Well I'm not sure it's the place to spoil a lot...but here I go ....
SPOILERS:










Well I felt the Reaver thing was a let down too.But I suspect human triumph over Thedas has a lot to do with dragons and probably witches of the wild.
It's funny because Calenhad existed during the Chantry area , and went back to dragons for powers , just like Tevinter went to the Old Gods.
And Sten/Arishok says "The ancient secret of your kingS and HeroeS..." so Calenhad probably wasn't the first .

And yes Maevaris is a "he" ...but I thought it was cool .

And finally Marric , after all this wait...now we have to wait again to know what exactly Varric did .Cliffhangers , I hate them .

Well, I thought it's very self explanatory.
SPOILERS


Titus was using Maric's Dragon blood to power his fire to the intensity of a dragon. Varric destroyed the magical device that enabled him to do so which should severely weaken him. So, Alistair is about to go "Abraham Lincoln" on his slaver ass.

Honestly, I'm so giddy about watching a magister get beaten into a pulp.

Well, I dunno if they can do gender realignment surgery in Thedas lol. But, since she presumably chooses to live as a female, then I would assume she prefers to be indentified as one.

In retrospective, I wonder if this means there's a bias against transgender people in Thedas in general or Tevinter in particular.

I don't think it proves anything...she just betray every magisters at the party.
She's also quite flirty .
A lot of people probably don't know she's a male ...anyway bottom line when you betray people they tend to insult you .Transgender or not.

She didn't really "betray" anyone. If anything, Titus did when he ordered his men to seize one of her party guests.
I see your point but the insult does seem disturbingly gender specific to me.

If Maric survives the third issue, I'll be extremely amazed.

I'm still incredibly underwhelmed Titus and Flemeth have been manipulating Calenhad's descendants for years just because he was a Reaver. I guess it's meant to be a big deal but it's hard to see it as such when we've killed mercenary reavers in DA2 and some crazy reaver hillbillys in DAO.

I honestly did not pick up what you are picking up. (Although I now think you're probably right.)

I read that part of the comic and saw an exposed woman. I looked at it quite carefully because it reminded me of when people were offended by something similar in The Witcher 2 and I was interested to see how it was handled.

My main thought was, "Well, at least this woman has small boobs." (Also, if your arms are above your head like that they appear smaller, too.)

So, I thought I had an opinion on how it was handled, but if she's a transgender woman, I'm sure there's a whole bunch of issues I haven't considered. Being exposed like that is likely completely different, I suspect.

Otherwise - I didn't really understand how the beginning linked in ...

I agree that the blood of dragons thing was a little less complicated than I expected. I guess if it involves the Witches then I expected something less mundane and more... world-shaking. Although, I suppose in the end, it was world-shaking. I guess it makes me wonder even more now at Flemeth et al.'s endgame. If they manipulated the creation of Ferelden as a country... why? Hmm... still collating. I did very much appreciate, however, that Varric called out Alistair for being a "special snowflake." Bwahaha. Best. Line. Ever.

On Mae, I had to do a triple take as well to make sure I knew what I was seeing. I agree with the others that she must be transgender, and IIRC David Gaider made a comment recently about how we would be seeing another such character soon, one that definitely would not be used for comic effect like Serendipity. Does anyone else recall that?

Reaver do ingest dragon blood prepared in a ritual. Sort of like the Warden's ritual. It doesn't necessarily makes them all powerful, but it might change them in a similar way that the Warden get changed, passing down the Reaver "taint" in each generation. There might also be something with the dragon blood used to turn Calenhad into a Reaver...
