In Dragon Age 2 we had cameos from Alistair and Zevran... but they looked... weird. I think so anyway. I thought their faces were strange and were too different from their original facial design.

Alistair went from this.

To this.

W-what? What happened to his face? Is it so hard to get his import over his original face (I honestly don't know).

Zevran went from this cool looking fellow.

To this... creature.

Please fix Alistairs and Zevrans face for DAIII (If you can) and make sure no other returning characters have messed up faces! I bring this up because I think it is an issue DA2 had that everyone feels needs to  be fixed for Inquisition

It's already been tested and proven that it was bad lighting that made Alistair look depressed. - Link

As for zevran, he was rebooted with the new elven style.

Zevran was inevitable to change as they changed the elf model, but I never really understood what is so wrong about Alistair.

The one of his face? I guess bioware took it off.I wouldn't read too much into it since almost every elf such as merrill and the keeper got tattoo redesigns.

I checked that link and tbh it isn't the lighting that made Alistair look weird. His nose is a different shape and his overall design differs from the original.

Yes, he does.
His tattoos are on the side of his face that is turned away from the camera.
It's hard to see, but you can just barely catch a glimpse of one of them running just along the edge of his cheek.

The tattoo is on the side of his face that's facing away.

-snip-
Here's a better picture. :)

edit; For some reason there's a giant white space around that image. But, it seems there's no need for it anyway.

Hmm. I wouldn't say chubbier. Maybe just...rounder?
The change seems consistent with every other character model in the game.
The faces and bodies in DAII seem to have "softer" lines, as opposed to the sharper angles in DA:O.
But that's just my opinion, anyhow. :P

Anything is an improvement over the melted wax faces of DA:O

I would just like it if they paid attention to simple things, like eye color. Nathaniel and Bann Teagan both went from blue to brown. I wonder how that happened?

The problem was Bioware trying to shove old characters into the game to begin with, when DAO and DA2 are such different experiences, in different settings with different protagonists. I felt genuinely pissed off seeing Leliana in the end of the game when she and my Warden were supposed to travel together. I'm fine with Bioware making poor stand-alone products because I don't have to buy them, but not when they cheapen their previous works for the sake of unpleasant fanservice.

I know absolutely nothing about creating a video game, but since DA3 will be on a completely different engine than DAO and DA2, I wouldn't expect any returning characters to look the same.  'Different' does not necessarily mean 'bad', but everyone is going to gnash their teeth and freak out regardless.  If I were Bioware, I would try to minimize the cameos anyway.

Even in different lighting, DA2's Alistair didn't look that much like the guy we used to know. If there were a toolset I could use to tweak his face, I'd just try to mod it, but there isn't, and while we can import headmorphs made in the character creator, the CC in DA2 is very, very limited. There's a reason that across the presets, most male characters or female characters look "related."

I honestly wish we didn't meet Alistair or Zevran at all, if it meant that these strange looking dudes with their names were going to appear, spout a few memorable quotes from DA:O, and then leave. Zevran especially, with the bugged import info, would have been better off mentioned, but not seen.

It would be really nice if some effort were put into cameos, both in their model's appearance and their writing.
