I didn't mind how Zevran looked but Alistair... Posted Image

If he does show up again, I hope he looks like in Origins.

I always found it funny (and irritating) that Leliana's DA2 import model is *gorgeous*, but Alistair was made pig-nosed (he had a strong Roman-esque nose in DAO, wtf designers?!) and Zevran turned into Dobby from Harry Potter. Oy.

Leliana's simply really easy to recreate in DA2's character creator - I accidentally created a fair likeness of her while making one of my Hawkes - while Alistair isn't.  Largely because DA2's noses are rubbish.

And Zevran's difficult because he has to be turned into a DA2 elf

In this day and age it really shouldn't be hard to re-create a face on a new graphics engine.

Zevran wasn't in DA2. That was his fraternal twin brother.... with the same name!

I will cry a thousand rivers if Fenris shows up in DA3 looking like a drowned rat and Anders looks like he's put on 20 lbs and aged 20 years.

There was a mention about the availability to bring resources from the second Dragon Age into Frostbite 2. (This was in regards to a concern about having to rebuild everything for Frostbite 2.)

I did not see any mention of bringing resources from DA:O into Frostbite 2, yet. :( I'm inclined to think they're planning to use the second Dragon Age resources as a short-cut to development instead of DA:O.

As for Zevran, they had to Photoshop-smear him like they did with all the other elves to make them all the same (except Tallis).

The problem with DA 2 is why I don't want to see my FemHawke's face in DA3 (I think they were talking about Hawke cameos for DA3), because I am worried it will be borked, even though I couln't give her a jawline or prominent cheekbones, just a lot of rounded pudding face. And especially the Warden. I made my avatars face in DA2, she looked bored and possibly high. I think the problem was DA2 resources more than anything else. I acutally prefer how Leliana looked in DA2, I thought a lot of the makeup was overdone, along with the eyebrow arch.

Really, Alistair, Zev, Sandal and Bodhans crappy face make no sense when you look at Anders, Isabela, Cullen, Nate, Leli, Merrill and the Dalish keeper. Those where done well, so it really just feels like Bioware didmn't care about Alistair,Zev, Sandal and Bodhan and just did lazy job(Zevs cameo is well writen, but the bugs ruin it)

People could argue against that. I wouldn't say it was done "well" compared to their old faces, mostly because they didn't use their old faces. Maerthari and Merrill (as well as all the elves) look different (DUH!) but Isabela looks nothing like old self, and Anders jaw lane gets a lot square-r (?) and only in certain angles coul you see sorta where the outline of his face was before. Nate was propably the closest to the orginal. Cullen was certainly improved on. Even then, some eye colors and hairstyles were changed around a bit. Skin colors stayed consistent-ish though.

I heard that Steve Valentine said he wasnt going to be returning to do Alistair.
If thats true id rather not have him in the game then have him with a different VO.

Agree. Nathanial was a different VO (at least, he sounded different) and it messed me up a little. But a mjor character with a different VO (as in, required for DAO, and cameo in DA2) shoudl not get replaced with new VO.

Anders was the exception, but you have a "he is possessed" reason to suspend disbelief, and it works better than the snarky, flirty, party boy VO type he had before.

I recognized Stroud = Riordan (though that wasn't hard at all) and Varric = Leske. I'm positive there were others, but this was me thinking by ear alone. Maybe the gruffness sounded different, I dunno.

I thought Alistair looked fine. You also have to remember that this meeting with him is 6 years after the end of the Blight.

I'm more worried about how my Dalish Warden will look if I ever see him again...

Fem Hawke = "These men have been tainted" nurse from Ostagar (which I did, so....cheating)

I'm not too good at voice-by-ear unless it is insanely obvious, I guess. Or it is a character I liked a lot, like Varric.

And that is why I don't want my Warden or Hawke in-game. Ever. Their "story" (at least the part where you controlled their actions) is done, imo. In my mind, my Warden will NEVER look right, because I made them, they didn't

Also, DA people follow the Sims rule of aging. They will hit a magical age where they explode in sparkles and turn grey and get wrinkles.

EDIT: add and spell check

How did you import the Wardens appearance into DAII? Or did you just re-create her?

I took an insane amount of screenshots and recreated her in black emporium mirror, b/c I wanted to throw her in my game somewhere as a personal mod (like w/ Nathaniel, but it wouldn't have worked anywhere). I keep it to remind me how much I hate the DA2 engine. <_< Glad it will be Frostbite.

There does seem to be less detail with the DA2 faces, but overall everyone looks worse in low lighting, including Hawke.  It would help if the lighting in DA3 was altered so people didn't look so ugly in the dark, or make indoor locations more lit up, comparable to outdoors.

I actually didn't mind seeing Nathaniel and Leliana.  Their faces are all rounder, but Nathaniel actually looks better in DA2.  Bodhan looks like an elderly man in DA2.  When I first saw Bodhan, I thought, "What did they do to him?".

I actually thought Leliana looked better in DA2, but I was more frustrated with the lack of options for lips, pudding cheeks, and other issues (with FemHawke specifically) and that was because of the engine. I also hated the gremlins and some of the other graphic problems.

I literally had 16 FemHawkes, and all ended up with the same rounded pudding faces, with just different skin and eye colors. On the plus side, the nose was easier to do (I could stretch out the nostrils and not the rest of the nose). But some of the other conversions that didn't just completely change their look (like Isabela) were pretty sad, like Alistair.

I feel you on the Chargen thing. Favorite slider? Mouth Width...thanks Bioware for crushing my dreams like that. And the cheek width slider was already at max...what??? Why In the world would I want to make my Hawkes cheeks bigger? I wish there were more facial textures with definition around the cheeks and noses. So everything didn't seem so...mushy. Each feature just blended into the next.
Had to mod Sims 3 so hard to get rid of that.

Whoa betide any Elven Warden that shows up in DA3 thanks to the new elf design. =(

I thought some characters like Cullen, Leliana, and Nathaniel looked nice. Others, like Alistair and Zevran, looked awful. (I don't count Isabela, Merrill or Marethari because the devs just blatantly redesigned them.) I know BioWare is capable of making returning characters look nice, so as long as they're consistent across the board, I don't have any complaints.
