Yeh....this is a sham and a ripoff, nuff said.

The trilogy pack should be a complete edition with every last bit of DLC ever made for all three games and other special features(soundtracks, artbooks etc.)

It would be for a higher price of course but it would be a proper ultimate pack as it should.

But no, all BioWare and EA care about is money-grabbing.....selling the three incomplete, crippled versions only to turn around and have you dish a lot more for the DLC and then they don't even add anything remotely interesting to make the trilogy pack appealing to anyone. Hell they didn't even put the extended cut on the disc.

It seems like they really have nothing to offer besides disappointments these days.

The PS3 gets ME1 but it all seems a bit pointless now....too little too late and I wouldn't be shocked if they get the shot in the head version of the game too without ME2 actually supporting save imports.

Having been around since before the release of ME1 and tracked all games long before their respective releases I actually have every last bit of DLC, all comics, all books etc. .....a complete, ultimate experience to put it propperly but I still would have paid for a final trilogy pack if it were done right.....this is not it, they placed absolutely no care or attention in this bundle. It just looks like something they scrapped together in 5 minutes without any forethought or planning in hopes of a quick buck.

Yeah I doubt they will do that not being able to import our save to Mass Effect 2 I mean but if they do they will be the DUMBEST people ever.Image IPB

It seems like people need to start putting their foot down and closing their wallets. I have noticed quite a bit of this going on, and two of the current examples almost echo each other.

We have this Mass Effect Trilogy, doesn't come with any of the DLC beyond what came with the game at launch 2 years ago for ME2. And does or doesn't have it for ME1 based on your system of choice. Also unless they go out of their way and print new discs that don't have the DLC's on them, the PS3 version of the trilogy will probably end up with the most extra content for what we can assume will be the same price. Paying the same price for a multi-platform product that isn't the same on all systems is not at all fair to the consumer, and i especially feel bad for the Wii U crowd. Paying full price for one game that just adds a few gamepad features and a couple new weapons when everyone else can get all three games for the same price...again this is not at all fair to the consumer.

The other current example seems to be the Assassins Creed - Ezio Trilogy. It bundles AC2, AC Brotherhood and AC Revelations together as an exclusive pack on the PS3, yet they have announced it only has the DLC from AC2 included.

To be fair i am not sure about the Assassins Creed DLC's but the Mass Effect ones if you buy them all, or even just the story based ones, will set you back over half the cost of the trilogy itself which is ridiculous. The price for these really needs to come down if you aren't even going to include them in your "collection", with the games being reduced in price and bundled why aren't the DLC's?

Besides finally bringing ME1 to the PS3 crowd this whole thing seems like a quick cash grab. At least the C&C Ultimate Collection seems to be a decent and proper collection with all the expansions...it's just a pity EA have lost sight of what made C&C good...free-to-play game model, yeah because that's what fans wanted *facepalm* but i digress, that's a whole other gripe.

ME2 on the PS3 is running on the ME3 engine. Will ME1 be doing the same?

Now I can finally play all the DLC I mis...what the? Figures...

I predicted it'd be 2 years before a "COMPLETE" trilogy would be released, now instead we get the 3 core games re-released now...

Also the price, lol, what the hell? The Trilogy, with no extras, costs more than the 3 games, which each came with something, like a few free DLC, seperately.

Here in South Africa I can go pick up EA's budget copies of ME1 and ME2 right now for next to nothing and ME2 comes with the Cerbarus network code. Then I can buy ME3 full price and it'd still be cheaper than this Trilogy boxset that APPARENTLY doesn't come with any extras...

I'll wait for the Ultimate Edition to come out in 2-3 years.
By the time "Mass Effect: The Next Generation" comes out or whatever the next one will be called..

Bah.Don't go there. They murdered two series more. But, apparently, there will be micro transactions! You want mammoth tank in mission (any, even first one)? 5 bioware points and it'll be yours! Orcas' strafing run? 25 points. Supply cache from higher HQ? 10 points!
Yeah, I'm aware about "generals", but I'll stick to oldies-goldies.

