Ia that picture an "official art" or is just "fanart"?

If it's the former....... glad to see a hornless qunari again!

It's cover art from the Dragon Age comic pulblished by Dark Horse.

I see...... I didn't have a clue about it because with DA and ME I just stick with the games, but don't follow theuniverse expansion through comics and books.

official.

And
hornless Kossith have always existed. Bioware's made it clear that there
are both horned and hornless, so as to maintain consistency and so that
you wouldn't see Sten with horns and have to deal with a "They were
there, you just didn't see them" rationale.

Yeah, i know, but I must be one of the few (if not the only one) who didn't like the redesign made in DA2

The original qunari were a horned lizardy-cat looking race that were going to be a PC race. The only evidence of that in Origins is the horned orge.

That's an imposter Sten. No doubt the real Sten died somewhere in DA2 - considering I murdered about a hundred "Stens".

Bad joke I know.  Hopefully I get to kick his **** in just like I did to the Arishok in DA2. I  always wanted to slap Sten with his one-liners in convos. Most of the time he'd only say one word to me. I didn't like him being snarky to my Warden.

Now I'm extra-excited for potential Sten/Kossith in DA3.

Ha, he's my favourite companion. And I never had a soft spot for "big stoic badass" type characters (or the warrior class). But I happened to find him well written, well voiced, with a deep personality and a cool story. Interesting contract between him being all about control and moral code and his murdering a whole family out of rage. Lets himself be captured and basically lets himself starve and die, yet what keeps him alive is obviously not just his uber Kossith constitution but also his will to be something better. A mix of abandon and dignity, selflessness and pride, cold reason and insanity. Overall, a very human, tragic character. With some funny lines too (and great finishers in boss fights !).

@Maria Caliban Is it really confirmed he becomes Arishok ? It does look like the Arishok's armour he's wearing there... Not sure how I feel about this. I liked the idea of Sten disappearing into the Qunari "mass", back to being a nameless, model Qunarihi, even though deep inside his time with the hero of Ferelden (if befriended) must have changed him a little bit.

Hmmm silly. And here I thought that I killed Sten multiple times all over in DA2 :D.

As Sten mentions it himself, Sten is not Sten's name but Sten's title. If he were indeed to become Arishok, he would likely not be referred to as Sten anymore but as Arishok (just like the Arishok in Dragon Age II gets called Arishok and not whatever his name is). The Stens you kill in Dragon Age 2 are just other Qunari with the same rank as Sten from Origins.

I want Sten to return as the new Arishok but what if you let the Arishok leave with Isabela in DA2, then Sten would just be the same Sten from DA:O

Plus since Sten could be killed in DA:O who takes over as the new Arishok if Sten and the Arishok are both dead.

This post makes me wish Sten was around for the whole ridiculousness that was Isabella in DA2. So much disapproval. In one of my 'evil' playthroughs of DA:O I recall Sten lopping of Wynnes head; Isabellas selfishness would at least warrant the consideration of such an action.

I'm not surprised by the posts by those who don't like Sten and its perfectly understandable. His initial impression on the player is not the greatest but for those who stuck with him and discovered all those wonderful moments in conversations, party banter, and (for me) him yelling epic Qunari battlecries (not all of them understandable, but epic nonetheless), you can get attached to the guy.
*DA:Origins spoilers*
The definitive moment for me was in my first time through DA:O and my reaction to Sten's epilogue after taking the Ultimate Sacrifice which, I must admit, made me truly sad:
"Sten bowed once before the Warden's remains and then left without saying a word...When fellow Qunari asked if there were worthy people outside of Par Vallon, Sten answered that in all his travels he had only met a single one."

Okay, thats enough of me being a softee. Off to go bash things with big swords n things.

He moved up within the same caste(which they can do). They can't switch castes/roles. I don't think he actively sought out promotion though.

This is true; contrary to what some believe, Qunari are quite capable of moving upward or downward within their caste; thus the mastery of which the Aristok spoke of. They aren't stuck in one job for the rest of their lives, if they become good at something, they are moved into a position to maximize that skill within the bounds of their respective caste. They can't move into the roles of other castes, but each caste has a diverse range of jobs they can choose or aspire for.

Oh man, I could imagine that; the Arioshok and Queen meeting in battle. They then pause and eat some cookies together along with the Queen's Mabari, Fluffums.

Given how the Arishok of DAII failed to retain the Tome of Koslun and/or Isabela if that path was chosen -- the veracity of the rumor being unknown -- I surmise that he's just getting too old for this **** and he's going to retire, because he was older then we thought he was.

They're still humans, elves, kossith, dwarves, and etc. (aka. thinking beings) aren't they? Although in the Qunari case, they're still expected to excell at their given tasks regardless of what motivation they use. Like the Aristok said: "They are free to choose within that role. To accept and succeed, or deny and die. Glory is clear and defined."

As long as you have the "right" aspiration or ambitions, it is within the bounds of the Qun.

Well their culture is highly collectivist as opposed to individualist. They don't have anything saying ambition is wrong/bad as far as we know, but have we ever seen an ambitious Qunari(one actively seeking promotion or self-aggrandizement)?
