The console war was over some time ago.

For all the PS3's supposed "technical superiority" we never got to see it because most all games were multi-platform so built for the lowest spec machine. As a result, most things run better on 360. MS had good marketing strategy with pricing and timed exclusives and while I'm not interested in them, Halo and Gears of War have been huge in terms of exclusives. Also they picked up some former Sony exclusives such as Final Fantasy. They made it easier for developers to update Xbox live (look at how slow Sony has been with ME3 updates) and generally beat Sony with an inferior product but better business acumen.

Japan is the only market in which Sony outsold Microsoft and not by all that much.

Not sure if fully serious...

Totally.  You're a PS3 fanboy and I can see that, and obviously you want to believe you have the best product.  But go look up sales.  Sony have had their ass kicked all over the world.  Except Japan where they were always going to win.

-snip-

But seriously, you're an idiot.

Care to point out where my facts are wrong?

- Most games are multiplatform.
- The XBOX performs as well or better on many multiplatform games
- The XBOX outsold Sony in North America and Europe and made heavy inroads into Japan compared to last gen
- The XBOX is significantly cheaper
- Halo, Mass Effect (eventually came over 5 years after), Star Ocean (came over 1 year after), Minecraft and GoW are bigger exclusive names than Uncharted, Heavy Rain etc
- XBOX has better service from companies such as Bioware (challenges not coming to ps3 etc), Bethesda (DLC not coming to ps3, games buggier and slower patches).  Also a lot of this is Sony's own doing (Bioware saying Sony won't let them update on certain days etc).
- The Wii was outselling the PS3 worldwide but not 360 last time I looked.

Yes PS3 has blue ray. free online play (another revenue where MS is making money Sony isn't) and is technically the better console, although this only really shows in exclusives and you don't have that many blockbuster exclusives on it.  The only game slightly interesting to me is Uncharted, and thats probably only because I haven't played it yet.  The facts speak for themselves, MS clearly won in terms of overall sales and share of the worldwide market.

I'm not getting into a console war with you. It will only end in tears. Mostly yours ofcourse.

Ah, Am I? I was unaware. Because, if you'll notice, I'm not the one who keeps posting Pro-Microsoft things over and over ad infinium. But mayhaps I'm just a stealth fanboy, and to you, it's just so obvious? I Digress.

But... Funny thing... I DO follow the industry enough to know that, while the 360 is ahead, Sony is far from, as you put it, "Getting Their Asses Kicked."

As a matter of fact, the only place the 360 is really Dominating is America, and that's mostly becuase of the fact that the PS3 was stupidly expensive when it first came out(Awful, AWFUL Move on Sony's Part) as opposed to the fairly Cheap Xbox.(Which, oddly enough, was plagued by a number of problems due to cut corners during the manufaturing process to reduce costs. Of course, this may just be an internet rumor. It's not as though at the beginning of it's life cycle, and for a few years afterward, 360s had a 36% Failure Rate).

But talk is cheap, so let's look at some simple sales figures, shall we?

www.vgchartz.com/analysis/platform_totals/

As you can clearly see by this chart that you more than likely think I photoshopped;

(In Millions)
8 . Xbox 360    68.34
9. Playstation 3      66.44

Now, the 360 is ahead no doubt, but that's hardly a "Kicking The PS3's Ass"  Lead, no?

What's more, you'll notice that the only region the 360 is actually "Winning", is North America.

You'll also notice that both are losing horribly to the Nintendo Wii, thus, by the logic of sales meaning superiority, it is obviously the greatest console of this generation.

Now, I'm just an ignorant fanboy apparently, but I'm curious, what were your sources again? I need enlightenment to pull me from this placid sea of ignorance.

1. It stop being an exclusive the second it came to pc.

2. There is no problem being on other systems.

3. You should be glad more people can play it now instead being upset Microsoft lost an exclusive they long time no longer needed.

To add to this point, there are some default settings put into ME2 that are not fair for PS3 users that actually care. Like saving Captain Kirahae and other decisions are set for PS3 unlike with Xbox users who got a chance to actually change those outcomes. I am glad I can finally play the game (as I could only play it on PC). Gives me an excuse to play a great game again.

So basically you are telling me that the PS3 is the third most sold console this generation, behind both MS and Nintendo? Also factor in the money MS has made from charging from online monthly, and that probably works out at more money per unit when you factor in the cost difference between each PS3 and each 360.

As for Nintendo being ahead, they have a £100 console which is aimed at mothers, children and casual i-phone gamers. The battle was between Sony and MS and it's been won by MS with a clear 2,000,000,000 units sold worldwide as per your figures.

As far as superiority goes, run some side by side comparisons.  The 360 is equal or better with most next generation games.  In fact a lot of multiplatform games are coded for the 360/PC and ported to PS3.  If we concede that the PS3 is a better console (personally, i don't see it besides the expensive DVD player), it's not by much and barely noticable in the majority of games, given that most of said games are made for the 360 first and the PS3 second.

Also look at sales figures of leading multi platform games such as Borderlands, ME3, Call of Duty, Skyrim etc.  They all sell more on the 360.