How they suppose to fit planetside missions in those intestine-alike ME3 missions? Especially N7 - our hockey rink damn bigger than they are.

Given lack of imagination, there is very high probability that this is the name of next one ME

Yep and given the trilogy doesn't include the dlc the only point I can see is for PS3 players to buy a hideously overpriced copy of ME1.

PS3 players can buy a copy of ME1 from the PSN for 15 bucks. I just hope the save files can be imported into the next game...

All Mass Effect games (ie. 1, 2 and 3) are running on the same engine - UnrealEngine3. Major difference is in textures and models used.

Over 75 hours of story content

75? for me its more than 200 hours... how this even possible finish all three games for 75 hours

You can if you only do the main missions and don't do all the UNC or N7 missions.

I can put in over 75 hours with just ME2/3 alone and ME1 takes over 40 hours too.  It's more like over 100 hours, but maybe that scares people away when they see that number.  :pinched:

I think paul's talking about importing into existing, standalone PS3 copies of ME2. AT the moment it's not possible to import, the function is hidden, but it was already confirmed by Bioware that there will be a patch released to allow imports in old ME2 copies on PS3 :)

Ah, didn't realized PS3 people where having problems.  But then I have all three with all DLC released to date on Xbox.

They don't have ME1 to import to ME2.  Or is the problem from ME2 to ME3?

Does anyone know if the mass effect 1 and 2 in this trilogy pack will require origin like mass effect 3? Even though I have mass effect 1 on steam and mas effect 2 standard retail edition I wouldn't mind getting this to simply have all three games in digital and physical format together.

DLC IS INCLUDED...JUST IT'S ONLY THE FREE DLC WHICH CAME WITH EACH GAME AND EVERYONE HAS ALREADY

Perhaps “odd” is being too lenient. A better headline probably would have been “Mass Effect Trilogy DLC inclusion is the dumbest thing we’ve seen in months”. Unfortunately, that wouldn’t fit so we had to settle for what you see above.

Recently, BioWare and EA revealed Mass Effect Trilogy – a fancy collection of all three Mass Effect games bundled into one slick box. The package is being called “the definitive Mass Effect experience”, even though EA and BioWare’s definition of “definitive” is different to the rest of the world’s.

Basically, depending on which platform you play on, the DLC that comes with the so-called “definitive” version will be different. On top of this, there is no version of Trilogy that actually comes with all the DLC.

In an odd turn of events (and it’s weird saying this), the PC version is the one that scores the most DLC. It’ll come with both DLC offerings for Mass Effect 1: “Bring Down the Sky” and “Pinnacle Station”. Mass Effect 2 will include the day-one Cerberus Network Pass that unlocks missions and Zaeed as a recruitable squad mate. Mass Effect 3 will just include its online pass for access to multiplayer.

Xbox 360 players don’t get any of the Mass Effect 1 DLC. They do, however, get the Cerberus Pass and the Multiplayer pass for Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3 respectively.

As for PlayStation 3 players, BioWare has said nothing about what DLC you’ll be getting. Perhaps you’re just meant to be grateful for even getting Mass Effect 1?

In case you were wondering, this is the amount of DLC that’s missing for ALL platforms across the latter two Mass Effect games:
•“Lair of the Shadow Broker” and “Arrival”, both of which add significant plotline development and bridge the gap between Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3 through hours of additional missions.
•“Kasumi – Stolen Memory” which brings in the final squad mate for Mass Effect 2.
•“Overlord”, which adds four new missions to Mass Effect 2
•“From Ashes”, which was the day-one DLC for Mass Effect 3
•“Resurgence Pack”, “Rebellion Pack” and “Earth”, which are all multiplayer packs for Mass Effect 3
•“Leviathan” – the recently released single-player DLC for Mass Effect 3
•“Omega” – newly announced DLC for Mass Effect 3 that hasn’t come out as yet

That’s quite a sizable chunk of content that’s missing from the “definitive” Mass Effect experience, don’t you think?

wat? I find that slightly better actually, just it's MISSING ALL THE DLC'S I ACTUALLY WANTED TO PLAY!

