Tl;dr - Acolyte + Singularity = buffed.

But surely a power shouldn't depend on a weapon to make it viable? Singularity doesn't stack well with differing difficulty levels as there are far fewer targets it can reliably affect the higher up the difficulty levels you go. On Bronze it's fine, as there are plenty of mooks. On gold, you may as well not bother after the first wave or two.

Powers and weapons should work together if we're talking about effectiveness.  They should sharpen their strengths and lessen their weaknesses.  The Acolyte does both of those.  This is why things like a Falcon +Disruptor on a class with overload is amazing.  They work just beautifully together.  How is this setup any different? It absolutely DESTROYS Phantoms.

My guess...

Steal from Borderlands and make it revive teammates and suck enemies from far away.

-_-

Isn't it amazing how people find the most ridiculous ways to start babbling on about BL2?  "Hey, do you know if it's going to rain today?"  "No but the rain looks awesome in BL2."

Yes and I'm saying that the ability to pierce through shields may be a property of powers changeable through balance changes just like armor piercing is a property for all guns, it is just 0 for most of them. Shield piercing for powers may just be a true false balance change away.

Nope on both.

Cover penetration is what you're thinking of on guns. For powers there's a similar flag for "blocked by objects" in coalesced. Didn't see anything for affecting through shields.

Either way, Fagnan said that they're not going to make Singularity lift through Shields, but it WILL set a detonatable DOT effect on things in its radius, shields or not.

Eric Fagnan wrote...

The change will make singularity a decent damage dealing power with the ability to set up biotic combos, even on shielded enemies.

so singularity is gonna become a stationary lash... yeah that'd be cool but then you would need to buff lash ... or something... i just do not have faith as i once did in this game.. change this cause it sux, change that cause its not right... bioware you guys really ... need to just scrap this and make a me3.5 that is only MP, and fix all the broken **** b4 you put it out....

Well it still won't be able to CC shielded enemies, which Lash can do.

A friend of mine got the game when it came out...

Now I'm even more turned-off from it.

I had a dream that singularity got a visual change. It was a terrifying, black empty hole, rid of the purple hue that it once had and changed to a blue biotic. It had a AoE of justifiable strength and drained shields and primed units for BEs if you timed your detonator right. (A little wishful dreaming but I found it funny that I actually dreamt it) also the prime targets looks enveloped in disruptor-like visuals.

I know, right?  Sooo sick of hearing about it.  I'm hear because I love Mass Effect, not because this was just the newest space marine shoots bad aliens game.

I'm still flabbergasted by Drumm's post.  Holy crap.  Does he even have a clue what a gravitational singularity is?

I'm sure it'll remain with the purple hue.  The hue is naturally occuring.  A singularity is basically a miniture black hole.  The biotic makes a field that increases a few particles to "near infinite" mass.  So the black center is the part where the gravity is so strong that light cannot escape.  The hue around it is the Hawking Effect.  Previously we figured black holes would be invisible, but Steven Hawking figured out that they'd be surrounded by that sort of glow from the radiation around them (which if I remember my nerd classes right, is caused by light hitting the event horizon).

The best example you'll see in Mass Effect was back in 2.  At the center of our galaxy is a supermassive black hole.  That's why a spiral galaxy is spiral: everything is orbiting a supermassive black hole.  Anyway, the SMBH can be seen in the background after going through the Omega-4 mass relay or at the title screen.

What's sad is that he's usually a pretty respectable poster. If this is what BL2 does to people, I don't like it.

And a gratitudinal singing... that's like... a whirlpool or something, right? *shot*

I also hear that in BL2, you can actually play ME3 MP on one of the ingame consoles, and you have a full manifest, there is no Vanguard Glitch, ULM works on SMGs, and you can set the appearance of your character to NPLewes.

Sounds like it will be something similar to how Annihilation Field works (it sets up for BE against shielded enemies). Assuming that one of the changes will come in one of the latter three evolutions. If this is the case, then the Phoenix Adept might be awesome...

It's funny that people make these assumptions about BW "stealing" from BL when so many new things in BL2 are unabashedly borrowed from ME (threshers, especially blackhole threshers, singularity nades, pretty much everything about Sirens, etc.).

FINALLY, my favourite power in ME1 and 2 ended up being completely useless in ME3 where there are alot more viable abilities. Also can a dev confirm whether this will expand to SP?

I'd love to see this change. The human Adept is pretty much the only character that frustrates me; I can do a passable job with it, but no matter what build I use (I've tried 4-5 different ones) it seems pretty lackluster. I've seen a small handful of people play it well, but neither I nor 95% of the people with whom I've played seem able to get much out of it. The batarian Sentinel is probably the only character I've used less.

They mentioned it will 'affect' shielded enemies but not to the same degree Lash does. I wonder... do you think it might have a 'slow down' effect in a range around it? Or it slowly draws enemies towards it (so they are slower moving out, faster moving in, and if they don't move at all slide to the centre)...? Or perhaps it will prime even if it doesn't lift, but that doesn't sound a big enough change to count as an 'overhaul', does it?

I won't give everything away, but another change we're making is that detonating a biotic combo on someone in a singularity will no longer end the singularity.
