**Bioware: Please make the voice optional for our PC**

I know I'm not alone in preferring a silent PC. I just prefer it from a role-playing perspective. And maybe it's just because I'm not a game designer, but it seems like it wouldn't take much work to implement this feature. They could keep the facial movement of the PC speaking to avoid the problem Origins had with the Warden blankly staring at people.

What say you, Bioware?

It could be implemented easily if they had a flag to give the pc a default blank animation that could be used for every situation. On the other hand if they have to make animations for the silent too then I do not see this happening...might be expensive

Like I said in the OP, I would fine with the PC still mouthing the words.

They won't, because it costs a lot to implement it and they won't just have a button to disable a big chunk of their budget and effort.

You should know better

Play the game mute and read the subtitles. There's your optional voice.

They have a button that makes helmets invisible, which disable a big chunk of their designers and artists work. That's a lousy argument.

You should know better.

Don't be a jerk. I want everyone else to be voiced. I want the PC to be silent so I can imagine my own voice coming out of his mouth,

I actually do, do this.  Well I leave sound effects on and listen to music when I game typically.  I do that with every game though.   The problem arises with the limitations it puts on dialogue options, which isn't a huge deal to me, I do my RPing with character/class building rather than personality building, but I know it bugs some people.

I would love it if I could mute my PC - it shouldn't have to be explained why I would not want the rest of the game muted. I don't care what NPCs sound like - but I do care what my PC sounds like, but more important - what he/she says.

What the PC says... almost never matched the text. Why is that? It's very irritating.

This would solve the problem, IMO. Those who want voice have it, those who do not can do head cannon VO to their heart's content.

Everyone wins.

And they also put a bunch of work into the character creators. Different story there. In your example, they are allowing players to choose from two budget commitments.

You're asking to forget what will likely be one of the biggest budget commitments (especially when compared to helmets)

Try again.

Won't happen, they've said many times its either voice or no voice, because it completely changes how they set up their cameras and dialog trees.

Stop asking.

They're doing a voiced protagonist. So either take it or don't buy the game.

I always prefer voiced protagonist over muted one with one expression. Hopefully, it stays that way.

God I hope not, after playing the fully voiced Mass Effect 1, I couldn't get into Dragon Age Origins due to the main character being silent. After all these years, I'm only just able to get back into silent protagonist games, and it's still a burden.

People need to stop acting like the PC's voice acting is half the game's budget. Most of the cost that comes with the PC's voice is the time and effort it takes to actually put it into the game. A solid VA for the PC doesn't not take a huge chunk out of the game's budget.

Yeah, you'll have to show me where Bioware said they'll never make turning off the PC's voice an option. Turning on subtitles and keeping the PC's mouth movement from the lines would not change anything but the sound.

Oh my god that would give me nightmares. I'm seriously freaked out by people who move their mouth but no noise comes out. By all means, have the option for a silent protagonist, but they should skip the actual speaking parts. Spooky stuff.

Hey, some people are freaked out by feet, some are freaked out by children, I am freaked out by people who move their mouth but no sound comes out. ...And children.

I honestly think that if they went with a voiceless PC I wouldn't buy the game. It's one of the things I hate the most about DA:O. The Elder Scroll games can get away with this, because it's not like there's that much of a story there (where your dialogue would mean anything, anyway).

Bioware doesnt want a voiceless character because they think their fans cant read or have enough imagination to create their pc's voice. Now dont get me wrong i like voiced pcs but there are many conflicts like not choosing races if they hired like 4+ voice actors for the pc then it would be better but bioware wouldnt drop the cash

Stop making excuses. Voice acting costs a lot of money. Its been said again and again game after game. The PC voice acting (for two genders too) is easily the biggest commitment of money and effort out of voice acting.

Its not a reasonable option for them. Get over it and move on.
