously a dark skinned woman in Origins anyway. Or pre-release stuff only people who slog the internet even know about.

You're right...I never said I rejected it because of the story but, I guess that's the only reason not to want to buy something...right :I Not like your favorite character being defaced multiple times by the same people that claim it's a "marketing error" yet never correct nor address any of these supposed mistakes. KK, Bioware gets an A+ because it doesn't other things right...

I think "good" and "bad" porn is a matter of opinion. If it gets you off it's good to me.
No Isabela is obviously dark-skinned in Origins. Whoever thinks she's a pale red-headed woman is an idiot. In the book Cassandra throw in Varric's face in the beginning there are portraits of all the companions. Isabela is at the top and as light as Aveline for some unknown reason. I'll see if I can find the link

That seems like a rather flimsy justification. I now own the hardbook copy of the Silent Grove and the only artwork where Isabela looks pale is on the inside cover, where the entire picture is awash in pale light that makes Varric look lime-green. Throughout the rest of the comic, she has her normal brown skin colour and looks quite attractive.

That's sort of like refusing to read a novel because you don't care for the font they used for the blurb on the back. "Times New Roman? Peasants!"

You must not know how dark-skin works then. I feel for you, bro.
It's funny that you think I need or want your approval for anything. I mean not really but...well...here's a smiley ; so you wont feel so bad about your opinion not mattering.

You started this debate several hours ago, I only happened upon it in the last 30 minutes. But since you're being rude, may I say that I find it rather sad that you get hung up on such a minor quibble and that you believe my offhand comment is somehow indicative I value YOUR opinion.

It is a good comic. Your loss.

There is no debate...what in the world are you talking about? There is no question that she is white in these covers, there is no question that i'm not buying the thing. So...debate. Ha ha...ha ha ha...okay.

Yes, lightening the skintone of a dark-skinned character several times even after admitting the first time was a mistake is very minor. These things have consequences. This is the real world my man.

I have neither the time nor inclination to be rude to you, but feel free to read into my sentences however you like.

When did I ever say anything about you valuing my opinion...?

Good for you? Yet again you're giving an opinion that I care nothing for. Knowing this why do you give it? Thumbs up homie.

You seem to have a particular hatred for skin color screwups, and I'm somewhat intrigued as to why. I won't say your reason for not buying the thing is wrong, I'm just wondering why it's that major.

It's interesting that these "screwups" only seem to happen to Isabela. Anyway, to PM there are links.

Probably because she's the only major nonwhite character at all, aside from kossith. I doubt it has to do with Isabela as a person.

Doesn't the above poster mention that Varric is lime-green in the screwed up page? I don't follow this comic series at all but it doesn't sound like they've specifically miscolored one character, so much as an entire page.

Yes, but this has happened to Isabela many times. Most notably in the DA2 cinematic trailer, on 3 comic book covers, and even ingame (albeit once).

They make her white because she's the only non-white character? I...don't really understand where you're going with that.

Er...no every picture she's been made white is a problem. And I was talking about the cover for the newer comic when I made my first comment so...
I'm assuming that this is the picture where Varric is "lime green"...um...okay.
The ingame picture I want I can't find, but if I go into the game to cap it i'll probably forget i'm online and play for 5 hours.

I thought this was fanart at first...but I was totally wrong
It's like a real cover where Isabela is as light as Varric and Alistair.

Well... I can't speak for any other panels, but the one you mentioned is just all-around terrible.

How did a thread about a comic turn into ****ing about those bad people making a character too white. BSN crap I guess.

I won't be reading it though. Not because I hated DA2 and am boycotting it or something like that. I just don't think I would be able to afford it with all of the other books on my monthly list. And because Marvel>DC>Image>>>>>>>>>>>>>Darkhorse.

I know, the group shot in Cassanrda's book shows all the companions and Isabela's face is page tone, and Hawke doesn't have a face and it doesn't reflect his/her skin color either. And making her skin tone dark in the book with that art style would make it look jarring. Black hair blue bandana and dark brown skin would look more like a blob than a character given that the facial features for all of them are just black lines. And the cover of TSG hardcover she still looks darker than both Varric and Alistair given they are all bathed in the super bright light, you can easily tell she isn't of the same ethnicity. She is also on the cover of TWS issue 2 with perfect skin tone. And the promo pic from the writers blog I think you referenced is not in the comic nor a cover. The first issue of the third comic has Varric about to curbstomp a mostly naked helmeted guy.

BSN crap is posting 300 forums about how much you hate DA2 in the DA2 forum, and then whining repeatedly about how much you hate DA2 in the DA2 forums.  Gotta work on them rememberin' skills.

Things you said

Hawke doesn't have a face and is pale because Bioware has their default vanilla Hawke and he is white.  These people are professionals I expect them to know how dark-skin works and what it works with. Make her slighly darker than pasty would have been "too jarring"?

Facepalming here, please. Dark-skin does not turn white under the sun. It doesn't and it never will.  When I step outside I do not turn into Katy Perry it's impossible.
I know I mentioned that she had the correct skintone on the Those Who Speak cover already.
Why was it drawn? Even if it isn't the cover...the artist that is drawing the comic made her white again? And if he didn't color it...who the hell is coloring it?

You do know that quite a bit of the time, the penciller isn't the one who actually does the colors right? That is what the colorist does.

Um...Yes, I acknowledged that...in the sentence you're quoting........
And i'm an artist as well yet I color my friends junk when she's too lazy to. But you know I strive to be accurate. If they have a specific shade of pink hair. Who am I to make it blue?

You are like one of those people who bullied the official cosplayer of assassins creed out of deviantart for darkening his skin for the sake of accuracy.
Also, not understanding dramatic coloring.
What a pointless derailment.

Bullied? I really don't think you know what that word means. But carry on, son.
Ew brah, makeing yourself orange isn't accurate.
Dramatic coloring? I thought the was trying to be accurate?
Good day, sir.

Poor him...I guess. But I know many people that are sent death threats everyday because they talk about the bare minimum of white-washing. I'm really not all that concerned for him.

I'm sure most pencillers are capable of coloring. It is just that they don't. If you're going to get angry, please blame the right person.

I've not read the Dragon Age comics, so I can't say what the particular issue is, but colour mistakes show up in the published versions of graphic novels extremely frequently, in my experience. People's hair, clothes and yes, skin, can change from page to page or even panel to panel.

I have no idea why it happens, but it does.