Yes, completely. You Clearly understood my point to it's fullest and aren't simply skirting around and continuing to put forth your idea that "Money Made = Better... Except for the Wii"

Sir, I concede and salute you. I shall return to my fanboyish cave and cry into my Nathan Drake plushie.

- Exclusives tend to be better games than the average multiplatform.
- The PC performs better in every single multiplatform, so they are both irrelevant in that matter.
- PS3 outsold Xbox in Europe and is closing the gap worldwide even though it released more than a year after.
- Once you take into account the retarded propietary hard drives they are roughtly the same price, even though PS3 comes with other things like BluRay and integrated Bluetooth.
- Bigger = better? Is Angry Birds better than Mass Effect? This is the problem with the few Xbox exclusives:

Posted Image

Also LOL @ Minecraft, so exclusive xDDDDD

- I don't see what Bugthesda/Bioware being bad developers has to do with PS3.
- PS3 is outselling 360 worldwide.

If we talk about total numbers Wii laughts at both PS3 and 360.

I was talking about winning the console wars, which is done by money and strategy.  I clearly accepted that Sony may be the slightly superior product on paper in my very first post.

It doesn't matter though.  Go look at the video game charts.  360 versions outsell PS3 versions almost every time.  Which means that coders code for the 360.  Most PS3 games are ports.  Skyrim is a 360 port which runs terrible on the PS3.

The funny thing about this picture is that Halo 3 and Gears of War both outsold those PS3 exclusives twice over.  I guess people like big macs.  Also most multiplatform games outsell their PS3 counterparts.  It has clearly beaten Sony in the console wars, whether it's better or not.  Also Minecraft is console exclusive to xbox no?   It's sold millions of copies for Microsoft too and been in the top 10 for months.  It probably outsold Heavy Rain, not really much to laugh at.

Heavy Rain...blech. Press X to rip off Se7en and receive acclaim from groveling game reviewers who think games need to turn into movies in order to "respectable."

Worst exclusive ever. I would've much rather gotten Gears of War.

Okay are people talking or fighting? It hard to tell, No fighting please thank you. I'm alittle unhappy but it great for everyone else but almost everyone already tried it. The ones who didn't play it will be the younger generations or the cheap ones.

So I'm cheap because I didn't want to spend 300-500 dollars on a new console or PC just to play one game? Real nuanced worldview you've got there.

lol, mention PS3 and 360 in the same breath and watch all the idiots fight about which is better. It doesn't matter, they're just appliances. It's up to you to decide which is best for you. I mean, you don't see people on the Internet fighting about which is the best toaster, do you?

What do you think? I have Mass Effect 1 on PC but haven't played it lately, I don't play games on PC really. I have Mass Effect like on all. I prefer Xbox because well I just enjoy it better on Xbox, I like Xbox more than the others.

Im not a fanboy, I love Mass Effect, I own Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. I'm allowed to think and have opinions, I hate when people start arguements, it just a game anyways.

I just posted what I thought thank you get the fanboys that just like to start fights and pick on others and opinions. I wished things were more easy and simple. I didn't mean to start anything. I don't like fighting because it pointless anyways. Whatever they do I hope that know what they are doing. It sometimes too companies like to start things as well not the person.

So by having PC copies and XBOX 360, i have a foot on two different sides like enjoying Star Trek and Star Wars... cool. I agree with other people that it's the DLC- only when its torn from the original game because I love extra content.

But if they're making adjustments, I hope they release new patches especially for PC. My fully 'patched' Mass Effect still has the Benezia fight bug sending you off map, (I'd mention the crashes next but they're rare) and Nepmos- if the PS3 ends up having the same framerate bug, congrats people a multiplatform bug that occurs on PC and XBOX360 already.

ME2- most stable game under the sun until you install DLC- then you can't rely on pausing to shift the HUD around because that sets off some bugs, the Unity number starts flashing and I had to wait until XBOX 360 to play a stable version of the chase scene. And by that I mean the sound cutting in and out like a fainting spell.

I don't want exclusives- I just want new patches.

True.

A question is there a point in getting Mass Effect Trilogy if I have all three Mass Effects on Xbox and Mass Effect 2 and 3 on PS3?

Can someone honestly explain to me how this would ever negatively affect anyone?

Well CINC, some people treat their choice of game platform, be it Xbox, PS3, Wii, or PC, with the same attitude as Crazy Person would, say... their choice of Religion.

You see, for the most part, no one cares who does what, because they're normal and are able to respect others for different life choices/opinions.

But some, Zealots and Fanboys, are not content with this; They must find a sort of self validation by saying things like, "We're Better Than You Because Of This First Person Shooter/Our Book Is Different." or "You people are ruining the world/Gaming with the path you've chosen!"

All in all, The best you can do is try to ignore it, and to help with that(Because I KNOW it's Hard), always think about it like this;

If someone really needs a sense of superiority over their choice of game system, you should probably let them have it, because chances are, That's a BIG win in their day to day life.

This is actually good advice for the internet in general.  Perhaps the internet is more of a force for good than I thought.

Godspeed console warriors.
