However, I seriously doubt DA3 will make the specific mistakes of recycling dungeons and having a severe lack of follower customization. These are universal criticisms of DA2 and they will be addressed. .

Recycling dungeons and lack of customization are only two of the many problems that I had with DA2.  If that is all they correct for DA3, I'll probably won't even be buying it and be done with the series completely.

Besides, as for customization, you'll only get two different iconic outfits to choose from with your companions, just like ME2 & 3.  Plus, I'm pretty sure it was stated, that they plan on sticking with the star system accessories.

Where did you read that? We have no confirmation about how customization will work. The only think we know is what the developers would like to do, as they shown the concepts at PAX. And if they're going to make that concept real, the companions will have access to multiple armours or robes (though restricted by the class).

I haven't put my mouth anywhere as of yet.

Hmm, that came out sounding weirder than I intended.

Nothing wrong with that.  Why let other people tell you if they think the game is good or not?  Make that decision for yourself  :)

Personally I'll wait until I've heard feedback from other gamers and my friends before I consider buying it. The last two games I've pre-ordered were good games overall but they had glaring flaws. Flaws that make me worry for their future. Dragon Age II was clearly rushed and lacked development time. The debacle surrounding the Mass Effect 3 ending speaks for itself.

I won't lie and say I'll not be tempted if the game looks great. I certainly will. But handing over my money on trust alone is foolhardy when I have doubts. I want to be proven wrong, believe me, and if I am I'll happily buy a new copy. It just won't be on faith this time.

Absolutely. DA2 was a broken game from the start. Has everyone forgotten the incredible amount of bugs and glitches it had when it came out? Has everyone forgotten the slowdown bug and how long it took to get it fixed and how the fix  wasnt able to reverse the effects on previous saves? I stopped playing for nearly 3 months until the fix came out. I preordered back then and I thought the included bonus items were pretty good, especially compared to what we got from Mass Effect 3. But Bioware used us as unpaid beta testers and I won't do that again.I plan to wait until you guys have played for a couple months and had time to discover any major problems and that they have been resolved. As long as the game has been proven relatively bug free and there isn't a bad ME3 type ending: then I'll fork over my cash.

I'll probably ore order if they have something good to bribe me with. As for reviews, the big question is where do you get a fair and unbiased review other than from close friends. It was totally proven that those mass review sites are just as bad if not worse than the game media sites.

I had a few bouts of melodramatic nerdrage over the Mass Effect 3 endings, but this is a different team, and one that has never failed to deliver games that I have thoroughly enjoyed (that includes DA2). While I'm still a bit wary, I think I'm going to pre-order this if I like where the development is going.

Same. I asked GameStop if it was too early for me to preorder DA3 when I was picking up Borderlands 2, seeing as how DA3 was only just announced the day before.

Sadly, too early to preorder yet. Image IPB

If there's some sort of special edition available, I may go ahead and preorder it depending on the content in it, but I'll definitely watch for first impressions from around the interwebs. The burns from DA2 still sting. If the demo doesn't show me any strategic combat and improved dialogue, I'll probably hold off [or cancel if I pre-o'd] until it gets a sale. Mass Effect 3 was on sale about a month after it came out, so we'll see.

I'm also inclined to consider a used copy because at the moment I'm not really feeling like any online pass feature they might throw in would deter me, but y'all know how EA is.

After all the stupid ME3 user reviews, I trust users even less than I trust professional reviewers.

There are a handful of good reviewers out there. I was a big fan of Seth Schiesel.Pity he's disappeared. I don't know if his NYT replacement is any good yet, since he hasn't reviewed anything I care about.

Really? Because the critics of DA2 said the exact same thing about ME3 before it was released.

I'll certainly steal this game and if it amazes me enough I might actually bother paying some money for it.

I will ignore reactions/reviews until I can actually play it myself. Knowing that the ME3 endings were bad kinda dimished the overall experience for me. From now on I'd prefer to go in blind as much as possible.

I agree with this.

Before Mass Effect 3 came out, there was a leak and the forums exploded in anger at the plot holes of a game they haven't played, and I could barely go anywhere without seeing someone talking about how bad the ending was going to be (which was fixed for free, so that was nice of Bioware.) The moment someone starts talking spoilers or make value judgements on the game before playing, I'm logging off and not reading it.

I'll form my own opinion based on my own experiences, and then logically argue my points after I know more about it. For now, I can safely say that I'm hopeful for the mistakes of the past being rectified.

After all, I've heard that this time around (I may be wrong) that EA is giving Bioware a lot of cash and Bioware has free reign over the game this time. All EA is doing is funding it.

I may be wrong about that, but that's what I've heard is happening this time around.

I'll leave that decision to when we know anything meaningful other than the name of the game.

And where did you hear this rumour my good man? Did you forget to take your medication and the magic juju fairies whispered it in your ear? Or are you just a kickass a spy or insider at EA who forgot to take his medication and the magic juju fairies whispered it in your ear?

The 'critics' of DA2 have for the most part hated anything BioWare from day one and were just gleeful to actually finally have a case to bash one of their games.  Most of these critics bashed DAO, ME1, ME2 etc etc.

Same juju fairy that tells people that all BioWare games are going to such with no pre evidence whatsoever I would think.

I've read so much that Bioware have had their last chance with their last two games and the way they treat the fanbase, and yet everyone on this board is acting like none of that happened.

We can hope can't we?

DA3 is in no way a "must buy" at the moment, I need to see/hear that they've learned from past mistakes before I buy it.

I'm excited because I know BioWare has made exellent games before (didn't like DA2 and the ME3 ending otherwise I love their games), and they have potential for greatness, that's why I'm excited.

The question is, will they convince me they've listened pre-launch or should I wait for reviews from fans?

Ah yes "DA2 was crap", we have dismissed that claim.
