The comics are an alternative universe to the game. They are not supposed to be connected.
And as for your thoughts.........they have joked around. Perhaps you missed it. The characters have also grown too. They've changed.

!!!SPOILERS FROM SILENT GROVE AND THOSE WHO SPEAK!!!
Hey, does anybody know if these comics are canon? I mean Sten is the Arishok now, like canonically? I think I recall that Alistair being king wouldn't be canon if he wasn't in game but that doesn't stop him from going on a quest to search for his father. So can we assume the other things, like Isabela being captured and almost converted and her seemingly gonna change her ways, and Alistair being more bitter and turning ginger and the death of Yavanna and that other king dude... Can we assume these are all canon?
Gaider has said that it's not (all) canon. The books and comics follow their own canon, separate to what a player might have in their savegames.
That said, obviously certain things won't have happened in your Thedas if eg. Alistair is dead, or Wynne was killed, though it might not stop other things from having taken place, such as Sten becoming the Arishok. You can bet the next game will have allusions to the comics or more recent book regardless.

Looking forward to the next series. I enjoyed The Silent Grove and Those Who Speak and am eager to learn what this "blood of the dragons" business is all about.
Calenhad was the OGB of the Fourth Blight, where he carried Andorhal's life in him.
That's been my guess for the last few months, and lorewise it fits.

Though, either way, I'm finding the comics' implication that Calenhad only has a single line of surviving descendants fairly curious. Given the noble penchant for intermarriage and dynastic alliances -- which I assume still applies to Thedas -- you'd think *most* of the longstanding nobility (Howes, Couslands, and more than a few noble families beyond Ferelden) would be able to claim descent from Calenhad. Even if only through cadet branches, or matrilineally, or whathaveyou.
I was pretty sure the Drydens were descended from Calenhad, too, given Sophia was a claimant to the Ferelden throne.
In any case, I'm looking foward to Until We Sleep. Very much enjoyed these comics, thusfar.

You must be reading different comics than I am, because Varric cracks quite a few jokes and Isabela hits on Alistair frequently. Also, Alistair was always a badass.

That was my guess too, though I do agree with Ulicus about Calenhad having a single line of descendants being slightly curious.
Looking forward to see how it all plays out.

One problem with that theory: the elven hero Garahel died slaying Andoral. If the Dark Ritual had been done, would Garahel's life not have been spared?
I think it's more likely that Calenhad was the spawn of Flemeth.

Garahel was also blown miles away when the archdemon exploded . so its a bit difficult to establish how he died.
And their may be variants of the ritual

Unfortunately for me these comics are always about the characters I don´t like. (except Varric, but he was thrown there because everyone likes him). I wish we had more of the others like Zevran or Anders. Sometimes it feel bad being a girl in DA/ME universe. Your needs are always ignored in favour of trousers hating pirates, witches or bards.
Still if they make one about Merril I think I´ll stop reading them completely.Actually I am still angry that Alistair killed Yavana.
This girl loves Isabela and Varric. My favourite characters from video games in a long, long time. This thread reminds me I need to finish this comic season, I have 5 more to read. TO DARK HORSEEEEE.

Well it´s Varric. Varric is awesome. I thingk he is the only one (ok with Anders) I had full friendship. Actually he is the only reason why I read Silent groove comic. So if he is in this one, I will read it.
And I quickly warned up to Isabella. Well I did blamed her for starting war with Qunari, but then I realised that´s just very cool because it gives her great character. And moreove if I don´t blame Anders why should I blame her, because in my opinion they just did the same.
Still I kind of want other characters to have their comic time. Like Zevran. He was mentioned by Isabella...

Andraste was 240 years off of the First Blight, so I don't really think that's possible.Renmiri1 wrote...

Unless they mean "Andraste", the High Dragon that the Cult Of Andraste followed.
Either way, I haven't seen this theory at all, and don't see it being particularly valid.
EDIT: Actually, I could be wrong. The First Blight started at 800TE, but lasted until 992TE, into Andraste's time. So... a possibility then?

Dragon Age: Until We Sleep #3 cover

That preview has me PUMPED! That picture of the battle is exactly how I imagined a large-scale battle between the qunari and Tevinter mages.
I suspect that Flemeth will make an appearance in this comic...most likely as the mastermind behind the cult (she has the knowledge about the dragons, and she WAS around when Maric first went missing). I just don't see Titus as the big boss...
Thank you for the preview.