Not true, DLC for PS3 version of MET hasn't been announced yet and considering that ME2 for PS3 had Kasumi, Overlord and LOTSB included, it's unlikely it won't have them in MET

Right now it looks like it includes whatever DLC came with the game at release and nothing else, so you're probably right.

Okay so, for XBox the total cost of a complete ME3 experience (including only DLC with missions, not alternate costume or equipment packs - also excluding the free multiplayer packs and Extended Cut):
(Keep in mind conversion rate of 80 MSP = $1.00)
$60.00 | 4800 MSP | ME Trilogy
ME 1
$01.00 | 0080 MSP | Bring Down the Sky
$05.00 | 0400 MSP | Pinnacle Station
ME 2
$07.00 | 0560 MSP | Kasumi - Stolen Memory
$07.00 | 0560 MSP | Overlord
$10.00 | 0800 MSP | Lair of the Shadow Broker
$07.00 | 0560 MSP | Mass Effect 2: Arrival
ME3
$10.00 | 0800 MSP | Mass Effect 3: From Ashes
$10.00 | 0800 MSP | Mass Effect 3: Leviathan

Total dollar cost: $117

If you throw in ME2's Genesis motion comic (optional here because ME1 is included) and the outfit and equipment packs:

ME2
$02.00 | 160 MSP | Alternate Appearance Pack 1 (Garrus, Thane, Jack)
$02.00 | 160 MSP | Equalizer Pack
$02.00 | 160 MSP | Aegis Pack
$02.00 | 160 MSP | Firepower Pack
$02.00 | 160 MSP | Appearance Pack 2
$04.00 | 320 MSP | Mass Effect 2: Genesis
ME 3
$02.00 | 160 MSP | Mass Effect 3: Firefight Pack

Total dollar cost: $16.00

$60.00 | 4,800 MSP | Mass Effect Trilogy
$57.00 | 4,560 MSP | Mass Effect Plot-Relevant DLC
$16.00 | 1,280 MSP | Mass Effect other DLC
===============
$133.00 | 10,640 MSP | Mass Effect Complete (including released DLC as of 3rd Oct, 2012)
Likely paid as $60.00 + 5,840 MSP (equivalent to $73, so you'll probably have extra MSP you pay for to have this amount.)

It is, to me, interesting to note that the DLC is actually more expensive than the trilogy itself.

I can see people who have yet to get into Mass Effect looking at this, and then asking their friends "alright, so which DLCs do I actually need? I'm not going to get all of them, so which are the most skippable?"

Awesome things that won't happen: having the ME2 item/outfit packs should carry over to ME3

You know, I had been thinking about getting this trilogy collection for my brother, who still needs convincing to give the ME series a try... but as it is, I think I'll hold off. If it included more DLC, or something new to justify the cost, things would be different, but as it is it's just not worth it.

And you can essentially already add the upcoming Omega DLC & Citadel DLC will obviously both cost $10 each, adding at least another $20 to full experience. And there may still be more to come after Citadel DLC.

It's stupid, publishers act as if they're unaware of millanias-old rules of products losing value over time.

All the ME2 bonus items, armors & weapons are already included by default in ME3.

Well, there are DLC sales from time to time, aren't there? But yeah, it seems stupid. They're almost certainly losing some sales from people who would buy a DLC at $2 or $3 but won't pay $10.

Unless, of course, it's not stupid. EA knows how many copies of the DLCs they're selling at full price, and how many new copies of the games they're selling. Perhaps there aren't very many price-sensitive people out there, and they're moving DLCs at full price even now? If so, it'd be silly to bundle the DLCs with the trilogy at any serious price break. You'd just be throwing revenue away from the people who were going to buy the DLCs at full price.

$10 every couple of months is beneath notice for someone with a decent job. It's, what, two beers? Less if you're drinking decent stuff.

Hi Chris,

I'm not sure if the question has been raised already, or if its a no-brainer, but I just wanted to check that we can transfer a character from the standalone PS3 version of ME1 to the original version of ME2 (and later to ME3)?

Thanks
