Please....please tone it down with the makeup

I liked the makeup on all the companions and major NPCs so far, it just got a little weird sometimes on the minor ones. But I loved everything about Morrigan's look, including the makeup, and if I see a barefaced Cassandra in DA3 I will cry.

I... don't think it was...
It was.
It wasn't. Her stance was different, but her walking and running animations were the same as any other human female character.

Are you in there, Cassandra? Hello? Your voice sounds muffled. Oh, you're buried under more layers of makeup than the Grand Canyon? That's Bullsh*t!
Taken from the DA wiki.
The updated shot is not overdone at all, she looks fine. Looked through some other pictures, so glad they made her hair dark again, looked real bad when white.

I wanted something to that effect on my FemHawke.
Hell, I might actually make a FemInquisitor if I can use eye makeup like that on her.

I don't think the beard and the makeup mix that well, however.Anarya wrote...
I don't want "toned down" makeup, I just want better makeup. More colors would be nice, and good eyeliner options that work independently of the eye shadow slider.

But if she retains her great makeup, it'd be nice if it was in the character creator for us to use on our girls.

The rest of the characters didn't bother me, but it would be nice to have more people without make-up. My PCs are pretty much alone in that :/

However, I will agree that in general the level of makeup needs to be toned down dramatically. And somebody needs to study anatomy and get a feel for what facial proportions are actually like. There are way too many people with bizarre or grossly misshapen faces when there's no good reason for them to look like that. Bethesda's got the same problem with their games.

Eye makeup goes great with beards! Just look at Jack Sparrow or Khal Drogo.
Anyway, yes. Eyeliner. I'd love it if we at least had a smokey eye look like Cassandra and Isabela were wearing in DA2, and a winged/cateye liner option.

No matter Bioware does, someone is always going to think a character would look better if they did something else.
Bioware should just give up and let us change the appearance of characters without mods.
If people don't like a character they can just change it.

I know you've played the Fallouts, but did you ever experience the horror of Oblivion. Walking into a city in the middle of the night, going up to a random guard to ask him directions, he turns around and it zooms in on his hideous, misshapen face...
This was a common occurrence...

I've played Oblivion, but never to the level that I got as familiar with the frankenpeople of Cyrodil as I did with the D.C. Wasteland or the Mojave.
This might be fuzzy memories talking, but I remember Morrowind actually doing pretty decent with the faces. Of course, there was considerably less texture detail on the old Xbox than the 360, which actually helps.

You'll never catch me with guyliner, be sure of it. hahaha
And that's what its called? The "Smokey Eye" look?

@LPPrince yes, there's a lot of variations on the smokey eye, but it's basically what Izzy and Cass have on. Completely lined eye with the edges blended ("smoked") out a bit.

Lmao have you played as ME3 default Femshep? That woman has some makeup caked on her face.
But yeah, where would they get makeup from in that era? I could understand the Orlesian snobs and high rankers but slaves and random nutjobs? Even Morrigan was kinda weird...She lives in the damn Wilds, where would she get lipstick and eye shadow?

Oblivion was hilariously populated by a lot of misshapen, potato-headed people and it was pretty funny.
My battlemage soon decided that the land must be cleansed with fire. The next time a guard turning around, hideous face illuminated by torchlight, shouting "GREETINGS CITIZEN" I knew what I must do.

I don't see how it's much of a stretch that someone with extensive knowledge of herbs and stuff might also be familiar with vegetable and mineral colorants.
Also, makeup predates the medieval era in our world by thousands of years. Maybe Thedas is similar.

She was getting a head start on that "all natural organic" craze.

Thank you, because I have no knowledge whatsoever on the intricacies of makeup or its application.
I just know that sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I'm a fan of the minimalist approach. Less is more.
