Anybody have any idea which city it is?

What we know is that it's a large city that's apparently a crime infested hole which has gang activity. Which could be a lot of places. A few notable ones being Baltimore, Maryland, Chicago, Ilinois, and Los Angeles, California.

I personally would imagine my EarthShep being from Baltimore. I'm a Marylander and it's only an hour away from where I live.

In ME lore, Canada, the USA, and Mexico all united into one country.(The United North American States)  The accent could arguably spread.

I think the accent is supposed to be spacer/military. So Shep could be from anywhere.

Yep. Alenko is supposed to be from Turkey (or somewhere?). Also, the German/Italian/Spanish/etc. version Shepard certainly doesn’t sound like a Canadian…

I'm from New York, so I imagine my Earthborn Shepard is from New York too (cause it makes it easier to fill in the blanks).

Also I'm pretty positive Kaidan mentions in ME3 that he's from Vancouver? But I think he was born near Singapore, cause of the Eezo spill that made him a biotic.

I once saw the idea thrown around that perhaps, regardless of your Shepard's background, there's only really one "Shepard" family in the Mass Effect universe: Hannah Shepard's. And maybe that family is a famous military family, enough so that a criminal like Earthborn Shepard would decide to use their name while enlisting for the Alliance in order to hide his/her identity and crimes from the recruitment officers.

If you wanna implement that little headcanon, Shepard could theoretically be from anywhere in the world. The name is false, so it doesn't necessarily reflect his or her background, and maybe the accent was picked up while in the military or from whatever language tutorial Shepard used to learn English.

Shepard isn't an exclusive surname. It's usually spelled Shepherd though, but the spelling is a nod to Alan Shepard Jr., the first American in space.

I'd be more inclined to believe that the EarthbornShep borrowed the name from Alan Jr if it actually wasn't his name than from Hannah Shepard, who arguably doesn't exist based on your choice of origin.(case in point, if you call her in ME1, she mentions Mindoir. If there were other Shepard's living there in that Continuity and were related to her, that would be something important to mention.)

Detroit for my Shep too.  Having been there a few times, it definitely fits the tone for Earthborn.

I always figured that since Shepard's face-model was dutch, that he was from the Netherlands. But my head canon has him being Canadian-born, but largely celtic ancestry with some slavic thrown in.
