I don't know why they don't just do one trailer that shows both sexes. They could just transition back and forth.
Male hero jumps up to bring his blade down on the enemy, quick wipe and change of angle, and the female hero brings down the blade.
Female hero gathers energy around her hands and body, quick wipe and a change of angle, and the male hero looses a fireball.
Etc.

This, actually, would have been a great way to do the trailer for Origins, actually. Except instead of just alternating between female and male, they could have showcased Female Dalish/Male Human Mage/Female Dwarven Noble, etc.

Instead we're given an older Warden, which really doesn't fit in with any of the Origins, given that they portray you as a young adult in every one of them.

If Bioware was to bring back either race selection, classes or multiple backgrounds, I think a trailer that showcases these different backgrounds doing activities that can transition from one to the other would be cool. So... to the OP's suggestion: "Yes, but not just gender - do it all. Showcase multiple classes, genders, backgrounds and races (if they are available)." In a nutshell, show how the game can be customizable and different, not just focus on the cinematic main character Bioware has crafted.

This! This so much! That's exactly what I had in mind, but couldn't find the words to describe. I'd love if they could do something like that.

[/b]I wouldn't mind them doing another show on SciFy channel to hype the game like they did for Mass Effet 2. I rather see something like that then having to by an app  movie on the making of it. That is just me.

I am really hoping for a "the making of Dragon Age 3". I hope they do lots of interviews with the voice actors especially and show us recording sessions. Concept art development over time and then how it's finally implemented in the game. And, well, everything else as well. Dev team, Testers, Writers, Artists etc.

Oh, pretty please? Posted Image

Make just one trailer with a very androgynous character.

I think anything that promotes inclusivity in gaming is a good idea. A trailer emphasizing the fact that Dragon Age is a game both genders can enjoy equally is a step in the right direction.

I think that men today have a very open mind and accept the fact that most women can become a hero and I think its fantastic. It is high time that other studios can make female hero, however, without going into stereotypes like Tom Raider (I hate!). This is why I fell in love with the saga precisely because the female characters are not categorized as ****s with big ****** and I find my account.

While I certainly disagree with the objectification and sexualization of women, I think you're getting a bit close to **** shaming there.

And I think trailers featuring a female PC would be cool. If she's in the CGI trailer and talks, though, she needs an awesome voice.

...What? Voices are important.

Unless they're doing a DA 2 style personal narrative again, I'd rather they have DA:O type trailers that doesn't focus on the hero.

This so much. The DA:O trailers were so bad arse they sold me on the game, while the DA2 trailers like someone pointing and saying- look at this man, he is very cool. Granted the Ashes trailer were kinda like that with all the flips and silly stuff.

Funny how none of them represented the game well in any way whatsoever yet the good trailer turned out to be a brilliant game and the crap trailer a crap game.

In closing, ultimately idgaf bcuz haz nutin to do wit tha gaem

If video games and video game trailers, marketing and media didn't mostly feature white men this might be vaguely true. Alas - the other key demographics would also appreciate being acknowledged and advertised to.

Or they could be put in the game, like they already are. Do you expect Bioware to release a trailer with every possible demographic represented?

Of course not, but if they are going to spend practically double the VO money to have a female PC, it might be helpful to let the demographic that you are catering to with that choice, actually know that it's an option.

Wow at people actually arguing against this. If trailers don't matter to you, why do you care if other people get what they ask for? It's just marketing.

There won't be gameplay or screenshots for a while, but a cgi trailer using concept art could be made much sooner. If it makes people happy to see both a female and male hero represented, what exactly is the harm? Trailers will be made no matter what, we might as well ask for what we'd like to see in them.

Aren't males still the larger demographic? Why wouldn't EA spend more marketing to them instead of women?

I doubt the male demographic is going to get much larger. However, the female demographic is growing rapidly every year.

Edit: To expand on this, why would you spend money on advertising that gets a few hundred extra male gamers to buy yet another (judging by the advertisements) male-centric RPG - when you could introduce thousands of women to BioWare games and gain them as customers, possibly for the lifetime of the company, for the same amount of money? And yeah, it really can be as simple as demonstrating that you can play as a female PC who doesnt look like Barbie.

I wouldn't mind a female hero in the trailer. It's not like it auto picks female for me ingame just because of that. There was a female shepard trailer right?

Edit: Aslong as she is not some kind of stereotype jersey shore chick with humongous..... bewbs....

As Lady Hawke was (IMO) the preferred sex for my PCs in DA2, I would love to see DA3 marketed using the default female for the game. I'm not sure if that would be the best practice possible, but it would be very cool to see.

No...

I rather they use those resources on something more important... trailers have NOTHING to do with the final game, and making 2 of them (similar ones) is just a waste.

If they make one trailer with a male templar first and then 2 months later one with a female mage, THAT i would support, otherwise no.

thanks bye

People watching the trailer presumably. Unless we assume that trailers are pointless and only a waste of money.

1 more trailer is one less person for the development team...

If you see it like that...
