Hello everyone,

I've been looking for an answer to this question on this forum and other website, but I don't see many posts/wikis mentioning usage of weapons by allied AIs (Garrus, Tali, etc...).
The reason of this question is that I find teammates quite inefficient with automatic weapons (not shooting long enough) or semi-automatic weapons (not shooting fast enough). I mean an AR like the Revenant is fully efficient if you empty the whole ammo clip, not if you shoot 4 or 5 bullets from time to time. In the other hand, the Mattock is semi-auto, but it's devastating if you shoot quickly enough, not if you shoot like 1 shot per second. So I tend to find AIs inefficient with this type of weapons, especially soldiers like Garrus or Vega that I'd expect to see firing A LOT MORE.

So I was thinking about giving them slow firing weapons, at least if they're not "DPS ****s", they'll deal high damage in a few shots. But some of these weapons are really efficient if charged (like the Chakram or the Geth Plasma Shotgun). So can AI teammates charge weapons ? (I think not but it would be nice to be sure.)
If not, what would you suggest as "good" slow firing AR for Garrus/Vega ?

I don't think they can at all. That goes for any weapon that you have to hold trigger to charge.

I usually give Garrus the best single shot sniper I have available. Which is basically Mantis, then Javelin then maybe Widow.

If you have the Saber you could use that as an AR. Or just stick with the Chakram launcher on them if that is what you want them to use.

Revenant is actually decent on the squad, especially if you have an ammo power on for them.

What do you mean change weapons? Do you mean change the weapon types they carry like, giving Vega Snipers and Heavy Pistols?

No, that's not possible.

Here's what I've found to work:
Vega - Falcon with maxed Incendiary Ammo
Garrus - Particle Rifle with maxed AP Ammo
Ashley - Indra with maxed Disruptor Ammo
Liara - Hurricane with maxed Warp Ammo
EDI - Paladin or Hurricane
Kaidan - Particle Rifle
Tali - Geth Plasma Shotgun
Javik - Particle Rifle

Charge. With an 'r'.

He was questioning whether or not weapons like teh Arc Pistol, Geth Plasma Shotgun, and the sort can be charged by the AI.

Allies cannot charge weapons. Also, they typically do not fire weapons at full RoF although there are exceptions. Certain weapons that would benefit them greatly if they fired as fast as possible e.g. harrier, revenant, eagle, indra, and raptor, they do not use to full potential.

The best assault rifle choice for allies is the particle rifle. If you insist on having a slow firing weapon, the saber and falcon are decent choices as well. I don't have the chakram so...can't say if that's any good or not. Despite what I said earlier, the revenant is actually a great choice for Ashley due to marksman.

Here's a nifty list of mathematically best weapon setups for squad mates, but it doesn't take into acount the latest gun dlc.

So if you have From Ashes, have fun.

Thanks a lot guys, I'll consider your advices

Sorry I couldn't answer earlier, I guess I'll stick to the Chakram on Garrus until I unlock the Saber
