I've seen it before in DAO, beautiful faces smeared with heavy makeup....

It happened again in DA2 (I wouldn't say faces were beautiful, perhaps)

PLEASE tone down some of the makeup. I've done it myself in the toolset, someone as pretty as Morrigan doesn't need so much crayon on her face!

I didn't have a problem with people in DA:O but the demented clown look was clearly fashionable in Kirkwall.

I think that was meant emphasize the craziness of  Tarohne. Mass effect 3 was too subtle with its  makeup so please don't go in that direction.

Could understand it on Morrigan. Could understand it on Leliana...

Could not understand it on Aveline... She never really seemed to care about her appearance in the slightest, so the lipstick kind of threw me a little.

the demented clown look was clearly fashionable in Kirkwall.

Certainly was at that, nothing says crazy quite like demented clown make-up.

I don't think Aveline had make-up on, or did she?

I think it should remain an option for the PC but keep it off NPCs, unless it suits their character, like the crazy blood mage posted here.

But Orana, oh gosh, OH.

I saw some ladies walking around w/o it that still looked good. Less Makeup, More Eyebrows.

Obviously Orana's makeup was done by Hadriana, as a form of mockery and torture.

Just imagine what she used to do to Fenris.  No wonder he was so mad.

Leliana wore make-up? News to me.

The heavy eyeshadow and lipstick fit Morrigan's character, since she's so vain about her appearance and took her fashion tips from Flemeth, who as we know from her appearance in DA2 isn't big on subtlety.

Tarohne's bad make-up was also fitting because she was a goddamn loon. It helped her look the part.

I support makeup when it fits the character. Aveline w/ lipstick just struck me as weird. But then, so did her sashaying around Kirkwall like me, and all of the female companions.

Actually I thought the makeup needed to be tuned-up XD just doesn't suit some characters...

Actually, this makeup choice was so striking that it forced me to write a backstory to justify it. :wizard:

I think the game character designers should have creative freedom to adorn companions and NPCs however they like, while allowing the player to have similar freedom to customize their PC with very heavy makeup or none at all. Character creator choices should have as many options as possible to allow lots of roleplay range.

I'll be fine with whatever they smear on a character. But at least give me a toolset if I want to change it. Or try to restrain, on one. Just one. Like, some badass woman without makeup. Or put makeup on a man, Fenris could use some concealer for his eye bags.

Blood magic was affecting Tahrone's vision. She mistook her acne treatment for her lip balm.

I'd say more emphasis on eyeliner, less on eye shadow.

I was going to use Skyrim characters I made to illustrate my point, but in keeping with the DA3 topic...

For the record, though, I thought Morrigan's makeup was iconic, and suited her character. 'Witch of the Wilds' really fit her well. Orana's makeup on the other hand was vomit-inducing.

I do agree! I wished I could have removed the makeup completely, but that wasn't really an option, if I recall correctly.

...well in Mass Effect, anyways. That stuff on their eye-lashes was obligatory, but eye-lashes don't look like that normally. I wanted my F-Shep to look normal, like people should ~ without all that artificial mess.

Maybe it wasn't lipstick Aveline was wearing, it was a balm to protect her lips from excessive chapping and she couldn't afford the colorless variety.

As a rule, I thought the DA2 character creator didn't allow enough saturation. Sometimes I would try for a specific look, but couldn't get it. Neither CC had good lighting. More options, better quality options, and a slider more like DAO would be good.

I didn't understand the makeup on Orana, either. Tahrone, I also thought 'when mad mages go madder.'

I removed a lot of DAO makeup with the toolset that didn't (imo) fit with a character or was TOO dramatic. I'm not that good with modding so I have a hard time with finding and editing DA2 resources

Yeah...I would be so happy with the option for just some simple eyeliner, really. I'm always kind of jealous that Bethany has perfectly lined eyes. She could have shared her beauty secrets with her older sister, you'd think.

god did she dress in the dark because that makeup is way over the top, I've seen some really nice mods out there that do better makeup i wish bioware would look at those mods and see if they can come up with something new
